A great part about the show is that it doesn't try to be a preachy SJW drama that inserts excuses for particular demographics with every chance it gets. The creator, David Simon (a Jew), also wasn't hesitant to portray the sheisty Jew lawyers who were notorious in Baltimore in the 70s and 80s for getting violent career criminals off the hook for a slice of the blood money. He specifically said he put that in the show because attention needed to be paid to that fact. It is an incredibly interwoven and complex show and you've really got to be good at referencing multiple characters and subplots to take in the whole picture in. I've watched the series 4-5 times through and I still pick up new info each time I do.
I think it's a great show and this is coming from someone who hates niggers and kikes like it's Germany 1939.
