I'm 22. I'm a Firmware Engineer at Apple. I make 95K a year. I mostly work with low level stuff in iOS devices, making sure the firmware found in the SecureROM (similar to the UEFI in most laptops now) can communicate properly over a USB connection and properly utilize various parts of the SoC to decrypt bootloader images. Making sure memory allocation for the bootloaders is correct is also important. AMA assholes. Remember, I can't talk about certain things. What I will say is that the design team totally fucked the iPhone 7 and there won't be a headphone jack.

There won't be a headphone jack because Apple wants to charge more money for adapters while pushing beats wireless products. Other than drivers and stuff, I don't work with audio so all I can say about headphones is that audio can be transfered through the lightning port already. Expect lightning port adapters. I wouldn't be surprised if this kills Apple, since normies just love their $10 earbuds which break twice a weak. If Apple goes to shit I'll just go work at Google. I'm an XDA dev already so I have plenty of experience.

A lot of old ppl sell there house for a profit. But i mean if you account for the ammount of interest they paid in a 30 year mortgage it aint shit really in the net. They still usually pull out what they put in an 100k to 200k more. So i geuss that is why so many buy a 300k home in a place like florida and live off their pensions there.

Hi third time replying.

Id also like to add that for the most part a lot of the middle class in western europe would be totally better off with the american system.

Its truly only if you are poor minimum wage slave that you are better off living with the cost of social benefits in europe.

The rest of us are doing better in a.erica with not paying 50% in income taxes and what not.

America also has a lot of deductibles. A 50k per year earner gets 3k back in deductions.

A doctor who lets say owns a house valued at 1.4 million gets a 27k-45k tax refund because he pays a large property tax and large interest on the home loan. This number depends on if yhey have dependents like a family or children and investments and other shit too. There are a lot of things we can tax deduct.

Also the money we can make in stocks per year, the actual net profit, is taxed at 15%. So putting 100k in there can turn into 150k after 5 years. You pay 7.5k in tax and keep the rest.

plate looks like shit.

no way in hell you make $45k in the USA as a sous. Unless you work at a ritz carlton or extremely high level kitchen, and judging from that plate, you dont. I would believe $35k.

Im 31, hotel executive sous and i make $50k and it's one of the best rated hotels in the midwest (which really doesnt say shit)

Honestly, business travelers. I was in Taiwan as part of a trip. My company put me in a Sheraton and paid for *everything*. The room was about $150/night, not including parking, room service, and meals. In total, I was spending about $300/day.

When it's someone else's money, people don't care.

I suppose even the business has a way of wrighting it off in tax and the government is happy enough that all those hotel ppl actually have jobs and arent unemployed. Although the sinister backdoor deals of the executive officers is what gets me kinda.

it's actually a pretty sweet job, not tedious at all because I really only have to touch banquets once a month on average, if its a huge party or a chef is out of town.

I get to run the restaurant, change the menu seasonally, run specials whenever I want. We have a good food and labor cost so I can order whatever I want within reason. If its some real wagyu, foie or truffles then of course I have to have permission from the exec lol. The only real tedious thing I have to do is order sheets and training, but any kitchen management has to deal with that

It gets boring unless someone brings an interesting case to the lab
One interesting case was, a man had extremely brittle bones, a fall would break every bone that touched the floor.
Checked him through the mri, and saw his bones were pretty much hollow.
They ran tests on him and found that he had a rare bacteria that ate bone but first attacked the bone marrow.
Not much anyone can do so sent him off with some strong antibiotics and wish farewell.

Well, Ill start by saying that you should only go into it if you love it. It's not exactly what you would call lucrative. It's one of the most competitive fields out there, and the pool of work is ever-shrinking. There's some money to be made in live, and more in broadcast, but the closer you get to music, the less money is in it. Recording studios are dying, soon there will be just a few only catering to those who can pay large sums. That said, I love what I do, so I am happy with it. I'm currently doing live work, and building a guerilla recording rack to record musicians wherever I can, and that's where the music part of the industry is headed, home-studio and the like.

As for school vs work, I'd say both. You're going to want a degree, because anything that will give you an advantage in a job hunt is important to grab, and you will likely have to supplement your living with other jobs for a while, so having a college degree is going to help you there. Also, colleges are full of musicians, as well as your future colleagues, so it will be good for networking purposes. As far as what you'll learn, it depends on the school, but you can be sure you'll never learn as much in the classroom as you will actually doing it.

As for work, you should get a job in the industry while you're in school. You'll need the experience to help you get jobs, and you'll find you will learn more practical information that way. Audio engineering was originally an apprentice/master type thing. so learn from those more experienced than yourself. It will have a synergistic effect with your schooling. You'll find you retain more information from your classes if you are applying it at work while its fresh in your mind. You're also going to need the cash flow to cover all the gear you're going to buy.

Its a wonderful profession, but you have to dedicate yourself to it to get anywhere in it. It's not easy, and the work isn't abundant, but if you love it, go for it.

By definition a 'Chef' is the head of a kitchen with responsibilities like ordering food, setting menu, scheduling other cooks and whatnot.

If these Wendy's memers were Shift Leads or Managers they could be Chefs. They don't set menus since that shit's all done by corporate above them, but it's pretty close.
