Well, the problem started when I was 18 (over a decade ago), and if I got a paycheck I would have to pay for meds which were nearly 1,000 bucks a month. Now that generic brands exist it is down to about 250 a month, which is still a lot. I want to get certs as a way to set up a framework for basic stuff I need to learn. Since I've been mostly self taught I'm good at some stuff but also notice some places where I don't know basics since I've never had to deal with it before. I feel like certs, if you learn the material, will at least give you basic knowledge you can build on. It's more for myself than anyone else.
