>charade
The presidency sure is.
>does your vote matter
Yes, but not as much as other people's

Imagine 3 men in a boat with a gaping hole in the hull. Two men are scooping out water as quickly as they can with 5 gallon buckets, and the third is using a teacup.

The one with the teacup represents the average US citizen. Yea, he's making a difference, but we all know he isn't going to be the one to keep the boat from sinking.

yes american politics is all a sham. when voting for president, the popular vote doesnt even count, only electoral votes do.

its easy to get away with it too because the average american is a brain dead idiot or just some sjw with mental illness that willdefend the flawed two party system we use, which has been abolished pretty much. every where in the world (except for countries run by dictators)

there will be a revolution eventully because some of us have more than half a mind and would live to massacre the politicians that have sold out america to foreign interests
>>
>citizen vote is only for 'popularity'
>the real vote is done by the electoral college who do the real voting

The vote does matter.
Trump has promised the wall, but he doesn't have the ability to build it.
Hillary has promised the wall, but she actually has the corporate and banking support to build it.
This is a big difference.

yep, people should look at it like this:
>What would true democracy look like?
>Tallying the entire nation's votes and electing who got the most votes, ignoring states completely.

>Now, what would a system need to look like in order for someone to manipulate it?
>Each state gets X votes and whoever gets greater than 50% of that state's votes wins all the state's votes, allowing candidates to focus on small groups, pandering to them in order to win entire states, while ignoring real problems and the country as a whole. In states where the votes are close, this allows polling machine manipulation in tiny amounts to win all that state's votes, whereas in a nationwide tally system massive tampering would be necessary and would fail due to being too obvious.

>but he doesn't have the ability to build it.
literally zero basis for saying this, he could build it right now with the money in his petty cash box. Finishing the wall (there is a shitload of fence already in place) is only estimated to be in the tens of millions. Small towns spend that amount resurfacing their school's football field. It's not a lot.

Generally policy wise, little difference as to who is in the WH. Gore would have wrapped himself with the flag and headed off to war as Bush did instead of quietly sending assassins. Obama has been a prolific user of predator drones, missiles and air strikes, and shipped more wetbacks out than anyone before.

This time is different.

Clinton=the enemy you know (more of the same)

With Trump one can only imagine. Considering the fails he's surrounded himself with, such as the three (so far) campaign managers (CEOs?), his mental irregularities due to, or in spite of heavy drug abuse, if elected it won't be pretty.

I'm an american political science major, step aside faggots. Our votes count is the short answer. The long answer is the constitution. I'll meet you halfway.

Each vote counts toward a mini popular vote which people call the "electoral vote" separated into electoral college districts. Governors and such will gerrymander and create a situation where they are more likely to win, but if a district decides to vote away from their average side then your votes will count.

The reason for gerrymandering is because of inherent stupidity in human kind. Would you trust the the power of rome to a bunch of idiots? no. so, we have the electoral college.

The reason why candidates tend to be so similar is because they are centrists. Republican is right-of-center and Democrat is left-of-center. If you were to vote for Gary Johnson or Bernie Sanders you would no longer be voting for a centrist, and, hence, different views.

TL;DR: people are stupid so politicians make sure that they don't make stupid decisions. We're afraid of fascism & commies so we stay to what we know.
