right so the best way to think of this is to think of it like programming

price= $1

price= price+(.5*price)
price = 1+(.5*1)
price = 1.5

it doesn't loop. its just $1.50.

Let's say it costs 1$ => the price is 1,5$

>>
>>687865446
>>687865453

the final price is x

it costs $1 plus x/2

so

x = 1 + x/2

-x/2 from both sides

x/2 = 1

multiply both sides by 2

2x/2 = 2

x = 2

Total cost is $2

I know that it's a bait, but real answer 2.

It can't be anything else because if you had some other number than 2 it would not make final price the same.

Let's take 1,5 for an example: half of the 1,5 is 0,75. 1+0,75 = 1,75, not 1,5 that would be required.

Now let's take 1 for an example: half of 1 is 0,5. 1 + 0,5 = 1,5, not 1 that would be required.

Now same with 2. Half of 2 is 1. 1 + 1 = 2, 2 can be divided to 1.

Now this has been written so that even dullest knife could get it.

$1 + Half The Price

$1 + $X/2 = X

simple fucking maths. a monkey from a vietnamese zoo could solve such a simple equation.

$2 + X = 2X

$2 = 2X - X

$2 = X
>>
The problem here is that the question is worded poorly.

> The game costs $1, plus half of it's price.

You have two halves in this sentence that don't work together.

> The game costs $1

That is a statement. The game is one dollar. We could answer the question there, since we have an answer, except it goes on to say

> plus half of it's price.

Now this is a conundrum because half of which price? The price you provided? Or the price of the game after you have added the 50% to it? We don't know, so let's solve for both.

> The game costs $1

x = 1

> Plus half of it's price

Half of $1 is .50, so x = 1 + .50
Therefore the game is 1.50

Alternatively, you could read it as an entire phrase;

> The game costs $1 plus half of it's price

Meaning that whatever the price is, (x in this case) x = 1 + .5x Then we simply need to solve for x.

2 = 1 + .5(2)

So in this case, our answer is 2. There is however, a third interpretation of the question, which makes the answer unsolvable. What is $1 is the final price, until you add the .5x to the dollar, and then you have your cost, until you run it through the formula again (since the question does say plus half it's price, and the new price is now 1.50). Now you've got 1.75, except now you have to run it through the formula again, since the game is $1 plus half it's price, and this would go on forever, of course. Obviously that isn't truely an answer but it is something to consider, since the image is too unclear to ascertain what exactly the intention was.

Actually, the intention was to troll everyone. And everyone took the bait, including me. GG OP well played.
>>

>>
>>687872994
You're the dumb one. Cost and price can't be represented by the same variable. Youre solving a different equation.
>>
>>687872852
The total price of the game (represented by "x") is equal to $1 plus half the price of the total price (still represented by "x").

$1 plus half the price (0.5x) is equal to the total price of the game, "x".

1 + 0.5x = x

Isolate the variable.

1 = 0.5x

Divide by 0.5 in order to solve for X

2 = x

But if you insist that as the scenario, the question needs to be phrased as "1 plus half the ORIGINAL price". That way the trve price is differentiated from the original price.

There is no variable.

The game either costs $1 plus half it's price of $1 as markup. Which is a buck $1.50.

or

The price isn't $1 and it's unsolvable because there is no real price. Because it becomes X +1 + X/2 = Y where you plug in any number you want for X to generate Y or any number for Y to generate X.

The question is open ended and leaves 2 possible, correct answers.

Answer number one is:
Game costs amount of money that's answer of following equation in where 1=Y and final price = X.
Y + 0,5 x X = X . In this case answer is 2

Second correct answer is that the games price is 1,5$. This comes from Y + 0,5 x Y = X
>>
Let's assume the price is 1$, then you need to add $0.50 to get the price. But then the price is $1.50, and you need to add $0.75. So you would keep on multiplying by 1.5 forever, since the price is always rising. This doesn't work. Let's all move on.

If cost is $1 and the general profit margin is 33% then retail price is $1.50. Half of 1.50 is .75 cents so .75 plus $1 is $1.75.

You cannot solve the question.

This is similar along the lines of: 1 + x = y

You don't know the game's price so that value you add onto the $1 is unknown.
>>
you have 1$+ 0,5x =x
because the game(x) costs 1$ plus half its price (0,5x).
the only number that can be used here is 2 to get a true answer.
1+2/2=2
>>
>>687879798
you do know the games price, its 1$ plus half its price
that means you have 1$ plus 0.5 x =x

1 plus 2 times 0.5 equals 2

>>
>>687863037
Alright let's really solve this:
First things first, you're asking about the price of a game. You're on 4chan. You're on the internet. Therefore you must be a retard, and thus the game must be AAA.
Therefore, the price is $60.
But now you say the game is "$1 plus half its price", and ask me how much it costs.
So with this I'm assuming you're a magical price fairy, and somehow you've now changed the price to reflect this statement, and only by accident forgot to write "plus half its ORIGINAL price"
At this point, the game must cost $1 + $60/2, or $31.
But this only works if you don't speak retard.
And I'm afraid you do :(
