Soak in CLR for 1 hour, rinse with water, then soak in denatured alcohol for 1 hour. Rust should be gone then and no water in it from the alcohol, heat it up to 120 degrees, then drop it in oil (any car oil like 5w30 will do, or you can spend more for fancier ones) and soak it for 24 hours.
Dry off and hone as normal.
Rust should be gone, oil should have completely penetrated everything, and all you gotta do is sharpen it and reoil it regularly, and keep it clean after use.

All cheapo folders, one from Walmart and the other from the auto parts store. The Swiss has my name on it and came from the Grand Canyon years ago.
I have no good reason to carry three knives, other than they fit, they each serve a purpose, and I don't have a reason not to.
