Best would probably come from versatility as well as integrity, so I really don't know who I would put down as best in my opinion. There's not many people who have both down to a wire, and the problem is that there is so many wonderful artists to choose from that labeling one the best at all would be difficult to say the lest. SSLP MMLP and half of the Eminem show was great, the rest kind of a disappointment. But then again once you created one of the best rap albums its hard to ever create something half as good as MMLP.

Have you heard the first single he released for that album, "I"? ie the tone he intends to set + the song he feels most proud of. Literally just a bunch of narcissistic garbage with no depth. Rakim started it so thats a fair argument. Eminem at his best was more complex and creative. He was probably more remembered because he could do a story teller type of song while also having complex lines. Doom i'm really not a fan of. Think he's been hyped way too much for what he is. I was meant as a fun single, I can see how its seen as a more mainstream song but it's the only one like it on the album so I can get over it. I didn't see Alright as pandering to BLM, though I can see why it seems that why, especially seeing as its used as an anthem for it now. How can you see other songs have no depth though look at U, that last verse is every bit as deep as Sing About Me, or The Blacker the Berry. Theres a bunch of deep songs on the album.

His rhymes get pretty insane. I'll say that, don't think from what i've heard anyway he has the ability to really tell stories with it. But i guess not all rappers are really like that.

I don't think it's that he doesnt have the ability but more along the lines of he chooses not to, but to be honest I haven't listened to enough Doom to know if he tells stories very often or not, I've only heard 2 albums from him. I stopped liking Em when he released Encore, everything after and including Encore was pretty bad or at most average.

Thats a lot of hypotheticals though. I think he gets a bit too heavy into the technicals of rapping. People like Biggie had great technicality but not to a degree where it ever impeded his flow or narrative he was describing.
He never adapted. All great rappers have something great to say when they first start, Em was about getting famous, about being on his grind and still trying to stay normal. His message wore thin and people wanted something else and when he gave them something else it just wasn't that great.
