ITT: God-tier guitar finishes
Jazz or die
>>691558640
Sunburst gets boring after a while tho
My latest one.
>>691559638
Is that special made, or does PRS do those finishes to?
>>691560203
Think it's a one off custom, probably made for Al Di Miola
>>691560203
PRS has been doing the Prism finish for a few years now.
Palm Bay (custom luthier in UK) was doing them a few decades ago, I have one, it's gorgeous.
>>691559546
Hey that's pretty good
My level; get on it.
>>691560835
How much was it? I always wan't a PRS, but 2000 is my level.
An ugly, cheap guitar with beautiful 80's style humbuckers.
It's tough to explain why you'd play a guitar like this.
Peavey Razer- 1983.
My new guitar. Not a good finish, but damn it's still a sexy machine
>>691561736
>mein neger
>>691561984
Here's a better picture
>>691561560
It was about that much, but that was sort of a personal deal Andrew gave me - it was one of the show guitars he'd made for his booth at NAMM that year. After seeing it at the show one day but having to fly out of Anaheim that night I flew back tp Anaheim the next day to buy it from him at the end of the show. Very good guy, and his workmanship on the guitar is beautiful.
>>691562243
Looks good to me, fam. How does she sound?
Pictures don't do it justice. It looks like it was cut from a goddamn gemstone. PRS is a bunch of black magic wizards put on Earth to make guitars.
>>691562509
Good question. Still have to do a lot of work to it before it's playable. From what I understand, the Pickups are shitty soviet pieces of shit so probably not that good. Also has built in distortion but it somehow draws power not from a battery, but from the 5pin jack.
Pic related
>>691562688
Beautiful; and double switches to boot.
>>691562334
Found a photo online with a finish that's similar, though mine's a burl and the fade is nicer (since it was done by Andrew in his garage).
>>691562901
Make/Model? I love oddballs.
Jol Dantzig (founder of Hamer) knows how to do some pretty things with wood, too.
>>691562920
Battery pickups are OK, they're just a pain. I have an ESP from '89 that takes a 9 Volt but sounds as rich as dark chocolate.
>>691563371
Its not the pickups that use the battery, it the onboard distortion (I think)
>>691563345
>>691563371
Interesting. Never had an axe like that.
Beautiful, all the same.
David Thomas McNaught also make gorgeous guitars.
those 80's ibanez gems are so satisfying.
>>691563853
Can't go wrong with...
>>691564097
>>691563853
>>691564097
>>691564094
Yes please
>>691564733
In-Body pickups? Also, holy unchecked dubs in this thread...
>>691561900
Dont like the acctual guitar but that finish is mad rad
>>691564733
Where's the pickups? Or piezo bridge?
Hi
>>691564889
>>691557624
Love this trashed look. Long live Iommi
Just bought her last week the guy Said it's vintage 1950's it's got a way better sound then new guitars and looks a lot better then most of the train wrecks in this thread
>>691564939
Paul's inlay work was always so astounding - even from the very first Dragon.
Matte black with no inlays or gtfo
>>691565575
g8 b8 m8
>>691565575
Nice stock image there, friend.
The very first sunburst Les Paul ever made.
If you need electricity to play guitar then you're probably shit at it
Acoustic master race, we don't need pedals and effects to sound good
>>691565858
Close; but they did make an Acoustic with the Sunburst finish in '56 and have been ever since.
Gary Holt's Signature series in Liquid Metal Lava.
Or as Gary calls it, "Coagulated Blood".
>>691563088
i think its a kiesal of some sort
>>691566292
You know quite well that anyone who plays guitar and posts in a thread like this has an acoustic as well, yes?
>>691566768
It hurts to look at
Custom
>>691564094
I have a 517 from the 80's but I had to paint it myself =/. My finish is shit but the one before was unacceptable. Original finish was miles better but not really in fashion.
My favorite has been either Guthrie's Charvel or Vai's BFP
>>691567075
>>691566292
You dumbass most people that play electric also play acoustic. Are you gonna post your uncles banjo next or maybe your the type of douche with a ukulele, do you walk around high school playing over the Rainbow or something by Jason mraz
>>691565858
No, that particular guitar really is the very first sunburst LP. 1958, done as sort of a one-off, top is a three-piece because it was likely going to end up as a Gold Top but they decided to try sunburst on it.
Worked out pretty well for them, I'd say.
(I also like the 5858 for that particular post.)
bump
bumperino
Another one from Gary Holt.
This one is painted with Gary's own blood.
here my latest
>>691565577
I love those pearlescent touches, really looks great
>>691567203
Goddamn that is sharp
>>691564964
>>691565275
Looks to me to be a painted pickup and ring.
>>691567729
>>691567838
I like that starry look in there, has an elegance to it
>>691568121
thanks
Wow, some of the ugliest fucking guitars I've literally ever seen in here.
>>691568213
I also like the rounded look on the body, those smooth contours fit with the sleekness of it, very classy
>>691561471
fuck yes
Wow, all these metal guitars. Why do all social rejects and children love 'metal' and EDM?
>>691566768
>>691568301
There's definitely something to be said for a polished wood finish, it looks so crisp
>>691568381
its a very sleek guitar, like a contoured schecter with an ibanez wizard style neck, its a DBZ Barchetta 7 in Galaxy purple
>>691568570
More your style.
>>691561922
That looks amazing.
Dis
>>691568758
Awesome stuff, I've become an Ibanez guy and I do like the wizard necks
>>691568570
Here, hush up and look at this one
>>691568819
The abortion of guitars
Ormsby Australia. Aged Copper top
>>691569242
They look amazing, sadly don't sound that great.
One-piece top.
>>691569422
Depends on what is being played and who's playing it
>>691568570
2muchmehtul4u
>>691565446
>>691568880
>>691569417
Never got that close a look at Iommi's guitar like that, and I didn't realize I liked that worn and distressed look. The last two are like some shit you'd find outside a Vault, in a cool way.
>>691569662
Which could be said about literally anything that makes noise.
>>691569536
Gorgeous
all these people posting chink/mexican shit when slav master race exists
The lighting in this pic is rather dark, but this is as close as I can come right now to an ESP Horizon I have sitting over there (*gestures towards pile of guitars*). Under stage lights the finish is somewhere between spectacular and sublime.
the work done by skervesen is just incredible
>>691569850
Okay.
>>691570155
Cool; do they make one that doesn't weigh as much or sound like a Squirer?
>>691570583
hnnnnnnggggg
>>691570549
Those are some really striking colors, looks like velvet that slumped to the floor.
>>691570583
That cracked-open-geode-rock-whatever look is damn groovy, and I like that bridge with that body.
>>691563088
It's a .strandberg*
Funky looking instruments. I've heard the body style makes them quite comfortable although the their crazy-ass neck design is somewhat polarizing.
Never played one personally, though, but I'd love to if I came across one.
I want one; apparently they sound like garbage.
>>691571387
They're also hard as hell to hold and play.
There's a reason beyond weird looks the Moderne never caught on like the V and Explorer.
My grandpa has a les paul store sign that says les paul instruments will not be sold to niggers, the sign was never put up and still brand new in the box I would take a picture but he's like 900 miles away
>>691557624
love the quilted maple, but hate the gloss
>>691559638
gay/10
>>691571663
Yeah, that playability is a major factor. I played a V i really, really liked but I passed on it because I don't like the way it felt when I was sitting down.
My T5
>>691559638
Is that the pulse special
>>691571699
Dubs demand your grandfather send you a pic.
>>691561922
uh, looks like it has some pretty easy access to the highest frets... but other than that I can't see any reason why anybody would get that shape...
>>691557624
Opaque red on epoxy
>>691571663
>>691571953
I still want one. Love the oddballs.
But yeah, you couldn't even play this thing unstrapped sitting on a stool.
>>691572201
I'll try and have my aunt take a picture of it since she stays with him,
>>691572238
Maybe if you were auditioning for Cheap Trick.
>>691563853
I would buy that if it was a bass
>>691571953
The only way to play a V sitting down is to have one's leg between the bouts.
Interestingly, the original standing playing style was similar, right arm between the bouts.
>>691572238
The shape is horrible. But the sound for a stock 80's pile is a-ok.
>>691568589
kek
Im not an SG person but i'd definitely get this dude to do this to mine if i had one.
>>691572728
Another V playing position variant - right arm along the upper bout.
No SG?
>>691569850
Yeah, this is true. So instead of spending a lot of money on a high end guitar, I just got a piece of board, hammered two nails into it and stretched a rubber band between them.
Here is the LP he did. Not as great but still fine work.
>>691561922
>tough to explain
Not at all.
Some of them sound really really bad. Which is a good thing.
I still love using the ore that is the jolana galaxis bass. Utter shit in regards to everything, but i really enjoy the sound of it. The mids are very pronounced and dirty. I love it.
>>691572976
I like how it looks like it was just carved from an old door. Even the weathering on the pickups is solid.
>>691573168
Did you not see >>691569698 ?
Here's another one for you.
>>691572728
I play my V just resting on my lap all the time.
Countless V's come with rubber pads on the bottom wing to help with this as well, but it's not required.
Anyone who says you can only play a V between the legs has either never tried it, or grossly over exaggerated it because they already made up their mind you can't before hand.
>>691573572
Uriah Heep cover band, here I come.
>>691569536
I've always wanted a rosewood natural.
>>691573755
Uriah Heep is bad ass... David Byron is one of the most underrated singers in rock
>>691574353
Hell yes, I meant that in a non-ironic way. Easy Livin' and Sunrise forever.
>>691570948
Very nice.
So clean
>>691576704
That IS nice, and the inlays are a slick compliment.
this is mine, I really like the colours
>>691578707
Yes, tobacco sunburst is such a classic.
>>691557624
guitar was 200$
looks aight, blue burst is pretty neat.
ITT: anything made by Suhr
>>691581673
OK, it's been fun sharing beautiful guitars with you all. Have a nice night.
>>691559638
PRS for life
The ultimate guitar.
No Shadows Optics
Based goldtop
Not mine, but mine is the exact same model
