AMG GT is hideous in my opinion, I already own a 69 corvette so buying another seemed a bit much. You should have gotten the Ralliart sportback.
It has the Getrag 6 speed DCT out of the MR, evo 9 MR mechanical front and rear differentials(so much more responsive compared to AYC/ACD cars), evo X hood, and optional recaros.
The Ralliart also uses a single scroll TD04 15t, so upgrading it with a direct bolt on turbo is really easy. Or you could swap on an OEM evo X twin scroll mani and choose a turbo that way as well for a bit more.

My dad bought it new and took really nice care of it, and a few years back he had it repainted and replaced the headlight housings which is why they look so brand new. It's at about 220k and about 100k ago he replaced the clutch but besides that it's held up remarkably well

So glad you guys didn't neglect it and run it into the ground like most SC owners do. My friend ron had a fully optioned out early SC400( oem Nakamichi sound system, chrome OEM wheels, factory window tint, traction control) and his parents ran it into the ground after it was 10 years old. They never washed it, parts broke and were band aid fixed with junkyard parts, and the headlights were useless. It was quick once he started fixing it up though.
It's sitting broken in his front yard waiting to be fixed still :(

Understandable, they are a good platform to build on. The suspension is pretty straight forward and coilover install is easy. Suspension mods are really beneficial to these cars. If you plan on rallying the car don't get the ST. The ST is marginally faster than the non ST models on most dirt stages due to lack of traction and the extra weight of the turbo system.
Skid Plate Guy makes great stuff. I'm working on a MK1 focus ZX3 rally car as a project. Going to pick up a plate soon, then onto wheels/tires and suspension.

Possible? Sure. But AVERAGE? sorry but I don't buy it. That means there's just as many people paying double that number as there are people paying half that. Across my extended family we've owned 4 of these cars and between all of us haven't had to spend half of that number combined. I've had mine for seven years and the car is 9 years old. Other than basic maintenence like tires and brakes I've only had to put $1000 into it to replace a couple of O2 sensors. I'd be willing to bet these guys are copy paying some questionable data to write an article.
