god-tier tv shows.
i'll start: the wire
The Big Bang Theory is probably one of the best comedies of all time.
I don't watch a lot of drama though
No person who has watched both versions and is clinically sane, would prefer the US remake over the original.
It's 12 episodes (and a christmas special) of pure genius
different anon here. i had a room mate in college who would watch it so i would catch an episode every now and then. it had it moments of being funny but mostly its just the same old recycled types of jokes and got stale very fast. i think its not the worst show ever but highly overrated and if you never see it your arent missing much.
Merlin is fucking amazing. Probably one of the best bbc shows out there. Although I never hear anyone talk about it.
i wouldn't call it pure genius, although i agree it is great. Partridge however...
You don't watch one season of The Wire. You watch the whole 5 seasons because it's like a novel: every chapter has its own characters and storylines but everything makes so fucking much sense at the end. It's glorious television.
You know, I actually really liked that show as well. Little cheesy but I did enjoy it enough to watch it through twice. And Morgana is so find before she goes all Emo witch mode.
I really love psych. Although I think the earlier episodes are better than the later ones. But you guys should still give it a shot. The entire show is on Netflix for anyone who wants to watch it.
Why no season 6? The idea was good, the whole season was very dark and fucked up for the characters. but I didn't care for the purgatory part at the very end. I think they fucked up that part
Seen every episode about 100 times, but still get stomach cramps from laughing
True. Also this show was the first adventure show ever that made me actually despise the main villain. I really hated when Morgan showed up and caused havoc. I was always hoping she would get her comeuppance.
It will never date while institutions rule the world. It's the best examination of the dynamics of institutions and the power they have over individuals. I'd say it's the best sociological study ever put in art form.
I like TV series that make you think and learn. Order not specific except for The Sopranos and The Wire which are clearly the best.
>House of Cards
>Sons of Anarchy
>Better Call Saul
>Billions (not so great)
is it worth getting into walking dead /b/
heard mixed reviews from people i know. some love it, some gave up half way through
blackadder goes forth
robbi, tobbi und das fliewatüüt
kimba der weisse löwe
Hmmm, I enjoy watching it but it has serious issues, last season had some pretty good episodes but even more bad episodes acting like filler. So far the only seasons I've actually liked were S1 and S5, the others were just meh
>kimba der weisse löwe
watched both, love both
but, i prefer the US office, as it's lighter, with a more thorough and detailed storyline, and just overall time to really get to know and love the characters
not that UK isnt the fucking shit, just my preference
>I like TV series that make you think and learn.
>band of brothers
>true detective (season 1)
>fargo (season 1)
Not necessarily in that order
Currently watching stranger thinds. Shit is good but not tier 1
It'll never be dated for people that remember mobile phones not being a big part of life. Some kid now who grew up with having a phone from the age of 4 is going to struggle with understanding what it was like when they were new.
law and order - the michael moriarty years
>0 results for dexter
WHAT THE FUCK
/b/ really is shit
I'm with you man, Dexter is an amazing show
Worst show ever.
I watched the whole first season thinking I had found a good comedy show.
It´s not funny at all, the characters are just all retarded and the scripts are lame, I cringed during most of the season, decided not to look for further episodes.
Has noone mentioned Arrested Development yet?? What is wrong with you people???
Wire is amazing
Twin Peaks is amazing
Two shows I'm missing - Shield and...
i think it's southpark/brickleberry tier
I was told this is the Italian Wire. next on my watch list.
this is nice too, amazing atmosphere. if you want something different.
when characters act deliberately stupid just to make the series interesting and keep the action rolling that kills it for me. the last season was jam packed with unbelievable retarded decisions by most main characters. the writers ran out of ideas, but because it makes a lot of $$$, they have to keep moving. Shame.
Hear me now, bo, selecta, swallow back, holler, big up ya self, everything that I in, coming at ya like Cleopatra, come in a couple of bars, recognize, represent, keep it real, you gotta check ya self before ya wreck ya self, swallow back...oh yeah, and hello
what the FUCK is wrong with you?
A great part about the show is that it doesn't try to be a preachy SJW drama that inserts excuses for particular demographics with every chance it gets. The creator, David Simon (a Jew), also wasn't hesitant to portray the sheisty Jew lawyers who were notorious in Baltimore in the 70s and 80s for getting violent career criminals off the hook for a slice of the blood money. He specifically said he put that in the show because attention needed to be paid to that fact. It is an incredibly interwoven and complex show and you've really got to be good at referencing multiple characters and subplots to take in the whole picture in. I've watched the series 4-5 times through and I still pick up new info each time I do.
I think it's a great show and this is coming from someone who hates niggers and kikes like it's Germany 1939.
has a strangely similar feel to it. though totally different. yet again, the atmosphere is nice.
The ponyfag in me wants to say MLP, but the rest of me wants to say scrubs, so I'll go Scrubs
if you think this is anything but perfection, fight me.
Did Twin Peaks ever wrap up all loose ends, and resolve its story lines in a decent finale'?
Serious question. I enjoyed it when it aired, but lost track along the way. Busy life....
If 50% of the people call a show shit, and 50% of the people think rainbows fly out of its ass, you're not sure if it's worth it.
If 75% of the people think a show was solid and worth a watch, and 25% disagree, then that's more conclusive.
I just woke up. Should've said "more conclusive consensus." Better?
Stick with it and go in blind, its fantastic
nah, it was cut in half with a cliffhanger (actually 3-4 cliffhangers). but a new series is on the way, will be out in 2017. I'm a bit sceptic though, Lynch has gone totally mad since then. most of his films are hardly bearable.
crazy how this hasn't been posted yet, basically got in SPACE
The writers where forced to reveal the murderer of Laura Palmer halfway through S2, after that it goes down hill big time. S1 is a total masterpiece of fiction, S2 is boring and lame.
Just finished Narcos season 2 and it was pretty good for being based on the true story. 7/10 solid show
Anyway, my favorites in no order
>Game of Thrones
>House of Cards
>The Office (US)
>Dexter (but only the first 4 seasons)
>Weeds (should be more popular, it's great)
>Sons of Anarchy
Many more I can't remember atm.
How has this not been mentioned? pic related
Get on my level plebs
Also, Strangers With Candy
Get on my level, plebs
Neon Genisis Evangelion
Basically redefined Anime and is the most complex and character driven drama i have ever seen. Absolute 10/10
I even gave you a link
A pretty OK drama, great performances and scenes but sometimes lacks scale and urgency to make me care.
As in upside it has Aaron Paul in it ( Jessie from BB)
So looking forward to their new show on Amazon. The producers and crew from TG all left with Clarkson and will be doing The Grand Tour with him. Can't come soon enough in my opinion.
Ok listen up faggots, some mentioned shows are definitley god-tier, others are shit.
Here's a list of quite unknown shows that i personally enjoyed. Most of them are more or less sophisticated (at least in comparison to the standard):
American Crime Story
And Then There Were None
Borgia (UK version ofc)
Hatfields & McCoys
House of Cards UK
House of Saddam
Mad Dogs US
Show Me A Hero
The Black Donnellys
The Forsyte Saga
The Honourable Woman
Thee Last Kingdom
The Last Panthers
War and Peace
>mfw ppl think the sopranos or the wire are better than deadwood
>mfw ppl thin s3 of deadwood is sub-par
>mfw eb repeats the exact same thing i just fucking said to him in different fucking terms
Season 1 was pretty good. Season 2 was average at best and made me give up on it. I had no will to download the third season after painstakingly making my way through those drawn out episodes centered around the docks
or how many times i fapped to peggy & kelly wincest fantasy
If it's not exactly what you expected then you're doing it wrong. It's the "I'm too old for this shit, but I've still got it" trope. Not to mention, it's actually pretty decently canonical.
Also, that Xena booty, though.
fuck replies are fucked up
this comment wasn't even posted when i replied
narcos really gets slept on imo
also captain power b/c my childhood and badass intro and jerking off to jessica steen
I understand they go with the too old for this shit angle.
>obvious is obvious.
But it doesn't work great either. a young Bruce would've been a better show.
I still love Campbell, and will always love Lucy.
But I dont like the writing that much.
And I Fucking HATE the casting of the two sidekicks.
also all the jail shit and stringer usurping avon's empire.
>s2 tuh docks white boys wtf
pretty sure this is a /tv/ meme tbh
I swear to fucking kek, this is the shit
Young Bruce WOULD have been better, but that's not possible.
The writing definitely has its moments. Making her parents Jewish was great and they played that well.
Ehh. They're more there to be relatable to the younger generation who didn't actually watch the trilogy anyways. I know what you mean, but they kinda work in an unexpected way.
I had something longer typed up, but the app crashed.
>The Last Kingdom
Recently watched it and was taken back.
Nothing quiet compares to it even though viking shows have been done before.
I was hooked after the first episode. (netflix)
my only complaint would be I'd like to see more nudity. Seems like it goes out of its way to not have any sex scenes at all.
holy shit, when the mexican alien jumped out of the dude's chest screaming "Ayayayayayaaaaa" I burst out laughing
oh fuck I saw the pedophile episode of this, but I've never seen the pilot. how is this even on TV
the girl is hot but not my first pick for the role.
I guess I have a hard time looking at that Mexican's face and how the writing is trying to make the two a couple. Totally wrong person for that role.
Obvious, unbelievable, crap, and it totally throws me off from the show.
>That being said, I prob will watch season 2 for Lucy.
