His brain went without oxygen for too long, he suffered irreversible brain damage, slipped into a coma, and passed away less than a month later. The service at a baptist church consisted of ten minutes about my friend, and twenty minutes of how we'd all go to hell and never see him again unless we were saved, delivered by some fat fuck who barely knew him. And my family sits there and tries to tell me that my friend is happier in "heaven" than he's ever been, as if the man would rather be anywhere else than by his wife and son.

I may seem like a douche when I say this, but humanity's problems are humanity's problems. I do wish that God would have helped them, but for whatever reason he didn't. But it still stands that there were and are other human beings who can/could have freed them from their suffering, no?
Some of us have power, but refuse to use it unless it directly benefits themselves. I'm not implying that this is a bad thing, but you can't blame others for your own inaction.
In the end though, Auschwitz was liberated, and the starving people in Africa are being assisted by charities as we speak. These things take time, but I'm glad to see that you still have some compassion.
