What I am thinking is this. Assuming we are doing decrypting something encrypted using block ciphers, there is something called an initialization vector. Vectors....that is something in linear algebra. Most likely what is happening is that the default initialization vector is not being used, but something different. This is where the 90 degrees/right angle part comes in. The vector is of many dimensions, so use an initialization vector that is normal to that....that said, there is an infinite number of those...so I am not sure how that is constrained...maybe 6 has relevance there? idk. I couldn't get into the irc because it was set to invite only. :-/
