How does someone become gay? Are they born that way or do they have experiences that lead them into becoming gay?
I struggle with this question because I don't know what I am. (I know exactly what you're thinking after I say this) I'm attracted to passable (voice, body, face, and tits) transgender mtf.
However I don't find males attractive whatsoever. I'm not asking if that makes me gay or not because, "Oh, he has a penis and that's gay." I just don't understand how this one thing turns me on, but some attractive guy just doesn't cut it for me.

It can boil down to choice. But mostly when you're a teenager. Teenage years are a time of experimentation and learning. So over that period, what happens in your life can shape what your sexual preference is. In my opinion.

In my experience it's a combination of a lot of things. I'm sure it's a big complicated mix of nature vs nurture, but it's not as simple as a "choice" (at least in the short term).
Things I think may affect you are:
+ Birth
+ Hormones
+ (Sexual) experiences
+ Any kind of experience really
+ Habits
+ Diets
I think that's most of what I'd think influences it in order of importance.

Various studies have shown there's a genetic component to being gay, of course there's no 'gay gene' because a gene codes for a specific polypeptide and if you think just one polypeptide turns you gay then you shouldn't be commenting on evolutionary traits in the first place. More likely it is a specific interaction of genes that give rise to a likelihood of it. More over it is then determined more wholly by hormonal environment in the womb whilst brain delevlopment occurs and being genetically predisposed and having a certain hormone exposure that leads to being gay.
There are many theories that explain the prevelance of homosexuals in nature, as it should give a genetic advantage to a gene pool for it to be in such high frequency.
I like the idea that it derives from inheritance of genes for attraction to masculinity as women would have more children and men less so an overall balence is achieved or slight advantage. I also like to think that as humans require so much nurturing as children it came about as a result of need for reduced offspring but a large adult population to provide the care.

Okay serious answer here. I know people on this site argue 'gay' and 'straight' and what qualifies as either. The thing is though that those are categories that human sexuality doesn't really fit neatly into. Sexuality is a spectrum. Not in some sjw 'pansexual demi-gender fluid alligator-kin' bullshit, that's still a category. Whatever you're into, you're into.
If you like most women and no men, fine. If there's some trangendered people you like, fine. If you like men dressed as women pretending to be pansexual aligator-kin, whatever.
