>>702549603 There shouldn't be anything greasy on a pizza except maybe the pepperoni, and it shouldn't be swimming in it because pepperoni is a shit meat. The sauce can have olive oil in it, but not enough that it's separated.
>>702549281 I've been to that pizza place before, pizza is actually pretty fucking good. I'm from chicago and know what good pizza tastes like, it's comparable to what I look for in a pizza. Anyone who bases their opinion on some shitty television personality trying to get viewership is retarded. Go try it yourself and let your own taste buds decide.
>>702552320 >I'm from chicago and know what good pizza tastes like Implying that a random Chicago faggot knows more than a trained, highly skilled chef who has nearly 20 Michelin Stars under all his restaurants. Go eat some more dick.
"Who cares about grease in a pizza?" so I answered him. There shouldn't be grease in a pizza. I've never seen that much grease in a pizza. MAYBE a pan pizza, but they cook it in a buttered pan so it has a reason to be so fucking oily you won't get a greasy pizza from a brick oven unless you fucked up. maybe you're using the wrong god damn cheese
>>702554228 The whole point is he doesn't have superior taste, he just knows what people like and gives it to them. It's guys like Panteleone who think their food is "da bomb" and says everybody else is wrong, that his food is good, that you have to like it. Ramsay sees that people don't like it and instead wants to give them what they want, he doesn't demand they pay for what HE thinks is good
Haha, I've actually been to Panteleones before. My brother lives right next to DU and we walked there maybe about a year ago. It was nothing special I remember. Tasted pretty generic to me, like Costco pizza, but at a way worse price. So many better options.
Fun fact: The very first Chipotle ever us around there.
>>702549281 I don't mind Pizza being a bit greasy but what Gordon had in front of him was fucking nasty. It was so greasy the cheese fell right off upon lifting a slice, no resistance whatsoever. Reminds me of this shit-tier pizza place by my old apartment.
>>702551100 >Pizza should be >New York style >Or Chicago >Pizza >American style Fuck off with your heartattack inducing, oil doused, cheesy dough. You're probably the same fuck who thinks a food made with fresh vegetables, dairy and dough should =/= unhealthy or it's done wrong.
Definetly pre Ramsay, I don't remember a single thing about him being mentioned and literally just learned about this now reading the thread. It's pretty easy to get to from I-25, or just take the light rail.
>>702556102 Kek my thoughts exactly. Although I imagine that that's p much an essential part of the show. Yanno blow the shittiness of the food way out of proportion so the endgame looks that much better.
>>702549281 What i don't understand is taking business advice from a european when it comes to cooking in the US.
the average US costumer only know 3 things : sugar, salt, and fat.
They have been used to these 3 tastes for their whole life. If you want to have a successful business, you have to offer what they like. And they don't like the kind of food that Michelin Star chef offer.
Just imagine going to india, and trying to give advice to an indian restaurant...
>>702558468 Did you know that over 60 percent of the restaurants he's "saved" have actually gone out of business within 18 months of his departure? And yes, the 60% actually do stick to the regimen and everything he laid out for them to be successful. I don't dislike Gordon, I just think he's nowhere near as talented as so many think he is.
>>702558362 Seconded, but that's neither here nor there, whatever that means. The point is Gordan Ramsay is just a byproduct of the wave of "mean brits" the plebians used to fawn over. Of couse he was going to hate the pizza, if he liked the pizza the peasants would revolt. He's just the Anne Robinson/Simon Cowell of food. If you value his opinion, you're retarded. But yeah, shemale cock is great. i'd dump my gf without hesitation for a big fat tranny.
>>702558280 > if you cant understand an email, dont answer > do not answer the phone > assume you are right, when in doubt > sleep more. you will get more done > no meetings > suppress the urgent > decide the outcome before starting i cant tell if this pic is intentionally bullshit or just bullshit
I admit that gordon ramsey knows what he is talking about, and that he is quite competent, but i don't care. He's rude. I would shatter his knees and force him to live out the rest of his life either in a wheel chair or with a grotesque limp.
Yeah, he'd still own restaurants and make TV shows, but he'd constantly be in the pain he causes everyone else.
The other thing is location. Like I said earlier, it's close to DU (Denver University). A group of kids could go get a large pizza for about $5 - $6 a person. Yes, they could get Papa Johns or somrthing, but maybe they want to sit down at an actual restaurant and enjoy a meal. You saw how big that pizza was, that's a God send for a collegefag. If they switched to some "artisan" pizza with extravagant ingredients, that place would be gone by now.
>>702558887 Did you know that the businesses he helps (100% of them) Are already failing and headed for bankruptcy? That's literally the premise of the show. There's no guarantee people will eat there after Ramsey leaves and it doesn't help that the place is guaranteed to be owned by someone with form for running a food establishment into the ground..
>>702559669 He promises that if they stick to his new menus, New procedural rules, what have you, that he basically guarantees they will have success. No matter how big of a hole they're in. Listen, as I stated before, I like the dude. He's just pretentious as all get out and I've heard that his culinary skills aren't near as based as he would want you to believe. Most (if not all) of his restaurants end up being run by the other chefs and sous chefs. However I do get the vibe that he really does genuinely try and help each and every restaurant that he visits on kitchen nightmares.
>>702549281 No, he gets paid to be an angry British person. He's had complex delicacies and called them bland, eats porker properly cooked to medium-medium/well and calls it "raw" (because only low tier plebs think pork still needs to be fully cooked) has had prime cuts of medium-rare filet and called it "too chewy" which is fucking impossible if it indeed was prin grade filet, has the taste buds of an edgy teen and cares more about presentation than taste, which I kind of get, but a lot of people would rather have the world's best tasting pulled pork that looks like crap than one that's been airbrushed, glazed with cornstarch, and presented on fine china that tastes like stale bread.
I'm sure he gets a lot right, but from what I've watched of him the fact that flavor means practically nothing to him and he can call something like sharks fin soup "glorified sea water" disgusts me as an actual chef who spent actual time eating food from around the globe.
>>702559514 Oh brave vigilante! Defender of the defenceless! please rescue the masses from the tyrant they unknowingly hate, rescue them from the pain they invite upon themselves when they ask him to save their failing business. Spare them from the torment they will unleash when they chose to tune in and watch his horrific abuse.
>>702560413 Well I actually love Indian food man. There's a lot of really good Indian dishes that aren't what everyone thinks they are (curry coated dry chicken, curry curry curry). I used to have a really good Indian meal at a restaurant in my hometown once a month, at least.
>>702558887 He's just loud and arrogant, good talker. That's what made him to the top. And ruthless. His own COOKS made his Michelin stars, not him. He's stare to judging their food and throwing tantrums if the meat is wrong color.
He is typical middle manager. Not completely talentless but there because he is loud.
>>702561335 Having eaten Italian pizza and Chicago, New York in their respective places- they're all good. It's the shithole restarants, etc. that dont care about food prep.. that give any and all pizza a bad name.
>>702558916 >And japanese people would argue that it's raw fish, etc...
idiots are wonderful, i hope your village values the entertainment you provide them with.
in the real world, people are different. my jap professor can't eat raw fish, my jap friend hates fermented naota beans, my vietnamese friend can't physically eat spicy things, i hate coconuts despite coming from a country that's has them on every corner.
why don't you try going through that rectangle shaped thing in your house, it's called a door and you can learn about the real fucking world instead of endlessly reposting shit you read on some website.
>>702563309 It's certainly far better than the industry average, but most of his places are in trouble. He spread himself far too thin. Calling him "chef" is a bit generous at this point. He's just another asshole tv celebrity.
>Second most Michelin stars of any chef in the world, trained by Joel Robuchon, the man with the most Michelin stars in the world
That Pizza looked disgusting. If a pizza slice has shit sliding off it like that, then its got too much stuff on it. It had way too much cheese and sauce. And the dough was fucking raw on the inside.
I wouldn't look to /b/ for answers on catering OP, since a good 70% of them grew up on fucking ready meals and were lead to think that grease = king of flavour. These people are the dregs of society, and if anyone here thinks that that pizza ACTUALLY LOOKS GOOD, then they should seriously read a book, take a class on cooking and shut the fuck up.
>>702563931 >gordons food is literal shit tho if you actualy ate an his stupidly overpriced resteraunts. not only is it shit, but you get so little portions.
to be fair, gordon's restaurants are socially prestigious places to take a girl or have a business dinner. if you want substance over style, then yes, by all means the local chinese restaurant will give you cheap food. but it's apples to oranges comparison.
also, i've heard gordon's restaurant, at least the one in nyc where i live, has been slipping in quality because gordon cares too much about tv. do you know anything about that?
>>702563204 Which is why idiots in this thread look pretty stupid expecting the pizza to be a stiff hold in your hand typical slice of pizza instead of something you eat with a fork like it should be eaten. Only uneducated morons who don't anything about cooking would think it should be like a regular pizza.
>Claims they have a sophisticated pallet >Enticed by "exotic" adjectives on food >Thinks a french sauce of grease, flour, butter, cream and stock isn't bad for you >Says non-sensical shit like "This wine has legs!" >Cuffs their jeans and wears shoes with no socks
>>702553074 where do i start, Ramsey a man who owns multiple restaurants around the world, one of them being in the most expensive place in one of the most expensive and high class cities London, The guy also has 14 Michelin stars fucking 14... he clearly knows what the difference is between good food and bad food. and a simpleton basement dweller on 4chan saying otherwise isnt changing dog shit. you can have you opinion but when there is clear smack bang evidence that he clearly knows a thing or two about how food should be cooked and taste then keep em to yourself.
>>702565261 Wasn't even my post you responded to buddy, but you literally couldn't have looked more retarded.
His point, his ONLY point, that you responded to, was that Japanese people (in general, not every single one of them) Would argue raw fish being tasty as fuck. And guess what? Sushi is a very fucking common dish in Japan. Raw fish is a staple. That's the average. At this stage you're not even arguing a point you're just disagreeing for the sake of it.
>People have DIFFERENT tastes preferences And? who the fuck said they didn't, you sperglord? Are you saying averages don't exist? Are you saying that sushi isn't a very fucking popular dish in Japan because there are some slopes that don't like it?
Literal. Retard. Your damage control is also fucking shit. Try harder.
Actually Marco Polo brought it back from the Native American flatbread. It was a popular post game snack of what we now call water polo. Except back then they used several old corncobs tied together with bison sinew because it would float.
>>702563931 restaurants like hes are not meant to be eaten by people who will order a mcdonald's then ask for a large. keep your fat panda paws away from actual quality food. Also you have clearly never eaten it since the one in Chelsea iv been too twice and my main course came to £35 quid so about 45-50 bucks? not to bad since you're eating in a place owned by one of the best chefs there is. its a place you go for a occasion or business not for you to go and undo your belt and go crazy. Class, learn a thing or two about it.
the point i'm making is that you go to ramsey's restaurant for socializing over a small plate of food. whether someone actually enjoys the food is beside the point.
>>702565524 >His point, his ONLY point, that you responded to, was that Japanese people (in general, not every single one of them) Would argue raw fish being tasty as fuck.
sushi is a cultural icon, and actually fairly expensive in japan. people there actually prefer poultry over fish, typically chicken or pork. i would actually know because i did a survey among japanese international students while in china.
>Raw fish is a staple. That's the average. At this stage you're not even arguing a point you're just disagreeing for the sake of it.
sushi is expensive as fuck mate. if you want staple food, you could not choose a worse food. rice and noodles are the primary staple foods of not just japan but also east asia.
you probably think the dressed-up, psuedo-sushi shit like dragon rolls/crab rolls are sushi, but they're purely american inventions.
>>702549281 Usually, but not always. I mean the reality TV show is both scripted and heavily edited. His advice is sometimes but rarely wrong, but it is oven boiled down for television into some straight forward problem solution format rather than legitimate advice.
In the dining scene he almost always records a whole plethora of reactions to the food. He will say good things AND bad things when he isn't sure and overplays both side to give himself more to work with in the editing process so they can put together a better complete narrative.
In this particular example if you watch it closely he says almost nothing definitive when it focuses on his lips. This is to give him plenty of room to edit around later.
His actual reasoning why the pizza is too greasy and heavy is more complicated than simply "because it's not good". Restaurants are businesses, you have to maximize profit margins and repeat customers. People really might love a pizza like that, but there are other issues related to that.
1 They will be so full they won't return very soon.
2. It's not exactly a healthy lunch option it's a once in a while sort of thing.
3. Also it costs a lot in sheer ingredients to make a pizza that big. a. Restaurants lose more money spending that much on ingredients. b. Any additional cost put towards the cost of the pizza itself is suffered by customers who don't want to spend extra money on a pizza they can't eat.
That all said even if this was all true, it doesn't necessarily make it the primary issue. There could be any number of other problems he doesn't discuss here for the purposes of entertaining television. And that's assuming his primary interest is in actually helping the restaurants at all.
Basically Gordon Ramsay knows what he is talking about as well as anyone could. He makes mistakes from time to time, but he's pretty on the money usually. It's just that what you see in television is basically just assembled for television.
>>702561840 i actually think you might be alittle retarded, did you not hear yourself? he OWNS COOKS WHO HAVE THEIR OWN Michelin stars and yet they still work for Ramsey. i mean this statement i dont agree with but im point out what you said and how your tiny brain didn't think of what you said
You're missing the point. He said sushi is expensive and it's treated as a special occasion. Just because a list said fish is popular doesn't mean sushi specifically and not a cheaper variety, even fish cakes or something, that's more affordable. It's like reading a list that beef is popular in America and assuming filet mignon over ground round.
>>702567448 >https://www.statsmonkey.com/table/20598-list-of-countries-by-fish-consumption-per-capita.php >Fish is popular in Japan.
>an island nation is one the largest consumers of fish
no shit sherlock. but how much of that fish is eaten as sushi?
>Raw fish is seen as the "tastiest" because among the 32 restaurant in japan that has 2 or 3 star, 5 are dedicated to sushi.
yes, i'm sure basing an entire country's preference for what type of meat is most liked on 32 fucking restaurants is undeniable statistical proof. i'm also sure that japan being the country that made sushi it's cultural icon (because sushi does exist in china as soushi 寿司 and korea) has nothing to do with it as well.
>Sushi is seen in japan, as one of the tastiest thing.
>>702566382 Like the chain Wolfgang Puck's before them, at this point Gordon's restaurants are nothing more than slightly upscale Cheesecake Factory joints for people who fancy themselves to be "foodies." They aren't even remotely classy or creative.
>>702554228 he's just an asshole in hell's kitchen and kitchen nightmares, withouth mentioning the editing they use. i've started to watch his youtube channel recently and i think they use clips from 'the f word'. The point is, in those videos hes such a cool guy, and that format of hunting your own meal is cool asfuck
>>702569074 >the average japanese think that sushi is the tastiest food
yes, some random anon on a chinese comic forum who's likely never been to japan, much less ever talked with a japanese person face to face, knows what the average japanese person finds the most delicious food.
