I'd assume it's done for aesthetics, not to attempt to cover a flaw in their technology. In the original photo, even as detailed as it was, the Earth probably looked like a dude with a hacked shave job. They just patched up some of the rough spots to make it more pleasing on the eye.
However, people love to read into this shit, so have at it. I'll go get you all some tin foil.
>>702156029 Question for flat earthers could you explain how it's possible to cross the Bering strait and be in Russia in about an hour despite if we lived on a flat earth you would have to travel the world going east to get too Russia
>>702159340 and you can tell the exact details of which mountains those are on a 852x657 jpg packed with compression artefacts?
Wow. Tell me more about your inhuman abilities to extract data from a highly degraded, low-res picture.
I've spent about 15 years using photoshop professionally in my day job. I couldnt tell that. I can see that the two elements are closely similar, but I cannot conclude that the mountains beneath are the same or different.
>>702160981 Really? Why has _not one_ soldier from any of these countries which you cant name ever talked about being stationed for however long on an "ice wall" in the south?
How many millions have to be in on this whole conspiracy, who have never spoken out? Anyone working with GPS software? Everyone working in the Airline business? Everyone who worked on the Apollo programme, all 400,000 of them. All these soldiers who never talk? NASA's employees? Geologists and seismologists? Cartographers all round the world. Weathermen who get satellite photos of the weather? Every astronomer on the planet?
>>702160981 Your autism and lack of awareness of your own species is astounding. One man couldn't convince your only mother to abort her growing retard spawn, but millions of people in government manage to coordinate secrecy and cooperate militarily to guard and even prevent photography of a structure that should be large enough to see and photograph from MILES away?
>>702156029 They explain it: >"Using a collection of satellite-based observations, scientists and visualizers stitched together months of observations of the land surface, oceans, sea ice, and clouds into a seamless, true-color mosaic of every square kilometer (.386 square mile) of our planet."
Could it have been done better? Sure, and it's a bit shitty to have such obvious use of clone tool, but then again, what's so special about a cloud?
>"The land and coastal ocean portions of these images are based on surface observations collected from June through September 2001 and combined, or composited, every eight days to compensate for clouds that might block the sensor’s view of the surface on any single day" So basically it's many small picture from various days. Therefore they won't fit perfectly, and some shooping is needed for it to not look choppy.
It's more of an illustration than a complete photo of our planet.
>>702156651 it's a mosaic picture, you fucking retard. which means the fact that it's mosaic, means it has to be shooped together, and the patches of ocean and clouds were just sloppily pasted together. because who gives a shit, except lunatic conspiritards?
it helps to actually read their description: >>702162190
>>702162245 They're just gonna say it's photoshopped because it doesn't support their ideology but a flat earth map oh no that's real because they have been to space before and their theories aren't based off of opinions and false information no "we're the sheeple" for believing in scientific fact
>>702162799 That depends on your beliefs. If you believe God created the Earth, then sure it could be flat bc why not. If you don't believe in God and put all your faith in science and physics, then it would make more sense that the Earth is round bc it would almost have to be.
Even if there is a global conspiracy at work, why bother with all the deception? What difference would it make to the average person that would be unable to go to outer space or the far ends of the world there the ice wall is?
>>702156029 The satellite orbits the earth so the clouds reappear in later photographs that were taken maybe seconds or minutes later. They can't take a high-res photo of the entire planet at once, so they edited smaller, higher-resolution images together to accomplish it.
The image is a mosaic, designed around keeping the integrity of the landmasses instead of a featureless ocean or the clouds.
It's the same reason why you find weird image corruptions in antartica, firstly because there's little traffic in that region of space, and secondly because there aren't easily identifiable landmasses.
>>702163076 A lotta people believe the ppl at the tip top of the conspiracy chain are devil worshippers. If there's one thing the devil wants, it's for ppl to not believe in God. By saying the Earth is round and space is infinite (other planets like ours, other galaxies, etc.), it makes it seem less likely that God actually created the Earth and/or even exists.
If you're not religious at all, then I can see why it would be hard to buy into some of this stuff.
>>702162941 >been places not many, if any have been. >found varying degrees of shit, from mildly to what the fuck is that, jesus christ. >give over all information, freely to all for the good of humanity, we come in peace! >continue spending 1.5 percent of budget for next 60 years for all that humanity. >launch continual standing war with brown people.
Dissemination. You tell the people some things. Things they are interested in, things they expect, things they want to here.
You keep the good shit for yourself, while you figure out what the fuck, to get ahead in the world.
100 years time, you declassify, and disseminate the rest to the general public
Why would infinite space make it harder to believe in the idea of God? If anything, it should bolster the faithful as to the magnificence of His power, that He could create something unimaginably vast and unknowable.
>>702163840 I'm sure it's easy debating with 14 year olds on /b/ who know nothing about this subject so it's a good target for your "you can't prove me wrong so I'm right" arguments but how about talking too a real scientist that can easily shoot down your insane theories about flying space disk
You flatearths guys sound as crazy as Galileo in his time, but being wrong. Besides, let's gonna think for a moment that you're right. So? Earth it's flat, not like they show to us. OKEY. DOES IT MATTER? I don't think so.
>>702164286 gravity does not make anything "go down" >leave that to your gf on my dick tonight gravity pulls anything toward the center of gravity, aka the center of the planet. So to you or me that appears to be down and the sky above appears to be up. Really when you throw a ball into the air, you are trying to throw it away from teh planet toward space, but the earths mass is strong enog to bring it back.
This can be further demonstrated by the tides in the oceans as they shift toward the moon that is in orbit around the earth. Though its mass is smaller it is what "pulls" the water toward it. >pic related...it's a moon.
>>702156467 They use a collection of sattelite pictures taken over time, not taken at the same moment, clouds move so it's simply that the clouds have moved to a new position when the next picture is taken, they then put all the pictures together into the larger image. Thats why same clouds can appear severaltimes.
>>702162988 Flat earth is not a religious belief, it has absolutely nothing to do with Christianity. In fact practically no one this millenia ever believed the earth was flat, it is a misconception about dark and medieval age beliefs. The truth is that for thousands of years humans have generally believed the earth to be a sphere based on astronomical observations. This goes back to ancient greek philosophers like Pythagoras and aristotle more than 2000 years ago.
>>702165114 in the movie it is a giant ice wall that is surrounding them, it is melting and if they don't get to the boat the wall of ice will trap the water in and drown them. at the end of the movie. there are PAIRS of animals on the boat, husbands and wifes. does this sound familiar at all?
it is like Noah's arc, there is a wall of ice, and it was melting and raining, which filled the land within the ice wall with water. this is what happened during the flood of Noah's time.
>>702165216 And technically gravity doesn't pull anything towards anything. Gravity is a universal attraction that all matter exhibits. The denser the particle the stronger the gravitational field it emits, hence why everything is pulled toward the center of the planet; the center of the planet being the densest part of the body.
This is also why black holes have such a strong gravitational field despite their size being so tiny in relation to everything else. They are extremely dense despite being smaller than most planets and because of that they exhibit a much more powerful gravitational field.
>>702156029 That particular shot was taken by one low orbiting satellite, it can only view so much 'earth' at once so it makes several passes, and will take photos of the same cloud twice, because clouds move, right? Anyway, these photos are all merged to get one big one, and that's why you get duplicate clouds.
>>702165448 >How come only one country has been past the van allen belt with humans, when there was a race on at the time to do so, with another country who had a substantial lead. why waste the money? science isn't just doing random shit to look cool. because this shit is dangerous and expensive, you better choose the missions that can give you the most research data as possible, both in quality and quantity, to maximize the gain in knowledge. returning to the same dirt ball over and over again in a desperate attempt to convince conspiritards is not worth it.
>How come 50 years later, we've never sent another person higher than the ISS, even though there is clear mission demand to go further. no there's not. there's no demand to take humans any further... yet. again, there's no point in doing it just to prove they can do it.
>How come the only thing exploring anything is probes, when the "plans" and mission programming for trips further than the moon have been around since the 60s. because humans need space, food, drink, sewage treatment, oxygen, equipment, and so on and so on. that's a lot of extra weight, which means a bigger rocket, more fuel, bigger risk. but it's less complicated to shoot out a probe. no point in having a dude circling venus going "i'm so hungry! please take me back home!"
>How come all footage in relation to anything remotely resembling proof has been deleted, lost or never seen again? because you don't know how to look for sources. all you do is read flat earther website, but you don't actually know how to fact check.
>Why does the CIA own Hollywood? why does mib gangbang your mom? i guess we'll never know.
>>702165448 >How come only one country has been past the van allen belt with humans, when there was a race on at the time to do so, with another country who had a substantial lead. Lead wasn't anywhere near as substantial as the US believed, so the US spent absolute fucktons of money in order to beat russia. Meanwhile, russia were building tanks and anti-satellite systems and other shit
>How come 50 years later, we've never sent another person higher than the ISS, even though there is clear mission demand to go further. There is no mission demand because in the past few years, robots/rovers have become extremely good meaning sending people to mars is expensive for little gain while sending people to the moon is only useful for building a base/refueling facility in order to improve travel to other planets.
>How come the only thing exploring anything is probes, when the "plans" and mission programming for trips further than the moon have been around since the 60s. Rovers don't need food, water and oxygen, retard. Cost.
>How come all footage in relation to anything remotely resembling proof has been deleted, lost or never seen again? Because a bunch of people are either liars or delusional retards and the majority of this 'proof' never existed in the first place.
>Why does the CIA own Hollywood? To make it easier to plan operations involved in overseas, see the iranian hostage shit.
>>702167851 There is clear mission demand in the fact that since the 60s, missions to mars have been drafted several times and slated. We are even going through it again, for the Nth time, launches will be continually knocked back though, the rocket will never leave the pad.
Why waste the money? Hmm, lets see.... all that gain in knowledge helps produce all those space, food, drink, sewage treatment, oxygen and equipment requirements, which in hand gets passed down the chain, to affect real life on earth.
99 percent of footage of moon landings has admittedly been lost, directly from NASAs mouth, not some flat earther site.
Nice, comedic response to round it all up. Humor is often used as a defence mechanism when ones own views are ruffled and logic questioned.
>>702156029 It says in the description that the image is a composite of multiple satellite photos. Clouds tend to move,so it would make sense that we would see identical cloud patterns next to each other if the photos were taken over a long(ish) period of time, and then composited together.
it appears a lot smaller on the common Mercator Projection, because that projection makes things in the north and south (beyond about 40 degrees - particularly canada, greenland and russia - look much bigger than they really are.
here's a map of africa, with other countries fitted into it. the USA, China, India, and most of Europe could all fin into the land mass of Africa with space left over.
That's not one fucking picture taken from the moon it's thousands of pictures stitched together with a program. The program doesn't have as much to work with over water as it does over land and stitched some cells incorrectly
>>702159477 Flat earth maps are circular, centered around the north pole. Look at the UN flag for reference.
Here is one for you. Why do flights that go from one destination in the southern hemisphere to another always lay over in the northern hemisphere. In the globe model, this makes no sense. In The flat earth model, the flight trajectories appear as straight lines.
>>702157581 How retarded do you have to be in order to not only think that the world is flat, but that the weather and seasons never change? Holy shit, I mean, you've got multiple perspectives on a sphere, but that's somehow still twisted to serve your bizarre beliefs!
>>702169189 Yes faggot, flipped footage from entirely different landing areas with completely different geology and times despite not being sped up or slowed down.
If you really want to insist on being an idiot, go get a bunch of your other idiot friends to donate, say, $50 each. This should get you close to the $62mil cost of a falcon 9 launch. Now just get yourself a little vessel and throw it at the moon yourself.
>>702156467 maybe when clouds pass through certain parts of the atmosphere at a similar time similar shapes aprea ..... or even more likely nasa is a scam the earth is flat and illuminates rule the world
>>702156029 It says in the fucking image you posted it is a bunch of pictures of the earth placed together by artists. You can see how the cloud formations changed, probably as they moved into the next three mile area.
have you ever considered fact-checking the nonsense you come up with before you say it, and make yourself look like a complete and utter retard?
NASA has lost the high-resolution telemetry video of the Apollo 11 landing. it has not lost the low-res NTSC format version of the footage. it has not lost the photography from Apollo 11. it has not lost the footage, or photography from Apollo 12-17. (#13 excepted, for rather obvious reasons along the lines of them never landing on the moon that time).
One small section of one mission is lost. Not "Everything", and certainly not everything but a "single shot" like you claim.
>>702168399 >There is clear mission demand in the fact that since the 60s, no. you think they should do it is not the same as clear demand.
>missions to mars have been drafted several times and slated. because they can't do it yet. whoever goes there won't come back, which means you either have to send them to an instant death, which until very recently was a very fiery death as a missile into the planet, or to send with them a fucking house with all necessities including water, farming area, sewage treatment, bacteria control, and all kinds of shit. that's several big rockets, and it's only very recently that they've tested the isolated living. actually they just finished a one year test this week.
>We are even going through it again, for the Nth time, launches will be continually knocked back though, the rocket will never leave the pad. they've never come with a set launch date before. they have now. they've been debating how to do it, and how long it would take for technology to catch up with the wish to go. they've never claimed to be launching a rocket with people to mars, just to say "naw, we changed our mind!" literally never happened.
>Why waste the money? all that gain in knowledge helps produce all those space, food, drink, sewage treatment, oxygen and equipment requirements, which in hand gets passed down the chain, to affect real life on earth. errr... it's actually the other way around. the food and drinks isn't sent back down.
>99 percent of footage of moon landings has admittedly been lost, directly from NASAs mouth, not some flat earther site. citation needed. are you talking about all the moon landings, or just the first. the first was fucked up a bit, but there's plenty of original footage from the others.
>Nice, comedic response to round it all up. Humor is often used as a defence mechanism when ones own views are ruffled and logic questioned. "i'm being ridiculed! that must mean i'm winning!" ok, wimp lo.https://youtu.be/PvY6YQH9kE4
>>702165423 Why? If I wanted to amass an army to storm the gates of heaven, the very FIRST thing I'd do would be to convince them that there IS a God. Without an enemy, how am I supposed to unite them in the first place?
>>702169788 What? who said anything about 10s or thousands of not kilometers distance away?
I said 2000 kms, and I didnt relate it on pixel size or density, I related that in the (wild approximation, yet still relevant because ITS HALF A FUCKING CONTINENT amount of distance) time it took to travel from one side to the other, it hasnt changed a single little bit. Not one bit.
Cmon retard. Put some effort in if you wanna troll. The fucking cloud, made of atmosphere, in atmosphere, does not stay the same in a jetstream, moving across half a continent.
at 50000 ft the earth will look flat. pick up a foot ball and put it up to your face. it will look flat once your close enough. perspective is key. the closer you are to an objects surface the more likely you are to believe its flat (as the observer)
