In both their current videos and their current podcasts they are the same, they act. Lewis is a great example. He is the big boss, who is in charge of the company and he is plays the role of Lewis, the character, he spews memes, does things that have made them money previously and nothing more. He's not there for fun, he's there to do his job. He might pretend to have fun, but only as a job, he won't ever be as relaxed and real as he was in the YoGPoD, even the "we are bad at games" bit is no longer real, he's bad on purpose and he's using it as an aspect of his character, they joked about being bad back then too, but they were actually a rather high ranking guild, they weren't naturals at the game though, they got there by hard work and stubborness. Nowadays they are a shell of what they used to be, memes on top of memes, all to produce a profitable kid's show and nothing more.

Back in 2012 - 2013 it was great we all enjoyed watching it, mostly cause of Egoraptor (Still a big fan of his animations and comedy style).
But holy shit is it fucking annoying these days. Dan and Arin aren't that funny or interesting to listen to all the time when they play boring games and talk about dumb bullshit which is 95% of the videos. Gets really repetitive really quickly. Fans make it gayer. Egoraptor used to be funny but his humour has gone down since he and Dan spent so much time playing video Games.

Honestly, I never found Egoraptor to be particulary funny, just different; and I'm saying that as someone who experienced the whole Newgrounds boom himself. Ego's forte was that he was way ahead of the curve in terms of animating and voice-over animations in general - the fact that more and more teens started using the internet at that time also helped him out a lot. Basically, he was in the right place at the right time.
Nowadays he's just resting on his good reputation he developed early on and still doing the same old and boring teenager-humor he always did - whenever he actually makes anything other than GG, that is.
That said, I still loved GG when it came out. It was such a happy, careless and fun atmosphere and I was eagerly waiting for any new video. I remember how painful it was having to wait for the MM7 episodes. Ego and Jon, although I'm not a huge fan of either of them solo, were a great team.
Danny is nice and dear god, does he have many talents, but the chemistry just isn't the same anymore - that and their noticable lack of energy in almost every new video.

Yeah, I was there when newgrounds pretty much started. Although it seems rather tame now, the AWESOME series of Egoraptor started there, and thats how I think he got a lot of his fame.
I didn't actually see Game Grumps until it had been going on for a least a few seasons, but I listened to it, and it had some funny moments, but most of it sounded stupid/dumb and not stupid/funny.
Also, the point when I actually saw what EgoRaptor actually looks look - I mean, wtf man - how did you get that big (was he always that big?)

I think Arin and Jon had great comedic chemistry, sort of the straight man/fool type humour. I also think the others are great, but they don't work as well with Arin's comedy as well as Jon's did.
