Most of the time, the man who is most willing to provide does so because he is/wants to be emotionally invested. Part of why communication is important in a relationship is because communication reflects both investment and love. The couple that is constantly fighting, degrading each other, etc is far below the couple that says "I love you" often, agrees to disagree on important matters, talks things out, etc.
If money and children are a requirement for a woman (and by that I mean superfluous spending, buying things that aren't needed), then it might not work out. Then again, if the man also wants children, or if he finds satisfaction in spending a little more than necessary (likes to eat out a couple times a week or other simple things), it might be great.
Communication and honesty are key. They remove some room for doubt and insecurity, and they help provide emotional satisfaction and stability.
