Like I said guns are the great equalizer. They take minimal skill to deploy properly. A wiffle bat however? Do you know how hard it is to hit a moving target that can dodge out of the way? Not to mention that people who have any understanding of tool making know how to make weapons. If somehow every lawful citizen did not have access to firearms, the criminals would just make their own, or more likely buy their own from people who made them themselves. I know how to create firearms. I have the tools, I know how to make the tools should they be confiscated. I'm not stressed. I just use my intelligence. There is always the possibility for horrible things to happen to and around you. Why would you want to rely on a service that isn't in your immediate location to protect you, when protection relies on seconds, not minutes.
