Well, it definitely fires up better than it ever has and it idles lower but my truck still is idling faster than it should.
I think I might need to do something with the idle air control valve and mass air flow sensor. Hopefully just a clean, or else I'll need to take it to a shop and have them sort it out.

Yeah, it's fuel injected, mechanical. I haven't read any error codes because the process for reading OBD1 codes on a ford truck is a pain in the ass.

and I don't think a bad fuel injector could be responsible for too high idle rpm. a bad sensor or vacuum leak is much more likely imho.

It's weird because all of these problems (minus the brakes) all happened after BLFC. Guess the road trip might've hurt it a little. But it drives fine still. Just some minor issues. Not counting the brakes.

I don't think so, it's pretty early fuel injection. Well, the system is anyway. I have a feeling it's a sensor, so I'll probably go down the rabbit hole a little more. And clean out the bits and pieces of the MAF.

Sounds like Bosch K-Jetronic or similar with the continuous injection with injector pressure regulated against airflow. If so its a screw against a spring somewhere on the fuel metering unit.

Don't know what kind of injection mine has, all I know is that its mechanical and the truck is a Ford Ranger 4.0L OHV
1500 is where it's at, and it will usually hop between 1500 and sub 900 after the truck warms up.
When I first start the truck cold, it fires up fast, and then stalls almost immediately after letting go of the ignition. Or it will chug at 700ish and then just crap out or keep chugging if I don't kill it.
It's our gas. It's just so refined, your vehicle wasn't used to it.

But after I kill the motor (whether it stalls or chugs) and fire it up again, it jumps back to 1500 and stays there until it decides to go down to like 1000 and will bounce back up
