the first aerosmith album was awesome, along with rocks
Good tier :
>Bow down to your master
Charlie Hunter is pretty good.
Most guitarists you guys have posted have said Prince was better than they are.
Yeah but did your precious Dan compose a James Bond song?
Is he held to the same level of praise as Jimmy Page?
Did he get famous with possibly the worst drummer ever backing him up?
Sorry guys but for 40+ years now every rock lead player does stuff that was first done by Hendrix. Some dumbass known guitar players even deny the Hendrix influence just because it was indirect. You can play more classical than blues sounding licks, do tapping, and not even listen to Hendrix records, that will reduce your Hendrix influence from 95% to like 85%. Guy was the black Jesus of electric guitar, before him electric guitar solos sounded like Chuck Berry etc. then he came for a short time and has shown everyone how these wood slabs are supposed to be used.
Deaner is a fucking god
Let's just post photos of our gear and be friends.
Dude is on another level, just like my boy Paulie here.
probably because the current generation are offering up about 10 guitarists total and only about 3 of them are skilled enough to be considered virtuoso. the rest are riff stealing amateur hacks.
even pimple faced millennials have to turn to the 70s and 80s to find vast quantities of original riffage.
Give him 10/10 for being a rock guitar soloist
But 0/10 for anything else, because he never did anything else.
Again, when it comes to rock and solo rock'n'roll guitar, hendrix is one of the king of kings.
But it is the ONLY realm in which he his king, and pretending like rock'n'roll is the only genre that matters just makes you sound like somebody who has never been on a stage.
Johnny is good but let's not get carried away.
Also two British bands come out with moody, falsetto driven, arpeggios riffy albums and you're gonna go say one ripped off the other? Clearly you only compared one album with another and based your entire opinion off that.
Go fuck yourself.
Not a fan of Megadeth, or Nevermore, but I can concede this guy has massive talent.
You have no idea who this is but she can out play most of your 10/10s.
I don't know who that is, but Wata is definitely better.
This is best
I'm assuming you're referring to OK Computer considering that Muse's first record was released two years later.
Go listen to Hysteria and don't tell me that they didn't completely lift that bass riff and tone from Myxomatosis
Also, which one is also an accomplished composer for the London Symphony Orchestra and has written several film soundtracks?
Oh yeah, that would be Jonny.
a) I didn't say "Hendrix is better than Chet Atkins" because you can't compare guys from different fields, just that obviously such a thread contains mostly rock/metal lead players
b) It's still "rock" but lot of his rhythm work was rooted outside of rock obviously, and it's much less replicated (because much harder to replicate) than his full-on soloing. There's a lot more Malcolm Young than Hendrix in later rock playing.
This nigga ain't even a 10/10 he's like a rubber chicken/10
I fucking love this dude and you guys are plebs for not mentioning him yet.
Did not see Mark Knopfler and I hope I just missed him while scrolling, cause I am a bit disappointed in you /b/.
Actually I'm referring to The Bends/Showbiz
Listening to Myxomatosis right now for fresh opinion, fat digitally altered bass, ok similar to Hysteria's tone but the fact they both start on a pedal down the fretboard in no way makes them a like no. You are retarded. Myxo's keeps going down and Hysteria stays in the 10-12 fret box mostly. Not to mention Hysteria is bass guitar with more crunch and drive and Myxo is synth so again, different and really don't sound a like except for like the first 5 notes.
And Matt Bellamy has written songs for movies big woop, he's too busy sticking with his band mates than go off writing songs and scores being some kind of rock sell out.
That's the difference.
Radiohead (while great I love them don't get me wrong) were just alt/experimental that went off the deep end too many times and had some solid radio hits but remained this limbo bands of good and just weird.
Muse started same with experimental, seeing what would work but settle down with this symphonic arena rock anthem.
Both very talented but
They also had to fix a lot of his guitar playing in the studio even while they recorded IV.
But his main problem was that he recorded a lot of tracks with relatively simple parts on the records then tried to play it all at once live on one guitar, all this while being fucked up on smack, the occult and underage girls.
nowadays in soulfly, ex-sepultura
he uses a 4-string guitar because he "thinks it's not necessary to get more than that"
I quite like this guy
Most original death metal style I've ever heard.
satriani. great player, great writer, great teacher. I can't think of any guitarist ever on his level across the board like that. maybe randy rhoades and maybe steve vai as well but still not to his level.
Mr.Mäenpää too has a lot of talent
hes actually pretty good check out youtube. wouldnt say 10/10 god tier, but his favorite style is simple blues so eh its not really about technicality>>702076606
that guy is honestly fucking hilarious i think hes a 10/10 comedian and a 8/10 guitarist
For the tone, style and composition. Skill wise theres many above, but his sound just stands out
What a hero. And a really nice dude
People don't realise how Clapton changed the whole scene back in the days of Cream. Not only him but Jack and Ginger are the best duo ever.
The amount who showed up or his music?
I find alot of his stuff relaxing, Venus Isle and up close (the albums) ah via musicom is good aswell but ej newfags only know cliffs of dover from it
