I work with pesticide development, working for the state, there's retroviral drugs out now that almost are on target for killing HIV, it's very close now actually. But yeah there's tons of shady stuff when it comes to drugs that get shut down but not for HIV. There's tons of anxiolytics that work better then benzos and aren't nearly as addictive but the people who discovered the compounds basically got bought out by companies. It's a pretty fun job if you have the right mind for it. You need to be able to make concise decisions while advising your customer what is best for them. There's a lot of talking involved, so you need to have semi-decent social skills.
I imagine it's similar to business management, but rather than focus on a business and its people, the analyst focuses on the project and the details of the tasks which comprise the project.
Pays well too. Once I graduate from uni I'll be on $80,000, but most experienced analysts earn $120,000 a year.
