I assume it was just piled really high, and then when one of them tried to eat it, it got unstable and toppled.
that doesn't really make sense either, because it couldn't have piled like that by itself from the autofeeder, but the person who fed them could have just piled a bunch in the bowl rather than actually filling the feeder, to save like a second of their time.
