Every time a pitbull seriously harms someone the owners are always singing the same tune. "They're such good dogs! This is so out of character."
Then the other pit-lovers start scapegoating the individual dog owner in like every case. "There's no bad dogs, just bad owners. They must have not trained it right."
A lot of people will tell you that pitbulls need hours of vigorous exercise every day and when they don't get it is when they get aggressive. I'm sorry, but anything that requires hours a day of maintenance in order not to blow up and kill someone is fucking dangerous and should be treated the same as trying to own a lion or a bear.
You should have to carry massive insurance and the owners should face criminal charges for the consequences of their dog's aggressive behavior. These assholes should be going to jail for manslaughter or attempted murder when their dogs seriously hurt someone.

Dogs of any medium to large breed usually attack instead of flee because they are almost or as big as people and don't find it would be a challenge. Dogs attack to protect themselves just as humans do. Just as insects do. Just as any living creature does. To send hate towards an animal for that reason is ignorant. If a dog is brought up in a hostile enviornment, it'll usually become hostile. If it is brought up by a hostile person, it'll take on the personality of said owner. Pit bulls were originally bread to be "nanny dogs." Used to protect infants and small children mainly because of their gentle and good nature. Also because they are protective of their FAMILY. Dogs are family, no matter how you raise them. No matter what breed. They will always protect their own when it comes down to it. And for the ones that get attacked, it's usually their fault for fucking with the dog, or the dog was brought up badly. There are only a handful of dog breeds that are bread to be aggressive and pits are not one of them. Attached is a picture of my "vicious" American bully (half pit, half American bulldog) probably one of the kindest and most gentle dogs you'll ever meet. Everyone has their opinion, and this is mine.

He may have the capacity to hurt people, but all animals have that capacity to some extent. Arlo isn't a mean dog. He jumps a bit, but he's always excited to meet new people and new dogs. I'm not defending dogs that have attacked or their owners. It depends on the situation of the attack. Did the dog escape from a watchful owner and attack? Dog's fault, press legal charges but don't kill the dog unless it cannot be trained to not do it again. If the owner isn't watching the dog properly or hasn't trained the dog properly it's the owner's fault. Don't blame the dog, it isn't smart enough to know better unless it's trained.
