My mom had a wooden walking stick she'd pull out when my siblings and I misbehaved. She was ruthless. I got beaten up so bad sometimes I couldn't go to school. I remember this one time I was being beaten for having run away from home, and things got so rough I hid under the bed. She pulled me out by the leg and stomped on my head.
