overly simplistic instrumentation.. sounds archaic. Sound quality is ok but not spectacular. Melodies are all over the place.. hard to pinpoint much pattern and sound cheesey with the instrumentation.

>>684929783
you need more than crusty piano loops and sampled beats buddy
https://soundcloud.com/robotboyfriendmusic
I don't even know anymore. I've dabbled in just about everything at this point and I'm really starting to thing production isn't my thing. Once in a while I'll come up with something half decent but it takes months to get something I'm sorta happy with.
>>684930245
i dont see you posting better music cunt

i did early in fact.
>>684930237
I fucking hate the supersaw faggy cunt synths you use mate.
>>684930285
You have a lot of the key things down. Pretty damn good. Maybe a little more emotion and complexity.

the main synthy lead bullshit fucking gay ass nigger patch fuck you
>>684925715
That shit is pumping, not usually a fan of EDM and techno stuff, but you've got a solid beat, and you mess with some fun melodies.
>>684925965
Nice shit there dude, how much of that is improv, and how much of it was already written? That sax is great.
>>684926882
I usually hate chilled out ambient stuff, it's usually really lazy, but the piano work makes this shine, very loungy, very cool, "Remain Humble" is an awesome track, moar plz. Not so keen on the others, but keep messing with melodies over the top and it'll be sick as hell.
Just don't chuck tantrums at other people's opinions dude, it's not going to make people like it more. Keep your butt unhurt.

Here's mine, I've posted it before in /mu/, this is my playlist of the best stuff I've worked on, probably upload something else over the next couple of weeks.
>>684930493
Thanks bud.
Yeah, complexity has always been a hard point for me to really get down. I'm trying to work on it with some of the stuff I'm working on now.
>>684930568
your music is far superior lad
>>684930835
damn you's mad
can't even tell me which song. cuz like.. they are all totally different. if one is what you are calling a supersaw, the other's can't be lol.
Inability to take criticism is a sign of an eternal-wannabe.

here are the parts of things I used to make
call them things because they are pictures
>>684931288
yeah, the lead in great-circle is a bit sharp so it stands out.
>>684931272
True, but then people are going to pile on, and everyone's going to listen to the people criticizing you, and not listen to it. Worst result IMO.
Seriously though, love that piano bit, reminds me of "Widower" by The Dillinger Escape Plan in a way.
>>684930237
Cheesy? Bitch please, "Great Circle" just gave me a fucking lactose intolerance.
It's like listening to David Guetta through the cheesiest chorus synth imaginable.

>>684930855
Thanks! And about your track;
Good stuff in its own genre
>>684925715
Not bad OP. Only real suggestion I'd make is maybe bring out that clap/snare thing a little more. Still a nice groove.
>>684925965
Not a bad jam session. I really wish it was recorded professionally. That sax is too good. Nice one.

Holy shit man, nice, complexity off the charts love the energy, and the play between the different parts.
>>684932222
Nice quad's :D
Your work sounds cool, like the trippyness :D
>>684925715
I like the track to be honest, it progressively got more and more melodic, which I didn't expect.

I liked the grungier tone and elements mixed almost with a math rock feel. This is some nice progressive sounding stuff.
>>684931330
I feel like I would hear this in a video game, but it's chill.
>>684933576
What the fuck is this shit? The beat isn't bad, though.
>>684933756
You guys have kind of a math rock feel, too, but with more of an edge. It kinda reminds me of am indier version of Between The Buried And Me.
If anyone cares to critique my music, I've been getting into vocals and more songwriting recently, so I'm in need of some honest opinions

thx
Brother told me to keep making stuff and maybe it will be in some kind of a movie, but the problem is that I make only short stuff and most of them are dark in some way.
Didn't make anything for the past year.
Should I continue?
>>684934460

I'm the first one.
Thanks, the tone's just a 6505 sim on FL Studio, run rhythm+lead, with duped bass, one for distortion, gets a sick tone. Meant to get a bit of math in there, thanks for noticing.
The vox work is good, two questions though, you tracking those individually or singing and playing? Some of them could do with more takes to hit the pitch on the higher stuff. I'm a vocalist too, it's difficult getting the pitch right at the top of your range.
It's good stuff, the lyrics, songwriting, and vocal melodies are good, just practice, practice, practice, the more you do it, the more confidence you'll project, and the stronger it'll be. It may be worth doubling the vocal track on some bits, it'll give it more body and strength.
All to Blame is great, earns it's length.
Lonely Winter is great, that guitar lead work is awesome, loving the guitar tone, it's got that glassy reverby lead.
>>684935445
I'm sure if you practiced at it you could make longer stuff, but for a soundtrack it doesn't even have to be long. Personally, I think you should, especially if it's something you truly like.

Thanks, man. Really appreciate the feedback. And surprisingly, it was just a phone recording I had made right after I had written it to show a friend of mine. But yeah, the confidence is definitely challenging at times, haha. I'm going to take your advice and just practice my ass off at it.
