Death still gives me the creeps. I don't fear it, but it's a concept that's still strange to me. I don't believe in god but there has to be something more after death. I just wish we had a way to know more about it.

It's all probably based on quantum physics. Really complicated stuff. The most basic answer I can think of is that all atoms are bound by bonds and attractions depending on their polarity. The more mass (atoms) an object has, the greater its pull on surrounding masses (smaller clumps of atoms), due to this natural attraction atoms have to each other.
I probably sound like a retard but you asked for it.

What gives me the spooks is the thought that what if my entire life right now is a dream or something. It's happened to people who have been in comas, one guy got knocked out playing footy and lived out his entire life, wife kids and everything, and woke up on the ground with ambos over him. I think he went through about 3 years of depression because he lived a life that never existed and apparently he still sees his son and wife in his dreams at night.

yeah, that's why science is a rabbit's hole. they want to find out why things fall so they come up with the concept of "gravity", and now they want to know what causes that, lol. the universe will always escape you, no matter how far you zoom in or out. it's part of the game

For me it would mostly be space related aswell...
Like can you imagine how Michael Collins felt when he was orbiting the moon and all communcations were cut when he was facing the other side of it - terrible to imagine, that comms could not get up again or something else in that manner.

Also read the Moon-Disaster Speech which was already prepared in case of something going wrong. Seein this today and thinking what it would have felt if youre up there is pretty chilly.

The first 2 sentences were: Fate has ordained that the men who went to the moon to explore in peace will stay on the moon to rest in peace.

Although I am moslty an agnostic (or maybe a don'tgiveashitstic) I often get a feeling we're part of smthg bigger. Like we live in a 13.7 billion years old universe, but what was before that? Are we just developped organic molecules on a random planet near to a random star in a random galaxy? Will we someday disapear and no one will care? How should we deal with the idea that inevitably, one way or another, our species will disappear? Is our existence useless and futile or is there a bigger goal?
>>
>>703609201
This is sorta true. But I don't see how else this could work.

>>703609397
Then explain quantum gravitation?
>>
Definitely the fact that the universe is somehow finite, what is outside the universe? This is so unimaginable that it gives me sleepless nights sometimes, so I just try to avoid thinking about it
>>
Recently I found out that speaking of science as we know it right now; the atoms that compose everything in the universe has no structure. Therefore it is just space. We are nothing but emptiness. Although ironically that nothingness can contain consciousness. Pretty crazy...
>>
>>703609201
You can only know if there's a definitive answer if you pursue that millenia long quest. Who knows? Maybe one day we'll find a theory that explains everything perfectly
>>
>>703609658

>>
>>703609397
Well yes we can understand how gravity works, but it doesn't necessarily explain why it works. It's not exactly an answerable question, and yeah like you said, then there's quantum gravitation

You don't get the point. I'm not asking for an actual answer. The idea is there is a high probability science will never be able to give a proper answer to every laws of physic.

>>703609553
Why would there be a bigger goal? The truth is life is a MMORPG and the universe is a simulation.
>>
Hm yeah true. That gets me thinking.. So if dark matter and the matter we are composed can contain consciousness then that could mean what our idea of "god" is actually just reality itself.
>>
>>703607555
Very, very nice
>>
>>703609834
Thanks Anon. I guess religions were created partly to answer those questions but now we've mostly abandonned religious beliefs. We choosed science, but at what cost? We're left with more questions and no good answers.
>>
>>703609950
Well, either of those actually scares me. Either imagining something so ungraspable as infinity or a finite universe with nothing outside. I also think this is a very human fear; not being able to understand something and thus fearing it, just like for instance the concept of thunder in the ol' days: now that we know what thunder actually is, we don't fear it anymore as a concept.
>>
>>703609983
>You don't get the point...
Youre right i didnt get the point. Your also right about what you said - we may never be able to comprehend every law of physics.
What is really fascinating to me is that as soon as it gets into quatum science, most scientists haveto ask philosophical questions too in order to barely know whats even going on.

A good watch on that is: What the Bleep do we know and Down the Rabbit Hole

Interesting text anon.
Imo, we are not part of something bigger or even if we were we wouldnt know it i think we also couldnt know it because our perspective would not allow to see it.
I think we are just the product of randomness and coincidence. We most likely are of no value to something but ourselves and i think we might disappear like we appeared: In silence and of no importance.

Maybe the right approach on those questions is the agnostic one: Are we even capable of answering this questions ;)

Nothing gives you the spooks when you accept the fact that you dont have any meaning in this world. You,your friends & family. The universe doesn't need your existence. Nothing matters at all in this world, you as an individual are no one. Nothing. You can't do shit except existing and living till you die. That's it. Nothing else. The only thing that you can do is live till you breath,that's all.

Not sure if you're even still here, but there's a theory in the works postulating that gravity is the macroscopic evidence of quantum entanglement at work.

Supposedly, every entangled pair creates a wormhole between the pair, and every particle in the universe has a predetermined partner, creating gravity through their interaction with every other entangled pair

A couple nights back, I woke up earlier than usual. It was dark (But I live in Alaska, so that's not really unusual). I blinked a couple of times to adjust my eyes to the dark. I looked to my left. A dresser and a coffee table, about the same height.

I tried to turn my head to the right. The first couple of times, it just wouldn't happen. The third, my peripherals started to shake, and I became aware that I was hovering three feet off of the floor, approximately the height of my bed.

The whole time, anxiety built in my chest. A horrible feeling of wrongness. Pressure. My heart pounding. Finally, I decided I'd had enough of trying to turn my head. Whatever was there didn't want to be seen, and I realized I didn't want to see it. I just wanted out.

It took a few attempts, but I awoke with a start. I still can't shake the feeling that I've been there before. Like, that's a place that I've slept, just... not in that particular orientation.

My dreams are the spookiest things I know.
It took a couple more tries.

The universe is large and uncaring, and entropy says eventually it will be a dark place as well. We are just a cosmic accident. There is no higher purpose.

It's the inability to come to terms with that is why mankind had to invent religions, for, by some quirk of fate, we seem to have evolved to believe in something. I'm not sure what evolutionary advantage that gave us - if anyone can add anything I'd be interested

Nihilist here. It's honestly quite liberating. Shit doesn't matter, so why worry about it? Just live your life in a way you can be satisfied with it. Be you and no one else. It's okay to be human, with no bs rules to the afterlife. It isn't death you have to fear, it's gonna happen, it happens to everyone, but you can live your life how you want. You don't have to let a church tell you who to be. Just do you.

I feel it has a lot to do with the fundamental nature of things to be in a state of attraction (empedocles argued that thigns were in a state of attraction like modern science) towards power or repulsion from power (argued by neizsche that this state of attraction is caused by a drive for power, both on a physical and metaphysical level). In the case of nature we have things like animals on the top of the food chain activly expanding their presnese on earth,
and things on the bottom not choosing to be driven to extinction but simply incapable of expressing the strive towards power and subsequently making up the collective of the replulsion.
Nietzsche agrued that this force was also within atoms meaning that science currently observes what atom do, but not really gauging an understanding of what it means to be a human. You can see the problem when we can fully disect humans and learn everything there is to emperically know about them, but this can never tell us about the meaning of our existance.
This force when viewed in atoms takes on the appearance of atoms trying to pull themselves together to generate a higher energy and literal mass.
This striving for power is the purpose of life and activly striving for this power is the meaning of life. Buddhism would argue loosely that nature and matters striving for power is a similar concept to us striving for enlightenment.

Because it's not even that hard to remember at all, and if you live in the united states it means you get to vote while being that dumb. Think about it. Nah, but I'm each of you have a brother's uncle's nephew's wife's physical trainer's girlfriend's pastor's chiropractor that you can use as anecdotal evidence that SOMETHING (we don't know what) is definitely happening and it totally isn't explainable by, you know, what are essentially hallucinations that everyone has while they sleep.

Gematria is the coding of numbers into words, used by esoteric societies throughout history. For Simple English Gematria each letter is worth it's place in the alphabet. Thus A=1, B=2, Z=26, and so on. Elephant would be:
5+12+5+16+8+1+14+20=81

Check this out:
Simple = 74
English = 74
Gematria = 74

Jesus = 74

Freemasons are obsessed with the number 33. They always code the number 33 into their doings using Gematria and numerology, especially in names.
Name = 14 + 1 + 13 + 5 = 33 (Simple English Gematria)
Codename = 3 + 6 + 4 + 5 + 5 + 1 + 4 + 5 = 33 (English Reduction, each letters digits are added together, eg. M=1+3=4)

More examples:
There are 33 degrees of Freemasonry
Masonry = 4 + 1 + 1 + 6 + 5 + 9 + 7 = 33
Holocaust = 8 + 6 + 3 + 6 + 3 + 1 + 3 + 1 + 2 = 33
Genesis = 7 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 1 + 9 + 1 = 33
Big Bang = 2 + 9 + 7 + 2 + 1 + 5 + 7 = 33
Wake-Up Call = 5 + 1 + 2 + 5 + 3 + 3 + 1 + 3 + 3 = 33
Kennedy = 2 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 4 + 7 = 33
Robert = 9 + 6 + 2 + 5 + 9 + 2 = 33
Sirhan = 1 + 9 + 9 + 8 + 1 + 5 = 33 (Sirhan Sirhan = 33 33)
Bill Gates = 2 + 9 + 3 + 3 + 7 + 1 + 2 + 5 + 1 = 33 (retired from CEO of Microsoft after 33 years)
Darwin = 4 + 1 + 9 + 5 + 9 + 5 = 33
MK Ultra = 4 + 11 + 3 + 3 + 2 + 9 + 1 = 33
Society = 1 + 6 + 3 + 9 + 5 + 2 + 7 = 33
Order = 6 + 9 + 4 + 5 + 9 = 33
Jesus is said to have been crucified at age 33

Christopher Columbus (CC = 33) was sent by the Catholic Church (33) to start a new Freemason controlled nation.
Every NASA astronaut has been a Freemason. They launch their rockets from Cape Canaveral (33) and the Kennedy Space Centre (Kennedy = 33, see above), using Runway 33.

Totally agree, although its not one of the big fears. Natural selection does no longer have any impact, but dumb people, so to say, do impact because they certainly do impact political decision making for long term causes. A clear example is sustainability you know, how will we ever accept sustainable policy if there s loads of people who are simply unable to see the benefits? Still there is little we can do about it.

I've heard this multiple times, and honestly, why should I care. You shouldn't be bothered by this unless you think life is a video game, where you're a main character with an objective.

There's no shame in just being a part of this fantasy of a universe, experiencing it, and then letting the natural laws make way for the new.

Anything you feel you didn't accomplish means ultimately nothing in the grand scheme of things.

There is a major flaw in your thinking, the fact that it works with the english language. Ancient greek or egyptian would be the logical tongue for this, since most of the hermetic orders originate from these cultures.

But w/e, it was still funny, tho it lacks credibility as theory (what does it even aims to prove ?)
>>

The English language was designed with Gematria in mind.

>why does something exist rather than nothing
i've asked this before but i think it's a bad question. The implication of it is "wouldn't it be easier if there was just nothing?" because "something" is energy and therefore requires difficulty to maintain. I think "something" has to exist for there to be a "nothing" to contrast with it, because the universe is itself nothing more than a binary: 1 or 0, on or off. The two go together and one cannot be without the other.

Life is born just by chance, we don't exist on purpose. It had to happen somewhere, that just happens to be here.

>>
>>703624303
oh sure I think about it a lot too, like is your "red' the same as my "red", or what pops into your head when you hear "tree" vs what pops into someone else's head. Ultimately we're just machines that pass information around, and as long as that information can be more or less mutually understood, the minor differences and variations don't matter so much.

treating existential depression by fucking with brain chemistry that we barely understand is probably not the wisest course. TL;DR numb your brain with pills and become just another drugged up zombie, if you like. I'll take my chances.
>>
>>703619217
whats the difference then? reborn but cant remember anything or there was nothing, Either way it feels like nothing. Also, where is the mechanism for this to happen? There are more births than deaths and there always has been throughout history, how does that fit in?

reincarnation is a boring answer anyway. it implies life is its own reward and I think the denizens of this pit of misery would disagree. I know I do.

We come into this world, most of us come to cherish and love the world that surrounds us, but cannot make meaning of why this insignificantly blue planet has given life to so many wonders that seem universally meaningless as a whole.
We live in awe as we learn, explore and develop our skills in a world we've shaped through milennia.

But then our bodies turn against ourselves, we are reminded that even an intelligent species such as ourself is meant to wither and die as our cells ages, reversing our biological clock.
So we wonder why. Why do I have to leave this wonderful world? Seemingly our only meaning in life is to further this depressing life cycle that has no apparent meaning on an astromonical scale.
Is this really all there is to life? To be given the opportunity too look only a few decades into the timeline of our universe for so to be cast out into oblivion alongside our experiences and memories.

Erased from existance.
