0/10.

OP, depends on the car. Used to be that manual meant extra gears and much more control over where your revs were at any given moment, but not so much anymore. Autos usually feature more gears now and many manufaturers use excellent shift logic to keep the engine where you want it, especially when combined with selectable drive modes on certain cars. Factor in advancements like dual-clutch automatics and autos make a good case against manuals. So anymore autos will tend to be faster and not suffer from the drawbacks they used to like long shift times, lack of overlap in the rev range and less gears.

But dont get an automatic off road vehicle. That just sucks.

manual cars can
A) be roll started if you flatten your battery like a nub
B) more easily fixed by mechanics, lowering your overheads on car repair and maintenance
C) allow you to engine brake more easily, without risking your auto transmission
D) allows the driver more control over speed adjustments, you can simply drop a gear to slow down 10 or so km/h instead of increasing the wear on your brake pads
E) you can drop it into neutral and roll around the place like a true skater fag.
F) you cant do a sick skid in an auto

all around though, driving manual gives you a bigger penis.

>C) allow you to engine brake more easily, without risking your auto transmission
Where I live, engine braking is prohibited. So I can't really judge this one.
>engine braking is not what you think it is. its essentially taking your foot off the accelerator and allowing the car to slow itself down. in automatics you should always brake manually because the transmission can get fucked if you engine brake too much.

>D) allows the driver more control over speed adjustments, you can simply drop a gear to slow down 10 or so km/h instead of increasing the wear on your brake pads
Or, you know, just take your foot off the accelerator.
>dropping down a gear when you're in the lower RPM range of that gear will quickly slow the car, in addition to engine breaking. not only does this mean if you brakes fail you can slow down without pulling the handbrake, but it also means you can drop speed very quickly in case of emergencies.

>E) you can drop it into neutral and roll around the place like a true skater fag.
You could do that in an automatic, but it's not recommended for any car to do that.

both auto's and manual's have there advantages. i've only ever had manual cars but drive buses for a living (all auto).

manuals are great and give you full control of whats going on in the gearbox, id never have a 'sports car' with an auto box i think that'd ruin the experience for me.
>>
>>703619420
"this" is wrong you disgusting fuck.

modern electronic fuel injection closes the ports while engine braking, making it more efficient all around than using your brakes while in a neutral position.

Further more, you fucking retard, shutting the injection ports removes the most wear-causing action an engine does, CREATING SMALL RAPID-BURNING FIRES INSIDE OF THE CYLINDERS, and lowers the stress on the engine.

For more information, look up U.S. Patent 5,146,890 held by Volvo, "Method and a device for engine-braking a 4stroke internal combustion engine."
