Yes! This is a Porter-Cable lock mortiser. You clamp it to the door, calibrate the depth and height of cut and use the correct bit, then turn in on and crank the handle...it lifts the router up and in, down and in, over and over until done.

Yeah, I have one and you can basically crank the handle as fast as you want unless it's a real hardwood. There's also an attachment the hangs it from the top of the door, but I usually just measure from the floor.

The next step is the faceplate template, it's a nice piece also.

Then, I make custom plexiglass templates with the holes drilled just right to mark whatever functions are needed.

basically apprentice you're untrained and can't work by your self. Its not a certification. Journeyman can work by themselves or without direct supervision from master, masters can pull permits and plan wiring etc. Would also depend on Union or sub-contracting.

OK. there is a guide line at the bottom. You put something like a guitar string around the 2 bottom bolts then you squeeze the handle. when its squeezed all the way you can tighten the screw from your 1st pic this will hold the tension. the guage on the top tells you how much tension there is.

Pretty close, I'll give it to you. It's a spoke tensiometer, used to measure the amount of strain on the spokes of a bicycle wheel (or motorcycle or vintage spoked car wheels) because a spoked wheel needs to have equal tension on every spoke to attain optimal strength.
