Dude, I'm not going to argue "the best offroad vehicle" with you. Every vehicle has their niche. Trackers are awesome for light to medium trails at medium-high speeds. But independent suspension is utterly worthless in the rocks, and that's when you need a bigger vehicle. I think that a Jeep is the perfect compromise between the stability of a full size truck and the agility of a Tracker/Samurai, in a very capable platform.

I can understand that. Sounds like you're an overlander. I'm a rock crawler. Personally, I find what you're describing a tad dull. If you really wanted to get from point A to point B with the fewest obstacles, we have things called highways. If I'm going to sit in my un-air conditioned Jeep for hours and hours, I'd rather be actively involved in having to pick lines and risk possible rollovers and fight my engine's tendency to stall and what have you than just be sitting chugging along a relatively easy trail. At the same time, I can see how risking your vehicle for fun might not be appealing to you. Rock crawling is certainly the more expensive form, since basically nobody snaps axles over landing as far as I know. But yeah, I do drive hours to get to a park to play. It's fun.

How is the reliability of it
Not my actual Audi but it looks similar. I have only had it for 4 months now but I am loving it, even though there is hardly any room for more than a few bags of groceries

The reliability pre 2006 is quite bad for electronics. Post 2007 they are normally a lot more reliable. I have done 20000 miles in it (bought it with 32000 on the clock) and had nothing to do besides changing the brake discs, oil change. The nav is a bit outdated, but don't really care. It is very quiet if you drive it slowly but you got that punch when you want to have some fun.
