He and I have talked about this.

This is a paraphrase, we were both fucked up and just having a heart to heart while jamming on some of his instruments. He has made it clear to me many times that my family will get a sizeable severance if I ever die on the job.
In short, he is mid 50s, and has developed a really big alcohol problem and I think the has liver issues, even though for his age he is strong as fuck and pretty fit, I don't know if he has a ton of time left. I honestly believe he doesn't want me to take a bullet for him because he's terminal in some way. I don't know anything definitively about his medical condition(s), but me and the other guys can tell he's not well like he was 8-9 years ago.
