Not aware of any gays in my lodge. A few eccentrics, but again, none that are clinically mad that I'm aware of.

Every organisation will have its bad apples, and when you're part of a fraternity you tend to look after each other regardless of the wrongdoings.

Freemasonry is largely about charitable acts and donations, something I imagine is not present in other organisations.

That's it's exclusive - it really isn't.
That you have to be asked to join - you don't
That it entitles you to get away with anything - not true
That people join for personal gain - nothing could be further from the truth
>>

Not aware of it happening. Tradition says their tongue would be torn our and buried, or their hart plucked from their chest. In reality, they'd be kicked out.
>>
>>703196552
>are there female masons?
Not actual masons, but lodges have been created for women to join.

To add - Freemasonry is the second largest charitable organisation in the UK. All money is collected from the members within the organisation.

Charitable collections at each meeting - give what you can afford - usually around £50
Dining fees at each meeting - around £15 for a decent 3 course meal.

You are "Summonsed" to the meetings - they are not optional (in theory). In practice, it doesn't matter if you miss a couple in a year.
Social functions are entirely optional.

You can't be a mason seriously.
>>
>>703198440
>What is the difference between the meetings and the social events?
Meetings are the ritualistic ones, followed by discussing Masonic business.
Social functions are usually open affairs where you can bring non-members, spouses etc.
They have a ladies event where you can bring your wife along to the lodge for a black-tie evening.

There are many different "branches". Knights Templar often meet in the same lodge as we do. You would usually be a Master Mason before approaching another order.

Rituals are things like initiations for new members or ceremonies for people passing to a higher degree.
They're really interesting if you're into that kind of thing. They can be quite theatrical, and you get to play with swords.
The rest of the meeting is probably similar to any other committee meeting - accounts, any other business, reports of members needing assistance etc.

A ritual in the lodge - takes about 45 minutes depending on the variation of the ritual.

Not in the UK - any criminal record has to be declared and is a bar to entry.

I've been asked to join before by a friend whose father is a member, and has been for many years. My grandfather was a mason, but not a very nice chap, and none of my family have ever been interested. My main barrier is wealth - I'm too much of a poorfag to join at the moment.

A few questions though -

1. Is younger membership a major issue? From what I've been told, the Masons are an aging and dying breed.

2. Is it really true you don't help each other out as it were? I don't mean getting people off major crimes, but I've seen a few dodgy things. Guy I know who's a member (a young-ish guy) got away with serious assault under unusual circumstances.

3. Assuming that is just coincidence and you're not all doing dodgy favours for each other, what are the main benefits to joining? Networking? Just a place you enjoy going?

4. I see you have to "believe in a devine being" to be a member. I'm not strictly an atheist - I believe in God but think he's an utter cunt and would never want to worship him. Would this cause a major issue? Does religion play much of a part or can you just say "yes, I believe in a God" and leave it at that?

5. Finally, just out of interest, what do you make of pic related? Masons lining the back of Jimmy Savile's funeral. Just another group hoodwinked by him? Or was/is there something dark going on there? Stupid question really, you'd never answer that truthfully if there was and you knew about it!

This is bullshit. I'm not a freemason and I bet I can answer any question you pose using the power of google. Go on, try and test whether I'd pass as a freemason.

Post an example of someone getting away with a crime or similar due to them being a freemason.

Protip - Aside from rumour and conjecture, you can't.
>>
>>703205423
Nice try, you're obviously a freemason trying not to look like a freemason.

Youngest member in our lodge is 22, average age is probably 40. There is a major drive to find new, younger members
There probably is some underhand dealings, but they would only be between members and would be conducted outside of the lodge. Personally, I would not
Benefits for me are giving something back, helping others, and the social aspect. I don't have a wide circle of friends outside of masonry.
Religion is not discussed in lodge...ever. You just have to believe in a supreme power
The whole Saville thing was not known about to the wider brethren, I doubt it was known about to anyone within masonry. He may well have had Masonic friends and it is traditional to wear your jewels and aprons for any funeral

Thanks for the answers.

Would it also be fair to say that the "secrets" are just things you learn to identify yourself as a Mason, and would be meaningless to any non-Mason?

As a (non-perfect) example - it's like learning Bible verse to identify yourself as a Christian. It doesn't *mean* anything to non-Christians, but is a way to share knowledge and feelings with fellow Christians? Correct?

Basically what I'm saying is - you lean Masonic methods and verse, but it's not like some super-secret thing that would mean anything to a non-Mason, like "there really are giant lizards ruling the world!" or other such shit.

Does that make sense?

Don't ask me things you can easily find on google.

can you suck a golf ball through a garden hose?

Oh really?

That makes perfect sense, and you're pretty accurate with your analogy.
Without secrets, it would lose some of the mystery and that makes it special.

Why aren't atheists and agnostics allowed to be freemasons?

What's the difference between freemasonry and illuminati?
>>
>>703206538
There has to be a belief in the grand architect of the universe. A lot of rituals and ceremonies revolve around this, so without that belief the rituals would be nonsensical.

>>703206560
None whatsoever
>>
>>703194304
Have you found that that has been lost?
