Hey guys, just a quick question.
Is it possible to get addicted on weed?
General stoner thread
Nope. When you are high on weed it blocks chemical uptake in the blood brain barrier of all other substances. So you can use things like heroin and cocaine and not get addicted while you are on weed.
Source: I'm a neurochemobiologist working for the US Navy.
yeah, pretty much. it's not a physical addiction, but a very strong mental one. once a stoner, always a stoner.
You can become emotionally addicted to anything, that is where most alcoholics come from and really clingy girlfriends. Don't be a faggot and you will be fine.
theres your answer OP. you wont get physically ill from withdrawals like you would from more serious drugs but quitting sucks. i just quit for 3 months and the first 3-5 days truly did suck. couldn't fall asleep, extreme boredom. i was fine after that though.
yes. you can be addicted to anything. if it effects your life in a negative way health, relationships, or finances, and you keep doing it. you are an addict. if not. then your just a functional piece of shit who is dependent on substance.
1. That's not hash. That's super shitty weed that's been compressed into a brick for shipping purposes.
2. The reason on you think that is hash is the reason you can't find good hash.
Aka get a better hookup and know what you are being shown/buying
Psychologically, yes. Physically, who's to say; there is quite a bit of research but like most drugs it's not completely understood. Weed is a weird drug in that it's effects seem to vary. Some people get stimulated by it, others find it sedating, others have mild psychedelic experiences while on it, others take it for pain management. While it's no freebase crack, I wouldn't ever write off its potential for addictiveness. Same thing with LSD, acid heads love to deny it has that potential even though a euphoric LSD trip can make cocaine seem like snorting flour.
Anyone know if there's any ACTUAL harm done by smoking stems or seeds? I know they can give you headaches or unpleasant highs, but can they do any more physical harm than smoking the actual bud?
Poorfag here with no extra cash and only stems here trying to get high and not die.
I think weed is fun/addictive only when you have nothing better going on in your life than getting high. Whenever I was bored I would smoke and the mundane bullshit you do when you are bored becomes fun. So if the best thing you got going for you is getting high then you will probably continue to do it.
Now that I have a lot more stuff going on in my life very rarely even want to smoke. I do still use it to fall asleep if I can't sleep after a stressful workday. Great medicine in that regard.
I will tell you my experience about it, I have smoked weed almost everyday for almost two years between 2014 and 2016, in the last month I decided to quit for a wile to avoid tolerance, because if you smoke everyday after some time you have to start smoking more to get the same high. I's not hard to quit, sure thing you want to smoke, but it's way easier than to quit cigarette smoking
if you have a shit life you'll get addicted to stuff a lot faster than when you dont
i'm cutting back from 2 grams a day to 1 joint a day and i get moodswings like a teenage girl and i sweat like a pig. my sweat stinks of weed.
Are you joking bro
Pls don't do hard drugs cause you'll fuck up your body Chem something fierce with that little knowledge
Get into some basic neurochem and read up on some studies, you'll feel a lot better in the long run
I'm going to have to say no,
physical addiction? no. you won't see withdraws or anything like that. You may feel different if you consume cannabis for a long period of time and then stop cold turkey - but this also applies to most routines and habits because your body is meant to gradually adjust to changes not change on a dime.
mental addiction? no, I wouldn't call it an addiction. It may become habit forming and the placebo of wanting/needing to consume cannabis may be there but again this also applies to various other activities and hobbies you may find enjoyable.
It really does come down to the person and how they handle their life. there a many many many people who can consume and stop on a regular basis with extremely minimal to zero effects and be perfectly normal. there are also people who have convinced themselves if they don't have whatever it is (refer to above) that they'll go crazy without it and must have it. you can become dependable on anything you find pleasure in but I will argue it boils to the person's personality, not the cannabis.
That's exactly right. You won't even feel the effects.
How long did your lipofellowship last? I've been considering that route for a few years but it just seems like a slippery slope...
smokebuddy / carbon filters / ventilation. odors expand, eventually the smell will creep to other parts of your room or clothes regardless of how careful you. go outside and do your thing if you live somewhere you can't smoke, chill once your done for about fifteen minutes for the smell to linger off and you should be okay.
This. I had to quit for work so my best advice if you have to stop is keep yourself occupied and exercise often to let out sweat
>smoke half a joint
>didn't exhaled the smoke out
>i don't remember anything from that point
>a cucumber, condom and some beer right on the groudn of my room
>dealer said it's "the new stuff"
>i am amazed
Think about what he is saying bro. If what he said is correct (basically the weed takes up all the receptors in your brain so that nothing else gets in) then you couldn't get high off any oth.... ah fuck it. If yiu are dumb enough to believe you should be killed off anyway. Enjoy your od bro.
Severe psychological addiction to weed is rare and nothing like anyone describes it like. I've seen a guy have schizophrenic episodes because he didnt have any weed. However in most circumstances you're fine as long as you arent using it to replace any other medications or as a crutch for a bigger problem.
I don't know but I'll let you know when I finish this.
Nice brick weed m8
Even if you could get addicted to weed, why would you settle for such shit quality
>inb4 only thing I can find
More people smoke weed than you think. Grapevine out for a dealer, and get shit that actually looks like flower and not geese shit
>almost everyday for almost two years
yes, it has 10 times more nicotine than tobacco cigarettes, but is the high that you miss most, not the substance per se.
It depends on the person actually, is not like you get heroin-like cold turkey
if you have to ask is too late, leave it for a while a couple of months and check how it affects your life
Ther are two addiction types. Pshysical and psychological. Weed addicst only the second way and it actually depends on ones preferences and shit. U cannot get addicted to weed physically. Read about them at least on wiki.
It's not chemically addictive, but you can form an addiction to it if it's all you do everyday.
People can be addicted to a lot if non-addictive things like Porn, Eating, Video Games, TV, Masturbation, etc.
Had a friend that ground up weed occasionally and snorted some of the Kief. Swore it got him high.
>not knowing how THC is absorbed into the blood
>being this beta
I began trying to educate him on weed and he said since telling him it seems like it no longer works.
He holds a grudge against me to this day for "ruining the high from snorting Kief" for him
First Reply I'll take seriously
I used to be heavily addicted to caffeine which branched from coffee. I used to work in a retail grocery store and got coffee for free and during lunch I always got red bull with whatever I had. Combine this with all 4 years of high school being about 4 cups a day plus an energy drink almost every day, withdrawal sucked. Migraines were my biggest issue, weed I've smoked for years and when my buddy got us arrested, we went two months cold turkey from smoking about an 8th per day. Never had withdrawal, I agree with another anon, it's if you have nothing better to do than smoke and enjoy mundane bs. I since have been graduated and have had jobs come and go as well as ever changing life situations, and I smoke when i want but never feel the need to HAVE to smoke. Caffeine is another story, different drugs, like comparing apples to oranges m8
Physical addiction a la Heroin, Nicotine, Caffeine, etc? No. THC is not a physical addictant.
Mental/Emotional addiction? Yes. It's a pleasurable experience and like anything pleasurable it can become a mental and/or emotional addiction.
Habitual addiction? This is the biggest one for weed. Probably every stoner hits a point where they realize they've been smoking every day for a year or two and they say "wait what? when did this happen?". It's easy to get into a routine and then simply follow that routine.
Practice Restraint. Practice Control.
At least one day a week you should put everything you need to smoke out in front of you or simply have it available and then DON'T SMOKE. If you do smoke, for any reasons or rationales, then punish yourself by not smoking for a week or even two. It'll a) keep your tolerance low and b) keep you from becoming too attached to weed mentally.
Here's an elephant pipe that broke and turned out to be full of resin.
Also stop asking this question, guys. It's up to you whether it's addicting or not. It's addicting if you can't be comfortable without it. It's not addicting if you can put the pipe down and learn to delay gratification.
it's about as addicting as food. I say this as someone who went from 400 pounds and one heart attack to 160 pounds. I'm still on medications daily, but I know addiction that isn't your standard heroin/coke/meth addiction.
Pic related, currently on MDMA
Take a puff for this anon
Haven't smoked the good Herb in a couple weeks due to being sick, missing work and less money in check for drugs and only bills. But had MDMA and I am rollin
Everything can be addictive. Love, computers, movies, taking a walk in the park. But your question is about weed:
Are you severely depressed and the only way for you to feel good is weed? Well guess what, it may become addictive because it's a need that must be filled, in order to keep the cycle of life going. It's not like heroin were you become addicted the first time, and fuck your life up. Smoke weed and don't worry.
While you might become mentally dependant on Marijuana it's hard to compare to the withdrawals that come with long term cocaine or opiate abuse. I know from personal experience that quiting hard drugs after years of use is nothing compared to quiting weed.
what do you duders think is better? joints or blunts?
i usually prefer joints, but every time i get out my papers all my friends are like "lol wtf roll a blunt, i dont like joints"
I've done cocaine heroin and alot of perscription pain killers/ hard drugs in general. I love weed and think it's a lot less harmful then these drugs but it won't stop you from being addicted that's just bs. I know from my personal experience.
Fellas, I need some help. I go to a Christian university in a small town and I just got here, so how do I go about getting weed?
If it were a secular school I could just ask around but here I'm not sure about it. Nobody here really looks the type.
Blunts are something I would smoke on a day off work with a group of friends. It's like a treat to me since they are typically larger and require more bud to fill. Joints are something that's more for smaller sessions or by yourself but I haven't been smoking as much blunts lately because I can't buy swisher sweets where I am due to flavored Tabacco ban. Swishers were my favorite but I still get Phillys backwoods or even the juicy Jay wraps from time to time.
Depends on what you're talking about.
Does it contain a chemical which will hook you?: No. It doesn't
Can you still become addicted?: Yes if you have a weak willpower or use it too frequently.
Will it become addictive if centralized?: Probably. It's best if marijuana stayed in the hands of small-time business.
just put two fingers to your lips like your taking a rip to random people, if they know what you mean, they know what you mean. if they dont, then who cares. thats how i got my hookup when i first moved to new york
Didn't take time to inspect OPs pic.
I saw a square shape on the topic of weed and instantly knew he got shit tier brick.
Stems, seeds, bug wing, I wouldn't even use that for edibles.
College kids are gonna know what it means regardless of whether they partake. Weed is pretty mainstream on campuses and stoner comedy is a popular genre. Then again, these days you're not as likely to be judged by millenials so I guess I'll give it a shot. Thanks.
Nobody will assume I'm gay. It's a Christian university in the Great Plains. They MIGHT assume I'm mentally retarded; can't be mad about that because it's not far off.
Nokia, but you might become dependant like a fucking retard, smoke weed everyday for a long time and try not to, it's like not taking a shower before going out, you are going to feel like shit, it's not a physical addiction but a mental one, this is a rare case...
Yes, you can get addicted though the chemical link is not as clear as with drugs like opioids. You DO go through withdrawal because you dont have the dopamine rush anymore for one thing- you will get bored, anxious and most have trouble sleeping. There isnt a whole lot of evidence but most potheads underreport negative effects of smoking bc hippy politics. Ive gone on and off the herb many times and its always a rough ride for a few weeks
honestly it must really depend on the person....playing the odds I'd bet no.
I smoke everyday for the most part...some days I don't and I don't even notice until I'm in bed like wait I'm not high or anything and then proceed to sleep.
I stop here n there for no reason and start again when new vidya comes out. For some reason I play games better high and I enjoy then and get more intuned to the story.
