germany.
all folders that can be opened and locked one handed are illegal to carry.

and with enough time you can even operate a fucking opinel one handed.

so they outlawed pretty much every decent folding knife.

on the other hand you can carry a 4 inch fixed blade legally.

Criket is pretty cheap shit...look up the made in china Syperco's (Birdseye??)
or the san remu - made in chine generic versions of knives sold in bix box stores for about 1/2 the price

Kershaw makes good knives that are affordable- look for the Kershaw blemished "blems' that have minor visual issues but still function perfectly.

Cheap knives suck.

Cold Steel makes some decent affrodable fixed knives that are strong AF, ad under $25.

BEST bargins:
Mora fixed blade knives from scandinavia for $15
or
The folding Opinel from france- great steel and simple non tacticool design, from about $10

If you want a big horking folder- the Onatrio Rat 1 is a solid beast.

All available online or on amazon

Decent price, effective, lightweight, doesn't snag on shit, and has serrations so perfect for everyday use. I'm a butcher and a beekeeper, doing stuff with ropes and flat straps and what not eventually any knife that isn't a kabar pretty much WILL run into issues. I don't like spending to much on something that won't last anyway and these I found to be a great inbetween. Plus being a butcher for 10 years I know how to get a razor edge that will last

Not in actual use.
I could probably snap a 940 in half with my hands.

Up and down force on the axis lock is solid enough, it's the side to side forces where it's much weaker than a fixed blade. I bet the marketing demonstration didn't show you that, though, so you wouldn't know.

As a butcher I'll happily disagree with you on that one, wood is superior for many applications. My ones I use now I made myself with maple on the fingertip side and walnut on my palm side, great grip. Micarta is terrible with fish as well, they make terrible filet knife grips and pork and chicken both make it super slick, beef makes it sticky

>>
>>702942821
field dressing isn't butchering though, I'd imagine it'd be good like it is with beef once it's been bled. For some reason beef just makes it stick to my hand so well, porks makes it feel like a wet bar of soap, only if I drop it I won't get raped but I'll definitely get penetrated.

I have like 10 more of these skeleton handle ones still lol, you're right they really have gone downhill when it comes to knives, their multitools still rock though. I carry a Leatherman wave though too pretty much anytime I'm outside of the house an not going to dinner or something like that you never know when you'll need stuff and a decent pair of pliers can fill in for a lot of tools and hardly anything can fill in for them though. The steel on the blades of a Gerber is damn decent for holding an edge though and is easily worked
>>
>>702944442
>how the fuck are you putting that much force on it??
>that much force
Come on, even if you're 15 you can't be that dumb. The axis lock might be able to withstand a billion pounds of force or whatever, but it doesn't matter if the joint where the blade meets the handle is weak. It doesn't take "that much force" to break the joint, regardless of what kind of lock the knife has. Just buy a benchmade and try trashing on it so you can learn what kind of beating the knife can really take. Then you'll see.
>>
>>702936582
Those are damn ugly. Cold Steel is quality shit tho

>>702944442

All I said is what the lock could withstand on a downwards force, your Zero Tolerance fan boy ass took it into your own hands, it's a D2 blade which was crafted as a tool steel to be used and battered, anodized D2 liner lock and the g10 handle, it's a solid knife and if your bitchass would get over yourself you'd see that

Wouldn't that make the blade itself lesser in quality and not as stable, sturdy, strong, etc?

Isn't that why they for instance punch like 6 holes in a balisong trainer, so negate the purpose of sharpening it into a functional blade?

I reckon that one hole isn't a bonus for the blade quality.

Not the other anon, but a knife is only beneficial if the attacker doesn't have a weapon

If they have literally any other weapon, including another knife, because you have to get so close to even use it, the chances of you getting gravely seriously injured goes up astronomically.
As the saying goes, the loser of a knife fight dies in the street, the winner dies at the hospital.
>>
>>702950695
>Yeah. But a sharp blade is better than your fists.
I agree, but i'm also trained and practice daily.
>or not.
I disagree, the average person isn't mentally prepared to be cut with their own knife. The average person also tends to believe that their knife is the master sword and one swipe will destroy their opponent. Also, there isn't a single law to protect you if you use a knife for self defense. There are laws to protect you if you use your fists or firearm.

My go to for self defense
Firearm
Fists or tac flashlight
Knife

A blade should always be your last resort self defense item.

Because simply engaging in a lawful practice that you disagree with automatically categorizes someone as a moron.

And people that lawfully carry aren't "running around" with guns. They carry out their normal daily affairs. They just happen to take steps to own personal responsibility for their safety outside of the home. Because sometimes waiting 10-20 minutes for the cops isn't enough.

I really like this knife. It's dirt cheap, it's only about the size of a pencil, and it's got a cute shape, yet is practical for urban-type knifey-things. The name is stupid and it'd be a little to easy to lose your grip and cut yourself, but you really shouldn't be using it for anything too heavy anyways.

Also, it's fixed but still easily fits in your pocket.

9/10 would purchase again.
>>
>>702951468
>There are laws to protect you if you use your fists or firearm.
only in 'murica

on the other hand I have to give some points to this anon. a knife has no power to stop somebody as opposed to your fists or other blunt objects. Most knife wounds are not registered in-fight if there isnt a major blood spill immediatly bc of all the adrenaline. so even if you slash/stab someone midfight, his punches/kickes/whatever will still hit you straight (since holding a knife lowers your meanings of defence)

A thousand times this. Knife fights are ugly, ugly affairs...you'd have to be high or have serious mental problems to engage in one. I cannot imagine a defense situation in a 1st world country that ends in a knife fight, even as a last line of defense.

Yes sir. That's a fine ass knife
>>

More bikers and rednecks have been stabbed in bars and parking lots with that knife than all other knives combined.
Can't argue with a track record like that.
>>
>>702952987

Yea that is too expensive. If you shop around you should be able to find it for less than half of that though. I'd happily pay 20 US dollars for mine again, but I'd never pay 40 for it.

I don't know if Massdrop operates in the EU but it cycles through there from time to time at low prices.

did you storm the beaches of Normandy ? Or did that poster surrender himself ? When faced with certain defeat surrender was a better option then having more civilian casualties. The Germans swept through most of Europe so why doesn't the rest get the same stigma ? If the states were next to Germany they would have flattened a line half way through the US before a proper response could have happened.

>>702949088
unreal, i put that in my amazon cart just this morning cause im tired of whipping out my huge unnecessary spring assist that scares people
is that knife worth the 40 dollar price tag? Im not opposed to spending, but i want a decent knife without spending top dollar

Knife fights are for suckers. It usually ends up with 2 people dead. I have no problem running away from a guy with a knife. But if cornered or trapped- I'm not afraid to go down swinging.
And most people lose all interest in fucking with you if you pull out a good size piece of sharp steel and look ready to use it. NO ONE wants to get cut.

2 on 1 is considered deadly force- even if they're unarmed. Are you going to go toe to toe with 2 or 3 people at once??

You can also cut someone on the hand or forearm, or even the forehead to stop an attack without using lethal force. Just because YOU'RE a dumbass, doesn't mean everyone else is.

Have you ever actually been in a fight or thrown a punch?

not much value in this collection, never really planned on collecting either, just kinda happened.
The wood handle is my desk knife. basically sits in my room. doesnt see much action but its there when i need it
Silver re curve is my car knife, belt cutter, glass breaker, also gravity assisted.
black handle is my EDC. not a 10/10 but it's exactly what i need for casual carry.
blue mtech is my work knife. its probably illegal in my area cause its spring assist, but its a workhorse. gets nicked from time to time but thats why i bought a cheap work knife
blue spyderco sees no action anymore. it holds a special place in my heart, as it was my first knife. my dad gave it to me in third grade and ive had it ever since.
cheap collection im aware, but it suits my needs.
>ADVICE NEEDED
I am looking for something classy. wood handled, drop point, (bottle opener would be killer) if anyone can recommend please do
