It wasn't that bad, it still had problems, but it was no Batman vs Superman. Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Viola Davies, Jay Hernandez knocked it out of the park. Joker was meh. I blame the WB execs for being pussies and the marketing company they hired to edit the movie. Holy shit, there are tons of "explosion" or "dumb" movies that aren't as bad as this. Die Hard is fucking awesome. This movie had plot holes, boring fight scenes( fight evil grey bad guys in the street, the same fight scene again in an office 3 minutes later.), characters yelling exposition at each other because the producers thought you were to stupid to remember something that happened just moments ago in the movie. The editing of jokes didnt give enough time between them. Sometimes it felt like they just let margot robbie just go off for a bit and it wasnt great. I enjoyed the movie, but there were some things that didn't make sense e.g. joker surviving explosion and Harley getting the cellphone. They could have also focused more on other characters other than Harley and Will Smith. They could have also used other music other than the music you hear on the radio all the time. In the beginning of the movie as well they made the death of the rope guy really obvious, they didn't even give him a proper intro, and when he was killed they expected it to be dramatic but it was underwhelming.
They shouldn't even had rope guy there, they could have done something good and replaced him with kite man, had a proper intro for him like the other characters and put him on posters and make them think he was an actual main character, then kill him off in the beginning when he tries to escape.
The only parts I didn't like were at the end.
Enchantress has some dumb dance moves she does when she's talking, and the slow-mo shot of Deadshot shooting the bomb goes on way too long.
Katana was useless too. She was only there so a sword could be present at the end.

I'm convinced that no one in Holywood knows the first godamn thing about final boss fights, the only way to avoid a bad final boss fight is to not have a final boss in your movie. I think the best final boss fight I've seen in years was just Hulk mopping the floor with Loki in 5 seconds and then going "puny god" and walking away. That was actually a good scene and it wasn't used as the climax of the movie.

The Joker puts in however much effort he has to in order to keep her on his side. So he arguably cares about her more than he cares about himself.
The Joker is a very good example of a character where you can have a lot of good interpretations and none of them look anything like each other. Heath Ledger's Joker didn't look anything like Jack NIckelson's Joker but they were both Really good. And then the animated series/movies Joker has his own thing going on that deserves to be mentioned alongside those two. Plus you've got the comic book version (Moore's joker in particular) which kind of resembles the animated Joker.
What I'm getting at is that I think it's okay to write a Joker who cares about his bitch and wants to save her, it's not a "family friendly" thing, it's because this Joker was written for a story that emphasized Harley.
