They have survived thousands of years of marginalization. They understand what it takes to survive and will do anything in their power to ensure that. Their culture promotes societal success. On top of that, they promoted intellectualism (and still do) amongst themselves when they were less visible in Europe during earlier ages. This led to higher IQs (general intelligence) than other groups. This cultural and intellectual emphasis combined with an insatiable urge to survive has led them to ascendancy.

This might be partly true. I think given the dogma that they are God's "chosen" people, in combination with their historical discrimination, they've developed a tribal mentality that allows them to be selfish unto their own kind. I think many times it can occur on highly subconscious levels as well.
However, I've known a lot of Jews, I'm from the NY/NJ metropolitan area, and many are actually just normal people. One of my best friends is Jewish and hates being Jewish. Although many Orthodox Jews will be rude and not even think of goys as people even deserving normal manners.

Depends on the particular sect, where the ancestry lies, and how many generations it goes back. If your Jewish heritage come only from the material line and is four or less generations away you're Jewish. Though you will still probably have to do a small conversion you're fully Jewish.

I don't think their religion has much to do with their success. I read that when they were marginalized in Europe during the Middle Ages, the religious leader and the scholar were at the top of the social hierarchy in their society. This led them to breed with the most intelligent amongst themselves as that is what they valued. This created more intelligent people. It's not that they have a special gene, it's not really even their religion. It's generations upon generations of breeding in a certain way.
Combine this with a history steeped in finance, cultural intellectual pursuit, and persecution, and you have a group of people hellbent on succeeding.
Their success does not have much to do with their religion.

The religion is very much the glue, also consider the Sabbath. It's a time where we abstain from all the amenities of the modern world, no electricity is the big one. No, the only thing that would seem to conflict with modern Western society is strong in-group preference. We know most people dislike the Jews and the reason whether rational or irrational does not matter, we will be the first to be thrown under the bus. Instead what we do is help our fellow Jew the best we can. The company you work at (or own) has an opening, hire a Jew first. Looking for someone to renovate your house? Hire a Jewish contractor. Need a place to eat? Kosher. Making a tax deductible donation? Your synagogue etc...
