So I just learned how to use stereograms, have tried since I was a kid in the 90s, finally got it down at the age of 29. Who all can see this one?
Also, post stereograms.
Here is a good one to test your skill. Count how many you can see. See if you can see all levels.
I see, that must be the problem. The other 3d kind that look like nonsense until you see them, I can see them with perfect clarity, but I'm not crossing my eyes.
I wonder if the side by side variant can be seen without crossing your eyes, I'm having trouble if you can.
It reverses the 3D effect.
I play 3D videos with VLC on 2 monitors a few feet from me, I hate it when they don't use the cross eyed version, so I have to enable a 2x2 slider puzzle with all spaces. then flip the left and right with it.
OP here. I've tried off and on for decades.
What finally got it to work was focusing on a single point. Pic related, it's the first one I saw.
See if you can see depth to it, if you can, you are on the right track. This is an easy one.
The "hidden object" stereograms tend to be straight-eye, and the side by side images are usually cross-eye. Using the opposite, different way of viewing one will reverse the depth effect.
Side by side images can be viewed properly by swapping the images, but the other type can't be changed as far as I know.
I'm surprised at how horrible people seem to be at these. I can see every single one I've tried. Used to practice on chain link fences and those lunch tables with the holes when I was younger. It's cool when you get it and your eyes relax and you can look around the image keeping focus. I learned how to control the focus in my eyes and I have 20/10 vision, dunno if related.
I swapped this one for you, if you can do straight-eye.
>Those aren't 3D.
they really aren't... wtf
yours works well, though
first time that i actually see these kind of stereoscopic images. i only knew the other kind before. took me a minute to figure out. it really helps if you zoom the picture in your browser to a smaller size
Too many people don't seem to get how it actually works, sadly. Subsequently, there are a lot of fakes, and finding good ones is hard too. This one's cross-eye.
I'm just had you do them in the same order as me. Pretty cool it worked for both of us. It was accidental for me.
I think for people who are learning and having trouble should learn the silhouette ones first perhaps?
On the side by side, hold your hand flat like a blade between your eyes and touch it to your nose. Adjust so both pictures show up as one.
The "blade" removes duplicates of the image and allows you to focus on the center one. It's how the old side by side glasses worked
I can't seem to relax them though. They either cross on their own or just stay focused on what's in front of me.
I can't seem to force them to relax. Do I just not have that ability or is there some concept I'm not getting here?
Try the jew merchant one, focus on one single point and do not deviate, eventually it will look like you are looking inside the picture, just keep it like that until you don't have to try anymore, then you can look around the image freely. This is how I do them anyway.
I've got that problem too, but somehow I was able to focus on >>702984217 then >>702982485, and now more, by comparing them to a seemingly infinite view over a lake I've been to. I'm having better luck in this thread than I've had all my life with these pictures.
Here's another cross-eye one. Water looks absolutely stunning in these if you have a clear screen and can focus in it properly.
If you can see the image but it is blurry, it means you are getting close. It will just instantly seem to become clear as a real object in front of you. You are probably losing focus just as you start to see it.
how close should i be to my screen? i can see the depth and everything but unless im right up on my screen i cant see it clearly. I can focus and keep it in the same spot for as long as i want but the closer i get to my screen the harder it becomes and it starts to hurt
most of them are shitty, like fake tits, lots of makeup, shitty porn star sluts. I like how the photos are at least artistic. If anyone has webm's that are porn but not like shitty port that'd be great
Everyone's giving good advice.
What'll happen is weird, cuz your eyes will think you're actually seeing a clear image and adjust accordingly. You definitely see it once your eyes adjust.
Let them diverge, and play around with how much you relax your eyes.
Ok, I'm getting there. I held up my laptop and focused on a point across the room, then moved my screen in front and saw some of them.
I can't seem to replicate this without doing that, though.
I did a first pass with my program and generated a gif from it.
There's no inconsistency. Just the required ones to make the hand stand out as closer. That's how these work. Just stare at it for a while with the two connected and follow the arm back and forth until it looks good.
I can do these kinds with ease but I've never been able to see the other ones.
Im trying to look at a far corner of my room and then keep my eyes focused like that and move the image over to my eyes and I still see nothing.
Pretty cool, I might try to make one myself. I can't estimate the complexity yet as I haven't really thought about it, but it might be possible to use a phosphor-type effect to capture a single picture containing the depth information,
set a threshold to discard noise, and use other filters to clean up the image for a more accurate representation of the depth..
From what I understand, if you look at this type cross eyed, you are reversing the effect, I cannot cross my eyes so I have no idea what you are seeing, is it inside out looking or something?
I have a few, I'll try to find a few more.
I takes a while as it tests each pixel against each in a row, and finds a patter in the pixels, does probabilities with neighboring ones, and goes with the highest value. Lower horizontal searches ranges are faster, but produce more garbage.
She's just trying to get him ready for this one.
Haha yes, he's like fuck this shit I'm hiding behind this truck
Im keeping them vague, not to spoil the image to much.
Cross/double vision and bring overlapping images into congruence. (Look towards your dominate eye-side.) You may have to rotate your head or a teen a little in order to get the overlap correct.
When you get it right, the image will suddenly snap into "view."
Ok, ican now some 3d shit, what is exactly the thing i have to see?
Is that op's image will merge into one, right i the center and form just one clear image of semething else? can somebody please explain this to me, be kind please, is my first time seeing this shit
It says EYE STRAIN
Need to relax, focus your eyes so they are blurry, leave them blurry and the image will show up. Your eyes will want to focus on the image as you 1st see it, you need to resist this and keep them blurry. People focus on 1 spot to do this. Once you see the image poop up you can then relax your eyes an look around and you've tricked your eyes into focusing on the image.
Some people think its fake, others are just trolling. just keep trying, you'll get it.
Last 1, Cheers OP.
I learnt how to do this today aswell.
holy fucking shit. i finally figured it out. usually i was only able to do the side-by-side ones. but now i can actually see them.
when doing it, it looks like there's two layers, with the one closest having a sort of hole cut out of it, allowing you to see different things underneath. my only question is, is there any way to know what exactly it is that i'm looking at? some of them are hard to tell what they are, even though i'm able to see the silhouette.
Just keep focusing in and out. try different ones then go back and forth to each picture. You'll master it in no time, honestly i hadn't done this before today. Now im considering myself a pro
Put your finger infront of your face and focus on it. slowly move it closer to the screen until you see it look its 3d in your peripheral. Pull your finger out of focus so your eyes are still focused as if it were still infront of you. Your eyes should try to automatically refocus the image to 3d, but you have to keep your eyes perfectly relaxed and let it come together in your vision till its focused.
Wow /b/. I used to get the magiceyes in the newspaper once in a while when I was a kid, but it was always a fluke. This thread has taught me the proper way to do it, and I've gotten every stereogram in this thread. Thank you for teaching me.
Yeah, I'm having the same problem. I THINK the 3D image is supposed to pop out of the screen towards you, but I'm seeing it go into the screen so it just looks like a weird jello mold rather than a 3D model of something.
To view parallel, look through the screen as if seeing a distant object. Recurring patterns patterns will merge. stop when they do, and give your eyes time to focus.
if youre a noob at cant just do it on command, one magic eye book I saw gave a tutorial like so:
put your face directly up to the image and very slowly back away. around the time it stops being blurry from being too close the 3d image will also become apparent. Basically you're trying to focus your eyes on something that is 2x the actual distance of your eyes to the image. For some reason doing it this tutorial way helps many people do that
One of my personal favorites was from a porn thread where they had two moving gifs next to each other that you had to overlap and the whole thing moved in 3D. The there was one where they had a figure posed in different styles but when you crossed them they all became 3D at once even though it looked like it was supposed to be one figure at a time. I don't have them anymore, so if anyone else does, please post it
The nice thing about cross-eye is the the images can be much larger = higher resolution. That's because parallel images can typically only be as far apart as one's eyes: it's very hard to spread your eyes wider. With cross eye, you have much more range over the angle, so the pictures can be very big.
