Cool for the first 2~5 hours.

Putting shitposting aside, it's a pretty 'meh' game. It's shallow and gets boring after a while with the copy paste enviroments

It's pretty fun. Definitely not $60 of fun but I really enjoy the infinitely changing scenery. It's basically Chillin' in Space Simulator 2016 and that's alright with me
>>
>>699325844
Think it's possible to make it run on shit-tier Intel onboard graphics?
>>
This is what happens when dipshit fans hype something up.
I mean yeah it's fun, though very repetitive, but it's not the glorious gift to gaming a lot of people expected it to be.
I don't get people. Just waot for the fucking game to release before making judgements.
I don't pay attention to hype personally, and try to avoid it at every turn.
People did it with fallout 4.
"Holy fuck tou can build anywhere and do this and do that and it's got this that and the other and oh my god"
Game releases, most of the shit they assumed would be in the game wasn't, then everyone's all "hurr games shit".

It's ok, but I've only played it for 1.9 hours and I'm still on the first planet. I enjoy it and had fun for those 1.9 hours, but a lot of people say it gets repetitive.

It's not worth the $60 in my opinion, so I would advise to either pirate it or get it when it's on sale.

I'm amazed that so many people bought into the hype. It sold a lot of copies, like 1/3 refunded but still it's a big seller.

Say what you want about that guy but he is a genius at marketing. He was vague so people could imagine the game to be what they wanted.

In reality it's a shallow survival game that will get old in a day.

the game looks nice and handles well but many of the necessary game mechanics (refilling life support, ship launch thrusters, recharging different multi-tool functions) get very very grindy and repetitive
in a normal game with a designed map this trudge might be worth it but the game starts to feel unrewarding because once you've seen a few things you've seen most of what the game has to offer
pirate it if you can or wait for a price drop

The graphics - when it comes to general design, color palette, etc. - is beautiful. When you look at textures - it's shit.

It's got great music that can really mesmerize.

It's got tons of things to do if you can create your own objectives.

I'd say - if you grew up reading and watching sci-fi stuff, and you want to chill&explore in this setting - the game will not dissapoint you.

If you're looking for action and you rather have the game give you fun instead of looking for fun while playing the game - don't even bother.

not going for the CoD thing cause I don't give a fuck

Just wanted to say that in NMS, apart from minining and walking, you can:
1/ trade
2/ look for bounty hunter opportunities
3/ look for new crafting recipies (and craft new stuff)
4/ look for little monoliths that teach you alien languages
5/ seek for artifacts/monoliths to get bonuses and to know the history of alien races
6/ catalog animals and plants
7/ fight sentinels
8/ follow story path

And many more things I am yet to discover.
>>
>>699332690

Pro tip: to scan birds, shoot them so they fall out of the sky, then scan their corpse. Much easier than chasing them.

Oh, and it could also be a fish. Fish and bords are a bitch to find.

Three days in, suit inventory at 26, ship inventory at 30, ship looks boss as fuck (got a red model that kinda seems similar to the attack fighters in Battlestar Galactica)

I heard alot of hype and negging about this game. Decided to try it for myself.

Overall I find it very relaxing. So long as you're fine with a bit of a grind and enjoy exploring and battling against the environments of the planets and sentinels at every turn, it can be pretty cool.

I find that people who expected alot more from this game will be disappointed. It has huge potential to be incredibly cool over time so long as they add features and such (construction of ships and buildings/outposts, multiplayer elements, etc)

I give it a solid 7.5 out of 10. Would be a higher rating but there is a lack of things to do beyond the basic repetitive exploration and crafting and such... And there are still a few bugs to be worked out (crashes alot on PS4)

Iron gets useful later on when you start actively hunting for and repairing crashed ships. You have to create a bunch of components that require it to repair landing stuff and engines.

Use bypass chips to unlock the scanners you find sometimes near settlements and points of interest. Find a transmission tower. It will point you towards a downed ship if you answer a math thing. Repair and fly off.

Found my current ship like that. 30 inventory. Love it.

I find it the coolest feature. Was buying ships for awhile but they get stupid pricey after around 20 inventory.

Now instead of trying to grind out units I just stock up on the resources necessary to get a downed ship repaired and spaceworthy.

I got bad news for you son. You will encounter ships that are 50-70mil. It gets crazy.

To find them on planets. Go to one of those orange beacons, craft a bypass chip, and use it to search for transmissions. Keep using that same beacon until you find a distress beacon or transmission tower.

Not worth it. It can be a great game, but I'd rather buy 6 great indie games for $60 bucks rather than one. I already have Subnautica too so I have my fix of exploration.

You.

Yes, you. The one screaming, "There's no multiplayer!" and "Sean Murray lied to us!" and other slurs I dare not mention.

Tread lightly.

You are one. We are hundreds, thousands. Millions. You aren't just IN the minority; you ARE the minority.

I don't feel awkward or anxious playing No Man's Sky around others, and your words don't affect me. Many others, however, are coming out of their shells for the first time in their lives. This is the first time many are enjoying the beautiful world that has been procedurally generated for us - and it IS beautiful. Incredibly so. DON'T ruin this for them. We No Man's Sky fans may have our differences, but we will not hesitate to come to the aid of our fellow explorers, especially against someone who so virulently slurs that which has brought us all together.

Don't take this the wrong way. I don't hate you. I don't fear you.

I pity you.

I'm sorry that you feel this way towards us. I'm sorry that No Man's Sky is such a bane to your existence. And I'm sorry that you are missing out on such a wonderful experience. Mostly, though, I'm sorry that you feel the need to go around and publicly chastise and berate others. I'm sorry that, to ensure your own validity, you need to make others feel invalid. I'm sorry that your self-worth is so infinitesimally miniscule that you have to make others feel less-than-human, at least in your own denatured mind, just to feel whole. I am truly sorry that day-in and day-out you have to put up with your worthless, meaningless, Shakespearean tragedy of a life.

I ask you politely to cease your unnecessary cries for attention, and instead invite you to join our ranks. Uninstall Call of Duty, start up No Man's Sky, and breathe in the splendour and the amazement of your first planet, and then, maybe, just maybe, you'll see what you've been so hopelessly searching for this whole time.

To anyone interested, when I first started the game it ran like absolute dog shit.
Now, this isn't the game's fault. I have a 4k monitor and EVERYTHING runs like dog shit if it auto starts in full screen mode.
I changed it to bordered windowed mode and it runs almost perfectly, very very few slowdowns (never choppy), with my settings all on high. As a bonus, I don't have any problems with alt+tabbing because it doesn't minimize the game.
>>

Also, I'm playing with a 360 controller because the keyboard controls suck dick.
>>
>>699343618
>this isn't the game's fault
yes it is, there are people with gtx 1080s and latest gen i7 that get 10 FPS.
>>
>>699343618
for some reason on my initial run it ran like shit too(like worse than 30fps), but I turned off vsync and upped the max FPS, changed all my settings to max, restarted the game and it runs fine.

The only problem I've had is randomly after like hours of play it will start stuttering and drop to a slideshow. (almost like it has a memory leak, but it doesn't).

gtx 970 and i5-6600k

i'm not talking about 4k. any resolution, fucking beast machines get shit FPS anyway, while low-mid end computers get twice as high FPS.

Then again these same sites posted articles about Fallout 4 having the "worst launch in history" and "broken pc port" when most people I knew ran it fine. Aka, the articles are click-bait to get idiots like you that have never played the game for yourself to say stupid a hit about things they have no experience in and know nothing about.

Cheers, dumbass.

>but but muh PC specs
you're the one talking about your own PC specs you retarded fuck.

when people with a fucking gtx 1080 get 10 fps in NMS and people with low-end PC get better FPS it's a fucking fact the game has no optimization whatsoever.

go find anything similar on the star citizen forums and i'll take it back, good luck.

basically just roll around discovering planets. that's it nothing more nothing less, which is completely alright. I've been enjoying it a lot, by far my favorite mechanic is the whole language thing

Its just like real life, you travel throughout the universe all by yourself and whenever you meet an intelligent life form you cant communicate with them except in bits and pieces and eventually just wander off into the vastness of space.

pretty sure people are getting low fps because the game settings cap it initially at 30 fps. After i bumped it to max setting, it runs just fine.

Not nearly as bad as watchdogs
>>
>>699353742
It is, at least i can run watchdogs on medium 60fps
i am getting 15 25 fps on low and max fps.. so what the fuck are you talking about.. i'd say it's like Arkham Knight

>thousands of steam reviews vs millions of copies sold

Lmfao. Like I said, you keep digging your own grave. Fucking dumbass.
>>
>>699324720
Yeah. There's a near endless world but there's not $60 worth of content. It's all was rinse and repeat on infinite planets. Gets old in a few days.
>>
>>699353742
read the post again. 10 FPS with a GTX 1080 is nowhere near the max of 30.
