There's this thing in childhood development called nurture versus nature. Nurture being everything that creates a person that is not generic predisposition or inherited traits. Nature is those last two things.
ASD, ADD, ADHD, etc, are all NATURE. Being a whiny asshole is NURTURE.
People with autism are simply born with developmental challenges, ie they just don't "get" things like regularly developed children do in social settings (which really says something about social bullshit). They are also predispositioned to not develop certain natural behaviors or they develop these behaviors but display them in what are commonly considered "inappropriate" contexts.
Ie, when I was a kid I'd line up my toy cars all neat and straight and just stare at them. This is all NATURE.
NURTURE is my two brothers running and messing up my toy cars. NURTURE is my mom not babying me and giving me the same expectations, responsibilities, and consequences as any other child, albeit using different methods to teach me.
NURTURE was also my step-brother's mom never pushing him to learn and grow. NURTURE was him still having trouble reading when he was in high school.
