Audio quality isn't that noticeable by like 98% of the planet and you'd need to drop at least 100-150 ( usually more) minimum on a pair of headphones and have training, programs etc. As well as access to super high quality audio as well to even notice the difference.
Most people aren't cutting tracks in their basement and even if they did no-one would bother to listen to them so audio cards are mostly unnecessary to everyone except music producers.
If you're shooting people in COD using a USB headset with integrated mic then it's a grossly unnecessary component.
