I play guitar and I mostly play power chords and chords but I have writers block plz help me write songs.

>>
>>702378279
Oxidising has clearly begun on those strings. Dead giveaway that it's time to change them.
>>
>>702378070
Some have naturally acidic transpiration...
Mine looks like that after 4-5 hours of playing. I'm not going to change strings every five hours... You can still play with those.
>>
Been playing for the last three years /b/ros but I'm mostly self taught so I feel like a real amateur still. What are some basic things I can look up and practice to git gud. Mostly prefer finger pickin.
>>
What are the hardest songs u can play?
Mine would be eugenes trickbag and minor swing
>>
>>702379291
look into Roy Harper, there's a channel called badspeech that has loads of lessons for his songs, mostly fingerpicking

that is how I learned to fingerpick

This is my Gibson Es 335. I haven't been playing music a lot for a long time. I used to practice 5 hours a day. Then I knew a lot of music theory so I could easily learn other instruments so I play about 6 diffrent ones. Yesterday I went to a Santana concert so I'm pretty pumped to play again.

Basically anything with the EMG 81/85 combo. Guitars with that all sounds extremely similar (not a bad thing, the sound works extremely well for metal), to the point where you can overdub with a different guitar and no one will notice. The main difference is in the playing feel.
>>
>>702382149
if you just started playing get one of the classic allrounders, i have an ibanez superstrat you cant really go wrong with those.

if you just want to SPECIFICALLY play metal music and nothing else you should go for something like jackson or dean

>>
>>702382890
>16 yo detected

but i partly agree, its not the instrument itself, but because of how easy the learning curve starts out. its over-represantation in popculture leads to a massive amount of faggots just going "yeah i can play guitar" when they can strum 8 chords and sing along with simple rock and melodic shit and all the girls keep falling for the bullshit.

what i wanna say is, if you can play a decent guitar and play in a band and make nice music youre a cool dude.

but pussychasers and tryhards that can only replay stuff made by greater men can go fuck themselves, essentially

Honestly, there's a lot of difference in electronic music, there's that really hard, ugly electronic stuff, but there's also more mellow, more natural sounding electronic. I'm guessing you've mainly heard that ugly electronic sound [from the pop culture, dubstep, house, etcetera], I get you don't like that stuff. I can listen to both more electronic and less electronic sounding stuff.

OP of 7 strings here

Well basically it's easy to figure it out if you're someone who knows theory

Its simple:

>i keep mine in B standard
So i win 2 steps and a half, which is pretty nice if you can into Legato, sweep picking or somplex chord voicing shapes
>the fatter B makes for a nice heavy sound if stacked with other notes(chords) or played sequentially for either a lick/phrase or riff

When you write a song for guitar, you don't just do it. You have to put emotion into your playing and play based on you feel and then most of the time, you get a song from that.

There is something I enjoy about big guitars.

You don't know what a big guitar is until you play a 6 string bass. But when I got used to mine, I simply cannot do without the extra versatility given to me by the extra strings!
>>
>>702389569
12 strings sound amazing! (proof: Stairway to Heaven.) However, they are tough to play arpeggios and single notes on, so they are a bit less versatile.

One more SRV. Funny thing about the unplugged, this guitar is not his, he liked the look of it from the stage and just picked it up instead of using his usual acoustic.

My father has alot of really expensive guitars I'm going to inherent when he kicks the bucket, I know I kind of sound like an asshole but like he has this Martin 12-string that was a couple thousand and that thing has the most fucking INCREDIBLE sound like nothing I own even comes close to it
>>
>>702400756
I once bought a 1978 lefty Guild acoustic for $50. Restrung that thing so fast, it looks kinda cool with the pickguard in the opposite direction. Guitar sells online for like $7-800, I'm sure it was stolen but if I didn't buy it someone else would have. Still feel pretty bad about that though.
>>
I play an Alvarez 5505, mostly fingerpicking and folk stuff. I'm really into American Primitive guitar, new age like Robbie Basho, John Fahey, and William Ackerman.
