Heres another point that i think is pro-scarjo playing her: Acting-wise, shes perfect, because shes awful. Shes a terrible actress that just has the most blank stare like shes thinking about something and incapable of putting it to words. Normally, for most roles, thats a bad thing, but that totally fits with this character being an unemotional robot trying to resurect the little humanity it has left but kinda failing at it. She acts in all her roles the same way the major did in the movie so its perfect. Id rather them nail that then how squinty her eyes are.. Its like that horrid mis-casting of Harley Quinn in the upcoming badguys movie.. Thats not the same brooklynite character i remember quinn being.. theres no "Mista jay" type accent, the old school flapper personality, its just lolipop chainsaw wearing a different costume.. They also briefly showed Berlin in another episode. Like many political-ish animes, the writers take a very cynical view of global affairs and Japan's place in the world. After watching Darker than Black, Ghost in the Shell, Terror in Resonance, and Gate, I'm completely convinced one has subscribe to Realism in order to be an anime director.
