All service industry jobs operate on two principles:

i have been there, but in the end its probably worth it. i can remember being 19, in college, all my friends already worked, or dropped out, lived by themselves, drove cars etc, you will catch up w them after you start work in just a couple of years, hopefully you will be earning. more then they do as well!

Learn to embrace solitude.
At one point in my life I was forced to be alone for a long period of time. No real friends, no family. It was difficult because I never liked being alone. Eventually I got used to it. Not just used to it, actually, I learned to really enjoy it. I used it to better myself in many ways without distraction.
Now if I ever feel alone, I take advantage of it and dive into the solitude headfirst. It can be pretty refreshing, and it isn't painful anymore so I don't sit around and do nothing waiting for people to come around again.

Simplicity, quiet. Some self-sufficiency, but not crazy off-the-grid. A couple acres. I don't want to hear lawn mowers, car doors slamming, people ripping up and down the road. I can go to civilization, but I don't want it coming to me. I don't mind driving a half-hour to get stuff. My motivation is already achieved, I have quality people - my children - that I can enjoy and take some pride in, but I don't expect to see them every day. They're working on their own achievements. In fact, its probably better if I have a secure, remote location if they ever need a year off. I have motivations, but motivations are not needs. Driving around the country and surviving is a pretty good motivation.
I'm 25, was going to college for computer tech, had a decent job. One day, about 2 years ago, my sister decided that a pedophile that just got out of prison was more important then her kid, and wanted to get rid of him. His dad was no where to be found, I said I'll be damned if he goes to a foster home, or ends up in state care, so years I take him in. Had to drop out of college, and get a second job to raise him, but things were good, a bit tight, but good. Then last year, my mom was in a car accident that nearly took her life, so I moved in to help her out, because most of my family didn't give a fuck, they just acted like they did. I fucked off my student loans, so when things are settled, I probably won't be able to go back to college. Now, when I'm not dealing with a hellraiser of a kid, or helping my mom, or at work, I write a shitty script for a shitty youtube series, and imagine that I'll somehow make it big, just to fill the empty void of failure in my life. Alcohol helps too.

I'm not good at giving advice. You are getting a lot of income, but just from my point of view it doesn't compensate you enough for your loss of life time. Depends what you plan with your gf in terms of family you will have to step back.
From my own experience, it is not that easy to spot the signals that you work too much. Despite that, I found work very rewarding.

...The longer you will work the less fun will this bring to you. Despite that, working full time for as senior your time will be limited I can guarantee you. It does make fun to buy the car of your dreams, only that you lack the time to drive it. Despite that the rest of the other upper guys also drive nice cars which somehow levels the whole experience.

So I should be a bit more clear. In terms of vacation, I mean the occasional road trip to a different part of the state (TX). Like recently we took 2 days and a night in Austin. Didn't splurge, just a couple bars and restaurants and souvineers, actually planning to go back because it's fucking awesome up there.
I'm not talking Hawaiian vacations here. But then again, I guess it's perspective and what makes you happy. I'm not dying to take long vacations in far away lands. I'm a bit of a home body and I like to make the best of the area I'm in, it's cost effective and you often times soak in what a place really has to offer.

I grew up with a single mom that, at most, made 15k/yr. So for me, being married, 50k+(with wife's income), living in what I guess is a suburb, and being relatively stable is all I want.
My finances are conservative. I have an automatic draft that puts 250 from each paycheck (every 2 weeks) into savings. This has always worked well for me, so I always do it. I NEVER impulse buy, and always go for what's cheap while still being effective for its purpose. I probably spend 80% of my time researching a commodity or luxury product before I buy it, and often times come to the realistic conclusion that what I wanted was a childish impulse.
More so, I think like this: if I'm putting money into it, am I getting anything substantial out of it? And then proceed to consider that idea. Anyways...sorry for rambling.

Yes I noticed. Hope you will find the time to build actually something. After I started to work full, traveling abroad for the company, the time to reach the office and extra hours I was happy just to be at home doing nothing. Not everbody is the same (low energy, eh?), wish you will find the energy to carry on. The car looks great by the way.
