It's all about the atmosphere for me. When I first came here, I found the original (Alice1) threads and I loved the atmosphere they had. I stuck around through (Alice2)'s era for the same reason, but I eventually took a break from the internet and when I returned, Alice was on an indefinite hiatus of some kind.
So I decided to try and recreate that atmosphere myself, because I feel like /b/ needs it. As well, I was sad and lonely, and I started out by asking Anonymous to keep me company while I was going through hard times. Well, eventually I got better, and I decided to build a shrine here and keep it going!

What you can do is cultivate your garden-- that is, the personal world that you experience. The people you associate with, the things you do, and the places you go. Focus on making those better and cutting out some of the thorns here and there, until you have something beautiful that you can enjoy and share with the ones you care about.

But I can guess it's one of a few things. First, there's always been an anti-name, anti-avatar, anti-anything-identifying sentiment here. People say that it's the point of this place to remain Anonymous, so maybe she was abiding by that.
It could have been to avoid being misconstrued as a circlejerk (that is, a closed off avatar thread with no real purpose other than a chatroom of people who all know each other.)
Or it could be because maintaining friendships with a bunch of regulars can be taxing and distract from the attention Anonymous gets.
OR it could be because most of the people with names and faces were just there to troll and insult her. Personally, I think that wouldn't be the case if she didn't ignore them, but who knows.

I was... one of the trolls. I didn't like her threads when I first saw them, I only perceived them as being RP threads centered around one person, and not very good RP at that.
I was one of the people whose posts she replied to in spite of that. She would argue with me, and try to make me see things her way. She never liked or trusted me much, but over time I started to realize that coming there and talking to her was really fun. I knew that I would miss her threads if they were ever gone, so I subtly switched sides, and that's when I started posting as Reimu.
At that point, she started ignoring me since I wasn't provoking her responses anymore, but I managed to turn one of her other enemies into a friend too, and I silently watched her enemies hoping for more opportunities to help her behind the scenes.
In the end she was forced out by something I couldn't have prevented, and just like I thought, I missed her dearly.
