def one of my fav recent films

I'm a big fan of minimal casting. allows for much deeper characterization, which is very centric to the film.

Domnhall really shows potential. Less so in SW, but that's abrams ffs.

hopefully he keeps struggling so he doesnt have to turn into an insincere hollywood prop celeb

It was "Star wars, shill fucking merchandise episode". If it had been named anything but star wars, it would have been a B- flick. Good special effects, bad directing, strained acting.

I mean common, the entire genre was different from the others;it was action, not opera.

And the amounted of coincidences taxed my sense of disbelief.
When I ask others why they liked the film, they always answer "it was awesome". Then I ask what part they liked the most, and they just go blank face.

Shit like the helicopter shots was bad but overall the direction was damn good. Better than what I expected out of JJ

>strained acting.

Ok lol

>And the amounted of coincidences taxed my sense of disbelief

Coincidences in a Star Wars film? First I'm hearing about it.

>When I ask others why they liked the film, they always answer "it was awesome". Then I ask what part they liked the most, and they just go blank face.

I doubt you've asked anyone at all but I like the film for the same reasons I like the OT. Simplistic plot with a bit of depth, good pacing, colorful characters, great action and special effects and to a lesser degree a great musical score.
>>
>>684517128

>>
>>
>>684517816
>non stop action

There was a lot of action but there were many slow scenes too. The scenes with Kylo, Hux and Snoke, the scenes on the Falcon, the scene at Maz's Castle, the scene at the Resistance Base etc.

>simplistic characters and interactions

I don't know how that's a bad thing. It's fucking Star Wars. The only one of them that is remotely deep is ESB.

>Incomplete plot filled with jumps, based on information we'll learn in other films

It's a trilogy dude. Patience is a virtue.

>General plot is a mashup of StarWars IV & V

Fair enough. I thought they went about it in a smart way by using the OT as a backdrop to tell a new but similar story.

Catch the Extended Version sometime

I wish they had the budget to shoot all the stuff they storyboarded

Herbert worked with Lynch to expand the authors vision beyond the page. It may not be totally cannon, but some of the expanded material stands on its own well enough that it almost makes the books feel like they're missing something

Regardless of how Episode VII turned out KOTOR would still be "Legends". Those years would still be "dead" to you. Because the TCW Darth Bane is shite.

The movie was too long and could have been summed up in a shorter amount of time, other than that, pretty good though

With a better director and a darker script in theory it should be better. I doubt it will be on the same level of ESB but I hope to fuck that it is

>that movie actually pulled me out of a funk to

I know what you mean. Ever since I saw TFA on opening day I'm more optimistic these days.

I know what you mean but I feel it's going to be great in it's own way. This past year has been the hardest year of my entire life and it's not going to get any easier soon but I'm about to embark on a journey and this film just pulled me up and out of that slump, I can't explain it, just everything started to make sense after I watched it.

Gayest movie ever. It's a fantasy for males who are basically impotent fags and have no self esteem.
