ITT: We judge and make assumptions about each other based on our instruments. I'll start
Metal. Dist Fuzz and delay. That's what I would have on my bar if I was playing sludge metal live like I wish I was. Alas in Western PA most people haven't heard of sludge metal.
I think its cool you have an acoustic bass. Id say you like to think youre cultured by having acoustic instruments and a mandolin but really you probably only focus on one genre (nu metal) and youre probably ok at shredding. You dont know how to communicate with other musicians so you have to play alone. Youre definitely the cringey guitar guy at a party. You try to stretch your abities too far and everything you do ends up being mediocre.
Fair guess not totally accurate. I barely play guitar I have just had those since I was a kid I mostly play bass because I took it up as a distraction getting over a drug addiction. I literally bought the mandolin yesterday and have no idea how to play it I just started messing around with it. And the only party I take my instruments to is my co-workers Christmas party because her husband has an open jam session.
The distortion is for metal, fuzz for post-rock and I'm still figuring out, what to do with the delay. Still need a tremolo for surf music.
Not that into sludge or doom in general. I mainly play black metal.
These might interest you:
Not sludge but should be in your ballpark.
Based on the guitars You're either been playing for a while or got those from a family member at some point. Based on the comforter your female or you're wife is in charge of decor
heres mine, and my music
Just picked this up a couple of weeks ago. I have this guy and a Spyder IV 30watt
Banjos are for backwoods hick faggots.

That is all.
That's pretty nice.
I think in general, the "cheaper" or non American made instruments are so much better these days than when I was a pimply faced faggot with a guitar.
I'm sort of jealous.
That's a nice set.
It's funny how I hated my mexicaster (first guitar) so much but these days it's the one I would pick up to play first.
I should buy a fucking strat and get it over with.
guild acoustic .
also have mex tele .
and a danelectro baritone.
I see no Banjos, ignorant cocksneeze.
I may be a tobacco chewing hick but my momma/sister didn't raise no fool.
I'm just going to call "poorfag" already
One man band but you live in an apartment or at home still. I dont see any distortion peddles or a double bass peddles for your drum kit.. but I understand that only the expensive models have em. You doing black metal at all?
I usually don't dig on signature series or relic'd stuff, especially when it's a top tier brand like Gibson or Fender, but that's subtle enough that I'd be OK with it.
To be honest, I just wish I had time to play my PRS so I can stop feeling guilty about having such an expensive guitar. But I'm pushing 40 and it's hard not to look like a fucking jackass trying to re learn how to play enter sandman or interstate love song. Ha.
One man indeed - living in a basement apartment. No pedals for the guitar, just a shitty amp, so I plug it into my MBP and use GarageBand (which is actually really good for this purpose).
Mostly a drummer though, and lately have been using the MIDI out on my set through Garageband as well (way better sound bank than Yamaha's).
Ive always wanted a PRS. One time when I was a teenager I walked into a guitar store to ask to see it and I got one of those "Are you buying?" and I obviously wasnt.. Im very happy for you that you have one. Have kids? I hope they will appreciate it.
I normally am not into signatures either. But Behemoth was a band I grew up on and when I was playing live and painting my face like a jackass I covered some of their material. I want to have this guitar I just bought signed and then framed really. Right now I play it but so much of the calus from the old days are gone
Good for you man. I did one man after being in an actual band. Its amazing how much better the music gets when you have control over it all (at least..because you made it to your liking). Good luck man, any youtube link for demos?
Appreciate it! Weird getting support on 4chan. Nothing on YT or demos at the moment, though might have some old recordings from a high school band back in '05... playing now is mostly just a cathartic thing for me, but I have been trying to record more lately so there's at least some fruit from the 20+ years I've been playing.
What about you? Curious to hear what another 1 man operation can yield...
Eh. The PRS is nice and all, it's a custom 22 with the artist package and the Brazilian rosewood fiNiger board and paua inlays, but it's too showy for me these days.
I don't have kids yet (soon maybe), but I'm sure there won't be any fucks given about my guitars, cars or guns whenever I do have them.
Set ups on the right.
Swap the Danno Fabtone for an Idiot-Box Bass Distortion though.
You're 45 and your wife gets pissed when you play so you have to do it in the basement(your music room that she bitches about you having and you have to store her shit in there also)
I did some shitty black metal back in the early 2000's out of highschool. I had a band, we all didnt agree on stuff and I was taking it more serious than they were. I got signed briefly to a small label and then I kinda outgrew it and started chasing after women and getting bigger muscles. At one point I was up to 5 guitars, 1 bass, a digital drum kit, condenser microphone and once I was actually in a studio that recorded an album I never released. I ran into financial emergencies (started getting pussy) and had to slowly sell off my collection. Now I am just down to my new guitar and the microphone. The music that..somehow made it to youtube I am ashamed of to be honest lol. The album that was pro recorded I still have in my hard drive collecting dust..
here's part of my rig. this is the only photo i have here so it will have to do.
you stupid jew. You don't make music with DJ software. You mix music with it.
Anyways, here's a song I finished today.
I dare someone to guess the genre.
What do you guys think?
i've never understood how people play those. every time i played one, i never knew where to put my arm, over or through? too much to think about when i'm half shitfaced already and trying to find the set list
Whatever you say, it's probably true!
Peter Criss is the exact example of a retarded drummer that doesnt know how to fucking read music let alone write. Drummers are important, the strings are by far more important
It's almost trice as long and it isn't black, but the rest is quite true
It's a practice amp, I just started playing. Have you got any recomendations for pedals tho?
>recomendations for pedals
go to the music store, try them all and get what you like. it's a personal thing. i've always had good luck with MXR and Boss, but that means nothing. you need to use what you like the sound and feel of
If youre into Metal. The Line 6 series is the way to go. You can get the amp/effecst combo. The 15watt one is loud as fuck and does everything you need for $100.00 or less if you settle for used. If you want just a peddle the Boss Metal Zone has been praised as a good affordable peddle. It runs for maybe $40
Do not listen to a single word this dipshit said. The Line 6 Spider (the line he is referring to(, as well as the Boss Metal Zone are some of the most reviled pieces of gear in existence
here is mine..
i just changed the pickups.. i use dragonfire active now..
dat ibanez prestige...
OP that wrote the suggestions.
Those are my suggestions. I personally have owned both and loved em. They are cost effective and unless youre playing professional, will do what you want them to do or more. Anon here going off on his 9 year old tangent is an opinion... Then again the two products I have recommended have sold worldwide for millions. If you look on guitar center they are highly rated and have a ton of reviews.. Thats gotta mean something right? Im not going to entertain Anon here with arguing over equipment
Good luck Anon. Guitar center is a great place to try em. Plug into everything and just try. My personal opinion is to start at the Line 6 Spyder 15watt. Its small, powerful and has all the effects built in for a beginner. Once youre experienced youll know what other route to take
Sure. Honestly, I'd look into a Peavey Vypyr if you want effects. Otherwise, there are plenty of low-wattage tube amps that are great for beginners. Tube amps generally sound warmer, and take pedals MUCH better than modeling amps.
cool! what bands do you like playing? my tastes vary, i sometimes play death metal songs, ive been tabbing some vektor songs lately or jamming some vinnie moore and malmsteen tracks..
Not at home.. But this is what I have
Ok im done. Those are the highlights in the last 4 or so years. Up next is a custom acrylic drum set (kick and snare) with a 32 or 34.
2 69 svts ontop of a 70s jmp cabcloaded with EVs.
Yep. Learning different genres and styles supports other playing. And to answer your question about bands, I'm currently playing some songs from Emperor, Dissection Opeth, Mogwai and The Chantays. Pretty "boring" and "basic" bands in their genres but fun to play nonetheless. I should play some Burzum to practice phrasing and start tabbing some less-known bands I listen. Dawn and Crimson Midwinter have awesome riffs.
I gotta say that I like the tone of Martins overall more than Gibsons, but I still love my J45. It has a compact mid-range punch that no standard Martin can get. Also enjoy that dry and understated bottom end. Martin puts out some of the richest acoustics though. A D35 is definitely in my future. All I can say is that I think both brands put out quality instruments, and if it sounds good, then buy it.
I don't understand why people have like 6 fucking guitars that are all dog shit. Why not just buy one nice one and live life happier knowing you don't have twelve arms and will never need that many fucking guitars?
FINALLY SOMETHING THAT ISN'T A FENDER/EPIPHONE/IBANEZ
Nice vintage rick m8, I'm guessing you either like psychedelic music or just had a lot of money/inherited that rare.
Unless it's a fake, in which case nicely done
i have no 2 of the same guitar, so you have no point. and as i said before, price is relative, since the stuff i'm getting for $400 today would have ran me 1000-1500 25 years ago. and i can make my $99 washburn sound as good as my strat. as long as it's not a POS, it's all in my hands. so buttons
What's the point in owning more than one guitar? It's not like you can play more than one at the same time.
I can understand if you have an electric guitar and an acoustic guitar, but having more than that seems frivolous.
because that's america's native instrument. it was invented here, so you are going to see a lot of them. ever see any other string instrument with a machine head halfway down the neck?
In the case is a medium tier nylon string guitar
It makes them feel like some big shot professional musician to own more fancy looking guitars. Most actual professionals will only fuck around with one or two for the most part.
Not at home, but ill type a list
95 fender lone star strat
Bc rich warlock
Squier 70s modified jazz bass
Early 90s peavey p bass clone
Ome open back banjo
Deering good time open back banjo
Some no name open back banjo
so every time you play a different song you change strings for different sounds? how about alternative tunings? let's get basic, what about the difference in sound of a strat vs. a les paul or a SG? what about single coil pickups vs. duals? all this can be handled much easier by just having different instruments for different purposes. that is, once you move out of mom's basement.
>he actually owns more than one guitar for different tunings
Woahoah, I didn't realize we had a famous rockstar here. No time to tune your own guitar. Time is money.
