not only that, if you're using the term very loosely to mean innovative films, thats doubly idiotic, interstellar is cliched, over dramatized and even predictable from start to finish

Some movies I haven't seen over here but are worth watching. They're different, and make you think.

Mr. Nobody - good story
The Fall (2006) - nice scenery and cinematics
Baraka + Samsara - nature, culture, world
The Lobster - weird movie, cool though
Cidade de Deus (City of Gods) - good story, well portrayed
Meru - about climbing, documentary with handheld camera onto mountain.
Collateral - thriller, assassin
Oldeuboi / Oldboy - weird korean, fun to watch, hefty, good plot

>like the whole "all of earth food supply has vanished

>they just add nonsensical shit for no other reason than to move the plot forward (and thats bad filmmaking fyi).

your example isnt "adding nonsensical shit to advance the plot", it was simply the premise of the movie;

like that other anon said, by your logic, in Aliens they started the movie in a spaceship and added some nonsensical 3 stage life form just to make a movie about bodies erupting with larvae and face-huging spiders

interstellar may be bad for several reasons, but because its in a end-of-the-world scenario is Not one of them.
