>>690041424
>metal
>>690041483
Great choice too, top three Iron Maiden albums for me:
Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
The Number of the Beast
Brave New World
I really like Korpiklaani's Ukon Wacka and Amon Amarth's With Odin at our Sides.
>>690041603
Brave New World is awesome, very underrated
Above the weeping world by insomnium
>>690041114
Ofc
>>690041114
First two albums of Iron Maiden are best.
>>690041603
nickel is a metal, yes.

Best metal guitarist
>>690042372
best black metal guitarist
>>690042372
Looking at the thumbnail I was thinking "fuck yeah Living Colour is fucking awesome" then I clicked it and
obligatory
Nothing beats this.
>>690041958
There is not a single mediocre song on Brave New World. All the songs are either good or amazing.
>>690043522
i've put off listening to this for about 4 years now
thanks for the push anon i'll get right on it
This album is fucking HEAVY AS SHIT.
>>690043775
The only complaint i have about the album is that "rundgang um die transzendentale säule der singularität" should be a bit longer.
>>690041424
>fagget
>>690044571
oh and this
>>690044571
I second this one, i just hope they are able to follow that debut album up with something as good or better!
Been a metalhead ever since i listened to this darstadly creation.
>>690045765
>metal
>>690041114
yes i was born in 1990 but had this on tape (didnt know about torrenting when i was 15/16. Loved it so much. Got me to read the "tales of alvin maker" series by orson scot card and it follows the album prefectly. Brave new world will always be my favorite ablum of theirs as it introduced me to them, but by god good opening of a thread op
LOVE how they do story book titles, introduced me to some great books i would have never of heard of otherwise
>>690045793
It's the exact same for me. I have read so many books that i only heard about because of Iron Maiden.
>>690045790
go listen to some bieber faggot
>>690041114
>2016
>listening to metal
if any of you are under 40 your a faggot
>>690046134
My cousins who introduced them to me did it in the worst fashion. They would skip to the middle 2 mins a song then switch to another saying "the rest bores me". Listened to them without them and god damn they dont get them. Yes they arnt "metal" through the entirety of a song but they are great all 5-8 mins a song goes on
Journeyman - featured an entire orchestra if i remember correctly (or maby i misheard), surprised me to no end how musical they were
Dream of mirrors - FIRST "metal" song i ever heard, my cousins gave me their headphones at an airport and it rocked me hard. had to remind myself i was in a public place as when i closed my eyes my head would rock out (not so autistic as i make it sound, but still no high ever reaches the first for anything)
>>690046495
No i'll go listen to something that's actually heavy. Slipknot is like the One Direction of metal.
>>690046827
LOL you obviously dont know metal you retarded faggot. if you knew metal you would get this, whic you wont.
>>690047059
If you really think that Slipknot is metal, then i don't think you understand what metal is.
One of my top 10 albums
What about black veil brides?
Pure thrash.
>>690042907
i thought that album sucked. Kill 'em all is their best album imo
>>690047241
I don't like this album. But the song "Bleed" is amazing!
>>690047495
too brutal for this thread
Back when Metallica was actually thrash metal.
I'm a huge Maiden and Megadeth fan too. For Maiden, top two are Number of the Beast and Powerslave. For Megadeth, I like scattered songs from all over, but probably Peace Sells. I actually liked United Abominations too though, which I didn't expect at all.
>>690047216
If you really think that Slipknot isn't metal, then i don't think you understand what metal is.
>>690047636
United abominations was a good album. Dave's voice just kinda keeps going downhill now and they adjust. Endgame might've been there last good album. I haven't listened to dystopia yet.
>>690047676
then posting Korn wouldn't be a problem with you either right? linkin park?
>>690048085
Yeah, it was very different sounding, but not in a bad way. They adapted well. It was the first Megadeth album I could consistently sing along to without hacking up a lung trying to make my voice that harsh.
Endgame had a couple good ones, couldn't really get into anything after that. The later albums are increasingly conspiracy oriented (which makes sense as Mustaine has been drifting ever-more toward sharing politics with Jesse Ventura), while the older ones were just "mad at society," and I find myself connecting a lot less with the conspiracy ones. But a few songs of the era are excellent.
Death metal gold.
>>690048447
Pic didn't attach
>>690048208
maybe get some papa roach and limp bizkit and you've got a deal.
Tool in general is my favorite band. Lateralus>10.000 days. Even tho the two albums comes very close imo.
I wouldnt consider tool metal but still an amazing band
>>690048848
Agreed.
Is Primus considered metal? I can't honestly decide. They're awesome too though.
I don't think there is a single band in the world that has a higher level og average musicianship between the band members than Dream Theater.
>>690048983
I dont know ne obliviscaris is up there i would say
>>690048419
I hate to admit it but supercollider grew on me even tho it's something else from their usual stuff. Even the bits with the banjo....never thought I would hear one on a metal album.
Never Saw this album getting posted...such a shame
ill just throw out a few albums that aren't part of the 95% repost circle jerk these threads tend to become.
1/?
2/?
Umm in honor of Lemmy
3/?
4/?
5/?
6/?
Theese guys are beautifull too
7/?
ill end on an unorthodox note
8/8
>>690049164
I really never liked Supercollider. Too far from classic thrash for me. If I don't feel like I'm sitting in a smokey 80s bar (or wandering through a Finnish forest), I don't like a metal song. But I never really spent much time with Supercollider, I sorta wrote it off. Maybe it's an acquired taste.
Thunderbolt Apocalyptic Doom - the best ever
Reminder that metal is children music
>>690050269
The lyrics kinda got me. And I spent a lot of time playing it at work since its not too heavy. Still better than risk and world needs a hero but not by much.
>>690050547
this meme is 10 years old. let it die.
>>690050547
Right, because there's another popular genre that's so much more mature.
The only musical genre that deals with more mature subjects than metal is country, and that's extremely rare, old-style country that hasn't been big since the 80s. Metal is about the only popular music that addresses any real social issues at all and some of the only music that's still made that has any emotional meaning at all.
>>690050547
thanks
>>690048983
They lost it all in my opinion. The 2013 desaster of triggered drums, mechanical guitar sound, subpar mixing and godawful mastering killed this band for me. Musically their past efforts worked much better as well, after Mangini the prog element kinda turned into 'complex for complexities sake'.
>>690044392
yes
>>690050660
Makes sense, I can see it as work music. I tend not to listen to metal unless I want to get pumped, most of my listening is classic rock really. But when I want metal, nothing beats good old 80s style thrash metal.
>>690048208
how can you take the bait that hard
>>690050767
Best songs:
Into the Storm
Nightfall
Blood Tears
Mirror Mirror
(the last one being one of the best songs i've ever heard)
>>690050849
U gotta admit it's nowhere near the trainwreck Metallica's Lulu album with lou Reed.
>>690050712
Yeah sort of. They should've taken a break when Mike Portnoy said they should.
But when they were good they were the best in the world.
>>690050888
i was just looking to fight
>>690050703
hhhhhhh
you're so delusional, kys fag
>>690051151
Oh yeah, definitely.
I really don't bother with Metallica after Load. Even then, Fuel was like the only memorable song on there.
>>690051089
Bards song bruh. Battlefield too.
>>690051219
This I can sign. Just recently picked up Metropolis pt. 2 on wax, might be the same master but I highly doubt it. First time you can actually hear Myung's relentless bass work and the drums are earth shattering.
>>690048715
Aenima - Undertow - 10,000 Days - Lateralus, in that order.
>>690051724
Yes of course, my list is from Nightfall in Middle-Earth only.
I'd also add Curse my Name. Amazing song.
Anyone else listened to this?
>>690052019
leaving out salival forshame
>>690041114
>>690052062
R.I.P.
No Pantera?
>>690052380
Way to be a nigger
>>690052380
Pantera is awesome. I was too lazy to track down more than one cover for this thread though.
>>690052194
This.
>>690052021
Can't believe I forgot Skalds and Shadows.
>>690052845
Barely metal, but awesome.
>>690052881
The definition of the 80s, but awesome.
>>690046524
*you're
>>690041603
piece of mind is way superior.
>>690052964
Agreed.
>>690053059
I like it, but i always felt like it has way to many filler songs.
>>690053059
Not that anon, but to me they're all about on par. All quality albums.
>>690053258
perhaps, but I just like the vibe of it very much. Probably just a personal thing, though.
>>690053311
The coolest album cover, and a 10/10 album!
>>690041114
That's hård rock, not metal
>>690053311
Agreed, every piece is very distinct in its qualities.
>>690043789
Ugh, I get mad nowadays when people tell me they like Mastodon, because I know full well they've never listened to Remission or even know about Remission
>>690050075
Underrated post.
beep beep coming through
>>690053258
It has a few, but I think even the filler songs are great for filler songs. It's the only Maiden album I've recently bought the whole album of instead of picking through for songs, the whole thing is pretty solid.
>>690041114
Their best songs are Rime of the Ancient Mariner and Empire of the Clouds
>>690048715
Rad, Lateralus kicks ass
But pic related is best metal album of all time
>>690053498
I know this is bait, but Iron Maiden is far from Hard Rock. Listen to AC/DC or Kiss and compare them to Iron Maiden. Iron Maiden is the definition of Heavy Metal.
>>690053588
I'm a prog guy, but when is comes to Mastodon: the heavier the better!
Bow down, filthy peasants
>>690054013
Those are good, but I have to put Number of the Beast, Hallowed be Thy Name, Powerslave, and maybe The Trooper above them. Part of that is based on length though, I never have time to sit and enjoy Rime of the Ancient Mariner for example, as great as it is.
I think Fear of the Dark deserves a mention too, but it's not above Rime of the Ancient Mariner.
>>690053706
The vocals on this album are unbearable. Mastodon were better when they shouted/screamed their lungs out.
>>690054097
>the heavier the better!
Go pose somewhere else please
>>690049401
true that
>>690054187
I thought that was a fucking baroness album for a second
thanks for the rec
>>690054097
I basically equate Crack the Skye to that scene in Walk Hard where he's making that symphonic shit with all the goats and the horn section. Mastodon is un-metal now.
>>690054363
Its the same designer for the albums
>>690042165
The drummer in my band used to play for Megadeth way back in the day. But I don't care if nobody believes me
Cant beat Swedish Progressive Technical Death Metal
>>690052111
Loved it, especially Heksebrann.
>>690054664
I don't, but it's not that crazy an idea. Megadeth has had like what, 12 drummers or something?
step up your game niggas
xspongexcorex.bandcamp.com
>>690054293
I personally love them because they are both a kind of tribute one to cloeridge's poem and one to the R101 airship incident. Empire of the Clouds is a fukken masterpiece and I love how Bruce's love for flight always gets so enphazised (like in aces high). That being said number of the beast is another incredibile song and run to the Hills too. All the ones you mentioned are incredibly good songs, the problem is a lot of iron maiden songs are very very good
>>690054819
Very, very true. So many good songs, at least one classic on every album.
I do love Rime of the Ancient Mariner, both the song and the poem. I never knew the backstory to Empire of the Clouds, but I should give it another listen, been a long time.
>>690054819
I didn't really like Empire of the Clouds. My favourite subgenre is Progressive Metal, so i know what a 20-minute song can be. I just don't think Empire really needed 18 minutes. A few of the parts sounded like amateurs trying to make sonething that sounded classical. Iron Maiden are better when they write folk inspired melodies like When the Wild Wind Blows.
>>690043522
>>690044392
>>690049795
>>690049931
My niggers.
>>690055052
I'd say the opposite personally, I can't find fault with that song at all. - Granted I'm not really tied to one genre of music, so I guess I'm a bit more open to variation.
>>690054768
Yea and the one that just recently died was his drum tech so he said he feels like he cheated death (drummer before him died also)
Does anyone in this thread actually listen to metal? What's all this weak ass prog shit? Fucking nerds.
>>690055637
I have a very varied musical taste too. I just don't think Empire can compare to a Dream Theater 20-minute epic.
>>690055656
Oh wow, that's interesting. Huh.
>>690055662
Implying Prog Metal isn't metal. Not all metal is constant blast beats and a vocalist that sounds like an old mans snoring.
>>690055781
I don't listen to prog metal, but I do listen to some prog rock, and if you want a good 20+ minute song, I measure all by the standard of 2112. Maiden is pretty good at it by that standard.
>>690055982
my nigga
>>690056040
Iron Maiden is my favourite band of all time, so i don't like arguing against them. I just didn't like Empire. The Red and the Black though, just wow.
>>690055967
Yes, yes it is. You should mosh more, and stop being a big ol' puss.
Loved the shit out of this back in the day.
>>690056208
Oh, okay. I'll get to it then. I'll just throw away all my prog records first.
>>690056161
True, their new album is shockingly good.
>>690056303
You should. That shit's for dumpy, unathletic basement trolls. Become a man today, and accept brutality in your life.
IF YOU CAN'T EAT IT OR FUCK IT THAN....KILL IT!!!!
>>690056695
I've always hated the "metal has to be loud, discordant, and yelled unintelligibly" idea. I listen almost exclusively to older stuff with real harmony that you can actually understand, all the new guttural yelling crap holds no interest for me.
>>690052285
Fuck yeah for Pantera
>>690057020
fuck yeah
>>690057020
>>690052495
Salute to all Pantera fans here, Dimebag was the best

>>690047268
aww i wanted to post that, such a fucking good album
>>690044660
God tier
>>690056289
Me agree
>>690041114
iron maiden has the shittiest album covers
>>690062622
aside from that one, i think most would disagree.
Some fucking proper riffs throughout this whole album
>>690054023
Great album. also 10x better on shrooms or acid.
