Not a favorite memory, but this is one of the last bosses that my guild killed. Best guild I ever had, no one really played much after this.
The first time I went from Mulgore to The Barrens, opening up my map and realising just how huge this game is.

Got a blue drake out of a chest. Had a really low drop rate back then. Was pretty sweet.
Leveling in Thousand Needles during Vanilla. I stayed up until 5am and watched the sun rise at the shimmering flats.
Not sure why this memory sticks out so much, but every time I think of it I remember how comfy it was and it makes me wistful.
Really that whole game was so immersive back then. I have a lot of good memories of not even doing anything special, but having a lot of fun while I was doing it.
I remember the excitement wow used to bring me. I'd rush home from school to play. A bunch of people from my school all played on the same server and we would raid together during TBC.
Really miss that game.

The first time I ran BFD I got 2 blue daggers, I thought it was the coolest thing ever. I was a DPS warrior and still rocked em even though one was caster dagger.
Also, the first epic I got was the Warden Staff and I rember ranking with it because it had defense on it lol.

Yea, old wow was great. I continue to play each expansion for a month or two before unsubscibing again. Just can't get into endgame anymore.
Between work and college I can't dedicate the time to make progress. Also none of the guilds I join seem to have that same level of camaraderie and passion as my old guilds.

I know I didn't experience what you original vanilla wow players did, and I honestly couldn't tell you how the game is different now from what it used to be, but for a short amount of time I felt the magic. I got lost in the world and I'll always have vivid memories of completing legendary quests while at work, listening to podcasts. Feeling excited over new mounts. Helping lower level players grind dungeons because I was drunk and bored that night, etc. I was new to the game but I'll never forget my time there.

Recently I was playing dalaran wow, a free WotLK version, but it was just me and one other friend so we ended up getting bored pretty quick without our old crew.

The argument "Wow used to be better" is not completely true, even if they release a legacy server (which they might becasue of nostalrius), the main reason why it used to be better is because you did everything together with your friends

One of my favorite memories is when we had two full raid groups and raided the 4 main alliance cities to earn the for the horde achievement. It was amazing watching so many people fight, it took us like 4 hours and in the end we won. Friends were all jealous lol

This is true, and for a lot of people it was when they were younger and more care-free. I know a lot of that is what affects how I perceive the game now. Although, I will say it doesn't help that the community is becoming gradually more toxic and overall less accepting of working together. It's being geared to be more single player.

I played on the v2.2.0 to the end of v2.4.3 and I have so much great moment that I don't really have a favorite moment. I liked when on 2.4.x I found a bug where I buy one arrow for 1silver and sell it to a other marchand for 20gold, I used it for one week before the GM fix it and I had at the end 3 million gold. I remember that sometime in Orgrimmar when I saw new player who asked money, I gave 20k gold for free. (it was on a private server similar to the official)
I stopped WoW at the very beginning of the 3.0.0. And now, it's the third day that I restart it but on the official server of Battle.net just to play with my girlfriend who is very fan of this game. But for the moment, I don't have paid a subscription. I have 2 characters lvl20 (the max that I can) and one lvl15, I think I gonna take subscription for 1 month at the end of this month.

Yea in vanilla if you wanted a group, you had better start whispering people and talking to each other. From Wotlk forward it was only group finder and aoe pulls (which would immediately kill you in vanilla)

True, but WoW used to almost force you to meet new people on your server.
When it comes to leveling you can easily quest solo now and run dungeons without anyone saying a word to eachother.
Old wow encouraged you to group with people who were doing the same quests and there were also a lot of group quests. To run a dungeon you had to find others yourself and they often required at least a little communication to make sure everyone was on the same page.
Because servers weren't connected you began to recognize players and would start talking to them. Even if none of your irl friends were on there were in game friends. I still talk to some of my old WoW buddies.
Just renewed my subscription, trying so hard to get my friends to play with me but they all moved on so I kind of regret it
Was leading a Naxx25 pug, told everyone id drink a beer for every boss we kill. And so i did and i was kinda wasted at Kel'thuzad, which was also the only boss i wasn't #1 at dps...

yeah idd, it's a bit of both, like even when you weren't playing with friends doing a dungeon and forming a group was such an undertaking sometimes that it kinda forced you to interact way more and cooperate better and if something didn't work out people where much more inclined to explain stuff and help each other out because going to a city to find a new player to complete your party again took allot of time. That being said the game is definitely more friendly for people with things to do besides gaming all day

I used to be raid leader in a guild, the guild leader was very beta and his wife would be constantly sat out cuz she generally just sucked at healing. Eventually she started getting suggestive if i allowed her more time in raid, so I let her do shit in-game, on cam and record all of it. eventually I show the guild leader and threaten to reveal it all to the guild, which has their family and kids in it lol. so they let me continue, soo afterwards I even have him doing shit just for lels.

The server is about a month old and is on patch 1.6 (Battlegrounds). Best latency I've ever seen on a private server. I get 150 on the US west coast. My buddy on the east cost gets 65 and the server is in Europe!

one day me and my friends swam to the bottom of the ocean and would randomly request new players to join our party, then we would warlock summon them to us and watch them try to swim out but drown. it was entertaining for sure. another time we made a video called "fastest way out of thunderbluff" where we would get people to sit on our mounts and just jump off the cliff. it seems stupid looking back now but at the time it was so much fun.

World PvP before achievements or insta ports were common was always a blast. Riding in on a gryphon to SS to reinforce your buddies before the fight ended was agonizing.
Other than that, I had a 49 twink. Dwarf huntard that I'd rock BGs with. There was a 49 twink Tauren enhance sham that would always find his way into the same BG. So of course we singled each other out to the exclusion of all else. If you're reading this, thanks for the good fights man. Had a blast.

I am the reason that the AH has so many pages. Used to be 6. I started staging strange dust in there for 10 times the market value 1 at a time and plugging up the ah.
We found gear you could craft and blow up and sell the mats for more than the gear and we all got rich.
One of my best friends is a professional athelete now. And he is probably the only problem that even knows what a thunderfury is let alone had one.

When i quit because i realized open world pvm is a waste of time and the real game happens in instanced dungeons.
I didn't really PvE much...just did incidentally when my brother's guild was short on healers for their raids. I think I nearly cried though when I got my tier 2 pants from Molten Core.
My favorite memory was probably first time getting above 2000 rating in 2v2 arenas. Funniest part is the game that put us over, the other team DC'd. It was very anticlimactic but oh well. They were a mirror team of rogue/priest and we beat them before anyway. I went and immediately bought the arena shoulders and looked hella odd with a green off-hand I had bought from the auction house and was still using.
I miss mostly the BGs. Any of them really. I remember when WSG was first introduced. Alterac Valley that took literally days to win.
I had a lot of fun bumming around in front of Orgrimmar or Ironforge and dueling the other PVPers who hung around late at night.
Sorry I have no pics to contribute, they are all on my old computer. I do miss WoW. My brother and I reminisce about it frequently, and obviously have been since we saw the Warcraft movie 2 nights ago. Now he's preparing for med school and I'm off to grad school in the fall and we have no time. WoW isn't the same anymore though, but goddamn if we didn't have some good times.

I don't know if it still exists since they remodeled the zone in Cataclysm, but Azshara used to have a gnomish engineering vendor hidden between the cliffs at its southern shore. I read online that this vendor sold a relatively low-level recipe for a diver helmet that lets you breath underwater or something. Since I had skilled my character on engineering and I loved all those gimmicky items I really wanted to get that recipe. Problem was that I was a total noob at around level 20 at that time and I had to make my way through half of Kalimdor and tons of high level zones to get it. I died dozens of times and basically spent the entire day searching for that damn gnome, but I discovered so much cool shit, got those Hydraxian guys in my reputation chart and felt like I just finished some legendary quest when I finally held that recipe in my hands. As a beginner who fought nothing but shitty animals and murlocs, seeing all those vast landscapes full of dragons and giants and shit was like seeing a glimpse of some entirely different world.
Fast forward to max level, I decide to go back to Azshara to get my revenge on those monsters when I realize that the zone is basically half-finished and barely has any quest. Meh, whatever. Still my favorite.
Trying to do low level dungeons before the match system... an hour later and you end up in a group with a ret pally and an enhance shaman healing some hunters boar...
planning on coming back for legion with some friends and we want to start a guild. How hard is it to find people that want to join a guild that is starting from the bottom up?

My greatest memory of the game is this one Tauren from my guild with whom I'd go drinking in the taverns of Orgrimmar everytime we achieved something. We would buy beer for everyone around us and party. To me it was the simple things that made this game great :')

Saving up the 40g for my first mount on my original character in TBC. it took forever to save up but god was it amazing to finally have that increased movement speed

Nah, it was frustrating at times, yes but in a way, the difficulty is what made it.
To get fully geared it would take 3-ish months per instance, plus learning the place and clearing it the first time. Which tbh was one of the most fun parts of it.
I had my mage full naxx and 2 alts fully with BWL, TBC came out before we started doing alt raids to AQ40.
it makes me really sad to think back on these times. was a 14 yo kid during TBC release. used to play hours every day with my friends after school.. thoses were the best days of my life

unfortunately I didnt experience wow in all its beauty. I started playing when I was maybe 13 or 14 years old which was shortly after the wotlk expansion.
I never raided or achieved anything big.
I was still completely amazed by this game and my favourite moment was definitely when I was playing the game for the first time:
I was playing a N811 and had no clue of this game as you can imagine. Questing in teldrassil felt hard. So I played together with this female n811 who got a good idea about the game but wasnt really good too. anyway we quested together until we had to leave to the next area to auberdine. She said she wanted to go to stormwind and I should just follow her. I remember how I had to go afk and when I came back we were standing in the bank of stormwind. As I stepped outside and saw all these people running around with their epic armors and huge mounts and the city itself I was completely amazed.
I wish I had started earlier, I wish I did raid. Still had a great time with my good friend who joined me later in the game and who I spent hundreds of hours with playing this god dam game as complete noobs

an other moment was when I was in front of stormwind still a low level and just exploring what lies around. Then I noticed a big movement into the forrest, more and more players ran there. Then I saw a red name at the horizon, it was a troll. There was a big group of horde players raiding stormwind for the mount.
The alliance players didnt want to give up so easily on their king and what followed was a huge battle between horde and alliance. I remember running with the huge mass after the horde as a lv 18 ish.
It was so fucking awesome. it felt like nerd war

Coco went on with a few of us to Bleeding Hollow, but after a few guilds dissolved I lost interest in playing, and I believe he and a few other members continued to server hop for some time.
Kat switched servers pretty soon after that picture. Lost contact with her, I think she might still hop on occasionally.
This game ate literally years of my life, and I loved every minute of it!

It's fun, but it's not the same as before. It's been... Casualised, I'd say ? Seems petty but it has other consequences. Anyways, PvP is the same as usual (boring af with toxic guys), PvE is honestly innovative and has interesting strats, and farming has been simplified. Actually it's been so simplified you can pick the game up like a casual once-in-a-while game. Still an expensive game, but worth playing imo. It won't please "hardcore gamers' tho.

i was like lvl 60 and doing a blackrock dungeon, i dont remember. there was like a super good epic drop, i just pressed need. dungeon leader or whatever it is got mad, turns out they were like a party or smth and they got mad, saying they need it for their warrior. or they would kick me. in the heat of the moment, seconds away from being kicked i remembered a line from the old game "wild ones". they used to say it all the time in the chat. "abla alguno espanol". i said it, and they thought i was spanish or smth rofl and didnt kick me. i saw the healer from that dungeon at level 90, in a 40p bg. he somehow remembered my name and i was like shocked is it that guy. then he laughed and didnt heal me when i died :( but that game was just... good. i still have that nostalgia, that feeling. leveling up, pvp, grinding... it was all fun once. now its gone.
