Don't get too depressed after you startcutting calories and find you don't have the energy to properly work out as well. Take walks. Cut out sugary drinks (including fruit juice) altogether, drink shit-tons of h2o and eat as much bulky, low-cal veggie matter as you can choke down. Oh, and take a fiber suppliment. Crush it, anon.

And as for cheat days, they just dont really work for me. I can easily take down 10k cals in a day if I decide to just eat whatever I want.

If I was having a cheat day, heres how it could easily go.
Breakfast: Pain au chocolate or some other pastrys. Around 1000 cals.
Lunch: perhaps 2 small pies, a pork pie, some cheese, large bag of crisps - 2000 calories minimum
Dinner: Large pizza, garlic bread - 3000 calories
Sweet stuff: Tub of ben and jerrys, 2 large bars of chocolate, bag of haribo 3000-4000 calories
10k calories really isnt a challenge. Im not in denial and I dont wanna be fat, but its hard to battle. Not that I eat like that often, Im just saying it can happen. I do go to the gym, and Im currently losing weight though.

Hey, at least it sounds like money isn't a problem for you. If there is one thing on that list to which I'd apply the banhammer, it's the Ben and Jerry's. Ice cream is a mug's game. Tons of calories and does nothing to fill you up. It's also one of the most rewarding for the food addict : sugar and fat in the most easy-to-consume form. Plus B&J hit both the novelty and quality angles hard, so it feels like something much more special than it is. Finding something like that -- something you have semi-regularly -- and cutting it out can be empowering. Once you realize how little you miss it, you can work on excluding other unnecessary shit.
Im not saying I eat 10k every day. Im saying that if I was to binge eat for a day, it could easily be 10k calories. My point was, cheat days dont work for me, because even if I go at 1k cals deficit a day, for a whole week, I can easily wipe that out in a day.

I think, and several others have said this now, the problem is because you don't do a cheat DAY, you do a cheat MEAL.
And some people, and I'm one of em, cannot moderate food intake well.... people like us, it's better not to even have those cheat meals because once you've broken the rules, it's easy to keep doing it. A cheat meal becomes two, then it becomes a whole day, then you keep splurging for a few days, then you relax your diet, then you fall off your diet entirely.
Also, one more thing. Mari-fucking-juana, I love it, I will gladly smoke all day. Helps greatly with my depression, insomnia, aches and pains (I'm older, you'll get em too if you don't have em now), and it makes work go on autopilot (I smoke enough to not seem visibly high or act it, but enough that the day flows by).... the downside is I cannot follow any type of diet well if I'm smoking all the time, and if I'm smoking, it's not an occassional thing, it will be all the time.
I can do all or none. Binge or abstain. Guys like us are best off not doing cheat meals/days or smoking pot.
