Brainiac - Hissing Prigs in Static Couture
>>702601416
for the love of hell I need more of this kind of masterful work to listen to. Everything after this was just kind of 'meh' to me. Suggestions anons?
My favorite band and one of my favorite albums
>>702602510
Less shitty prog metal
More good 60s and 70s prog
>>702602938
names/links?
Assuming this is God tier / 10/10

Colors by BTBAM
>>702603067
Hawkwind (first band that Lemmy of Motorhead was in)
The Soft Machine
Alphataurus
Comus
King Crimson
Bodkin
Amon Duul II
>>702603253
If you're going to listen to wank, just listen to jazz
>>702603443
fuck off
>>702603217
thanks for the suggestions. Not really my decades or speed as far as musical taste goes. Can certainly appreciate it tho. Is what it is. Call it shit taste or what have you.
>>702603443
o shit i was just listening to that
DEBAASERRR
>>702603506
Why, three cheers is fucking 10/10. Better than any other album they put out
GODS AMONG MEN
>>702603631
The point isnt to make you like it on first listen
The point is to expose you to things outside thetiny husk of your current knowledge so that maybe something repulses you enough to stick out in your mind so when you hear it again in the future it clicks
If you keep the same taste, you will live in stasis
Best melodeath album ever created

My nigga
>>702603689
If anything danger days is better
That's just a generic emo album with nothing new
>>702603167
demon days is gold
Death of a Bachelor was almost as good as too weird too rare
>>702603167
Only one listed that's worth a shit thus far
>>702602510
Black Crown Initiate is worth looking into. Great dudes, great sound.
Posted it last thread and Imma post it again
>>702603933
Aka "i'm 16 and havent heard Brainiac or Pixies or even Hawkwind"

Yeeaheaaah boiii
>>702603862
Danger days isn't really comparable to three cheers as they sound vastly different. Three cheers is my favorite mcr album, but Planetary (GO!) Is my favorite mcr song
>>702603786
I know where you're coming from. hence why i said I was appreciative of the suggestions. Enough priming of my brain with new music might change it in time. My tastes have changed considerably as it is. I cringe at some of the things I enjoyed listening to even just 5 years ago. Was simply looking for suggestions to expand on an existing style/sound I'm currently enthralled with.

I'm not comparing them
I'm just saying that three cheers is not god tier
but danger days would be closer, yet not god tier
not saying three cheers is exactly bad
just not god tier

>>702603955
thanks anon, I'll will check them out. Hard to find that prog sound with the juxtaposition of harsh growls and good vocals backed with solid musicianship.
>>702603411
Never even heard of this Bullshit, probably some boy band
this
Seems everyone forgot this lost gem

OP here. how bout this
>>702602510
You didn't like Watershed, anon?
>Suggestions
Definitely look into BTBAM and Dream Theater if you haven't already for dope prog metal.
Also, In Flames, Darkest Hour, Becoming the Archetype, Demon Hunter, Scar Symmetry, and Bury Tomorrow are great imo.
>>702604746
You think Brainiac and the Pixies and Hawkwind are bad?
>>702603912
Kys
Val Kilmer at his best
>>702604448
Cleans aren't as good as Mikael was back then but they're a newer band with a few great albums under their belt now.
ooi
>>702604969
I can't tell if I'm getting told kys because death of a Bachelor was mentioned or because I said it wasn't as good as too weird too rare
This
>>702602510
This for you
I know I'll get shit for this but I genuinely love this album, Matt Skiba did a good job replacing Tom, Tom was honestly holding them back
>>702604407
Monica
The feels I get from this album....cant even put it in words...... that summer..... fuck me

>>702605005
def. digging it!
>>702605288
Eh. The songs I love I really love. But mostly it's just meh for me. Cynical, She's Out of Her Mind, and San Diego are incredible.
>>702604540
It's a god tier album that restored my faith in punk music being not dead
>>702605133
You're getting it for even mentioning that zero talent "band". But then again liking a serial rapist just might be cool to you
>>702605553
The best songs were
Cynical
Bored To Death
She's out of her mind
San Diego
Teenage Satelites
Kings of the Weekend
And left alone
>>702604968
Yes.
>>702604899
Don't get me wrong Watershed was good but it just want ghost reveries for me. Dream theater is a little to symphonic black metal if you know what I mean. If I'm going for symphonic I'm going Dimmu Borgir when ICS Vortex was still a backup singer. Now they are just meh. I will peep your other suggestions
>>702605746
Yikes
>>702605680
Because clearly Brendan Urie has no talent despite having the vocal range of Mariah Carey, playing EVERY SINGLE INSTRUMENT on the album including background stuff like trumpets and such besides one track where I think he had help with drums? How is he a serial rapist as well?
>>702605812
Hawkwind would be better as instrumental. Can't dig the vocalist.
>>702605504
Happy to help anon. If you're into straight growling bands too check out Alkaloid, Allegaeon and Benighted. Really tight playing bands that are still active.
Cheers mate.
>>702605746
...are you even fucking listening to kims basslines??? like? "is she weird, tame, motorway to roswell" the bass alone makes the band all flow together wonderfully...as it should
>>702605756
I mean to each their own ;)
Not sure how you're getting symphonic black metal out of Dream Theater, but alright.
>>702606084
this
>>702606081
That's just like, your opinion man
>>702606123
I'll have to listen to more of their albums. That was more of a first impressions thing off their new album.
>>702605982
Did you listen to You Shouldn't Do That or anything off Space Ritual
Because that's them at peak
>>702606290
yah...true, as yours is yours
>>702606123
holy shit I completely forgot about In Flames, Come Clarity
>>702604450
asl?
>>702606303
Oh yeah, their new album is sorta weird. Check out their self-titled album, Train of Thought, and Octavarium to get a better feel for what they are.
>>702605975
>Brendan Urie
>Brendan
>dan
>>702605984
If all these bands are working for you, Revocation fits better than Benighted into that group if you don't know them, definitely a must listen for metalheads.
>>702607030
Oops my bad dude, I was kinda salty and just pressed a instead of e.
>>702603800
so much this
>>702607242
>>702605984
Not necessarily into straight growling. My taste is strange if you will. What I really love about Opeth (Ghost Reveries) and bands like *shudders* Lacuna Coil (the backup singer makes me cringe) is the balance of a great harmonic vocalist with an aggressive front man and heavy bass lines. If you can tack on good musicianship which changes time signature frequently and tone then thats a win for me.
>>702604540
>a band named masked intruder
>boy band
MY SIDES
>>702603506
The first album, that, is their only good album. In my opinion there's only like 2 good songs on there but it's alright whole way round.
>>702604118
You know how it is
/mu/ here.
You all have shit taste.
>>702609847
Name of the album?
>>702601416
Doolittle has like 6 good songs on it and the rest are like half finished musical doodles. Was so dissappointed in this album
>>702610595
On the off chance you're serious, it's In the Aeroplane Over the Sea by Neutral Milk Hotel.
>>702610884
You clearly havent listened to the album
The only "sketch" would be La La Love You and even that is pretty complete
>>702611058
Yes I'm serious thanks for sharing
>>702609847
You come from /moo/ and post ITAOTS?
How bland
>>702611067
Ok I stand corrected, there are 6 good songs and 9 shit ones
>>702611141
No problem! The only reason I said that is because it's sort of a meme here, so I couldn't tell if you actually didn't know XD
Is there any other pick?
>>702611434
Can't even name the ones you think are good so i can lambaste you for being a musical toddler
>>702611476
I've actually already seen that album cover multiple times so I just decided to check it out
>>702611566
Any of the first wave shoegaze groups that aren't that
Chapterhouse, Slowdive, Ride, etc
>>702611675
Ride is dream pop.
MBV invented Shoegaze, there is literally no shoegaze band before them.
>>702611594
Debaser, Wave of Mutilation, Monkey gone to Heaven, No. 13 baby, Gouge Away are good. The rest can suck a dick
>>702611924
and Here Comes Your Man. Forgot that one
>>702611465
This album is probably the best one to come out of that year, most memorable for me.
>>702606040
>>702606207
yeaa boooooooooooooooooooooooooooiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
Why did /b become /mu?
>>702611867
Then who are Loop, Spacemen 3, and The Jesus and Mary Chain?
>>702611924
>no Dead
>no Silver
>no Hey
>no Tame
>>>>No fucking Mr Grieves
we are done here
>>702604054
This one's great
pls
>>702613076
Are you 15?
>>702601416
Doolittle.
>>702613560
different opinion must mean im 15 lol
>>702604054
Badfish.
this album is awesome
>>702603167
Interesting. I prefer Plastic Beach.
Look at those fucking replies!! Based on what I'm seeing, I doubt there's anyone on /b/ younger than 30. check em!
could have been a big deal in 79
>>702612901
28 days later was the best zombie movie of all time
Also love fucking Debaser. Had a thing for tame.
All you fags have no idea.
>>702614221
Never said plastic beach wasn't amazing
