I'm starting to think they have specifically designed thier show to give them certain personalities.
Arin is the heel. He always does things that piss off the viewers, usually related to ignorance and skipping half the stuff in the game. Often times yiu dont want Arin to win and maybe recieve his cumuppitance for his ignorance. However, Dan would be just as bad if he were playing. That is the reason he hardly plays, they want people to see him as the likable, singing, storytelling yes - man to Arin. If he were to play more often, he would display the same flaws of Arin when playing, we've seen him do that in the few games he's played.
I still think GG is an odd fit for him though, he has a sort of shallow and dated connection to videogame, and hardly plays them.
I'm also gonna be probably the millionth person to say this, but I think the dynamic of Arin and Jon were god tier. I think this because they very often traded odd in both playing games and these archetype rolls. Jon also argued often with Arin, something Danny hardly does, and it gave character to the show.

I really like Danny "I haven't played a video game since 1996" Sexbang. He adds a great dynamic to the show that Arin has kinda diluted lately. Spongebob is a great example. Danny's attitude of "this game is weird, but great!" compared to Arin's "I don't like this game so I'm gonna skip the dialog and try to quit as soon as I can" is a great example of what Game Greps has become.

No man, I mean thier interaction past that. They often argued over many things in video games, some pedantic details, other times often philosophy or viewpoints on games or other matters. There was an episode of Mario Land where they made a bet in the original Mario 3 if you touched a leaf or fire flower as base Mario did you go up 2 stages or just 1 to big Mario. Then there are the times when they agree with each other. When that happens, it was usually a nice feeling to hear. Plus when one of them said "real talk", you know they were gonna get real with each other.
Also, yes even if it has much nonsense and shouting, I enjoyed thier little improve skits more than Danny/Arin skits, even though both are pretty funny. Jon has energy, and Arin can match it I think, but Arin matching Danny's charisma is a bit akward.

While agree that Jon is much more capable of talking video games with Arin, and Danny is much more charismatic then Arin; the overall show has never been about playing the games unlike nearly every other lets play.
In GG it's mostly about the two idiots behind the camera talking about stupid things. Danny is much more capable of doing that then Jon or Arin, and can probably carry an entire show just sitting there doing nothing but telling stories.

Well that's sort of different. The reason is reviewers are paid to make reviews so people will know if something is considered good or not so they feel more comfortable with trying it themselves. However LPing doesn't just give thier 2 cent, they show all the content of the game and reveal the whole experience sans-serif actually playing the game. That would be like if a movie reviewer were to just play the movie and provide live commentary.
